  1. You two may be the victoms of joe jobs. If so, what this means is that someone is sending spam email purporting to be from you. So poor old Mel, who's not the sharpest with computers, thinks it's really you that's sending the emails. There's nothing you can do. No new people should be affected now that HH has made profiles only visible to logged-in users
  2. Get the APF insurance for your rig. It'll cover loss of your rig in transit, as well as lots of other situations.
  3. To explain a little further: turn your head as if you're doing front crawl/freestyle in a swimming pool and taking a breath. This avoids raising the head vertically and so doesn't cause your body to arch and 'spill' air.
  4. Remember the 7kg carry-on limit. Your rig may not pass. Mine doesn't - it's 9kg before it's put in a bag.
  5. What happened to the pics?! They've vanished . Happy Birthday Alana!
  6. Mate, this is General Skydiving Discussions, not Personal Attacks for Fun and Profit. Lay off a little, ok?
  7. . Yup. Did for me, at least. Learn everything you can about your gear - then you're more confident in the fact that it'll work .
  8. Ummm, if you promise to laugh at my shit jokes, sure. Why not .
  9. True. There's a chance I'll be at Nagambie for the Easter boogie. If that happens, I'll buy you a beer for chancing your arm .
  10. Just buy a multi-region DVD player. They're dirt cheap.
  11. There's also Australia! Sydney Skydivers @ Picton (2x skyvans, Twin Otter, Turbine Beaver) Ramblers @ Toogoolawah (3x caravans) In the Australian summer (Nov-March) Toogoolwah is hot and humid, so Picton would be a better bet. In the Aussie winter (June-Sep) T'wah would be absolutely lovely. T'wah has lovely onsite accomodation. Picton's not as nice, but Phil (the DZ owner) could easily make suitable arrangements for a group of your size. He's open to cutting deals as well.
  12. I doubt that Olav owns the trademark any more.
  13. Yup. For all intents and purposes, there are no wind tunnels in Australia. Perris is about 15 hours thataway -->
  14. You never saw the Simpsons episode? Tsk.
  15. Looking at the piccys, I can well believe it. That tail does look awfully low...
  16. I check my rig. This is how I do it - ymmv. When checking in, go to the Oversize & Special Check-In counter. If you can't see it, ask a staff member. When you get there, show them the Cypres letter available from the APF website and say that there's a parachute in the bag. They'll be all confused and call a supervisor. Then, once it's cleared, they'll mark your bag and send it on its way. No worries.

    Missing

We'll keep an eye on it down here while you guys are sleeping.
  18. Nada. CRW next weekend and Moruya at the end of Feb should make up for it! Squeak and op5e, youse coming to play?
  19. Be aware that the camera may not come with an international warranty. If it doesn't, your retailer will attempt to sell you a third-party warranty (such as that offered by Mack Camera). To make a claim on one of these warranties you usually have to a) get a quote from an authorised service centre, b) send that quote to your warranty provider, and c) upon approval, get your camera repaired. Understandably, this slows down your repair time. Your call on whether that's a big enough issue to offset the price difference.
  20. If you're after a glove, Waycool make a number of different models. The HC Pro seems to be the one for a PC-style camera, and they recommend it for BASE.
  21. . Yup. That's exactly it. Try not to stress too much and make sure to have fun .
  22. Buy or borrow Scott Adam's Dilbert and the Way of the Weasel. About half-way through there's a one-page summary of everything you need to know. Seriously.
  23. If the database is correctly set up, the only character that could cause a problem is a single quote ('). To escape the single quote, just add another so you're inserting a string containing two single quotes (''). Note: not a double quote ("). Otherwise there's no reason to strip punctuation. Unless of course, the files aren't actually stored in a database, but on a filesystem. But that's probably not the case.
