Hey Everybody, I'm getting ready to head down to Deland for a few days. Wondering if anybody wants to show me the ropes. I come from a small 182 DZ up here in Canada. Not sure how these big 'zones work Looking for some quick coaching on traffic, landing areas, airspace rules, etc. If you're not a coach, but wouldn't mind showing me how it all works (getting on loads, manifesting, planning special jumps (i.e. really high pulls), etc) I would really appreciate that too. Or, if you just want to do a few jumps with a relativly new RW jumper, I'm in too. Beer that night would be on me of course I'm arriving about 8 AM, wednesday (march 8th). That's not this wed (in 2 days) but the next one. I'd like to get a jump (or 2) in before 10 AM, before I have to go visit an awesome company . So, anybody who wants to help out (and get free beer!) let me know! Thanks

Good luck! quick piece of advice (FWIW) I don't that that would be a great question to ask in an interview. I have nothing against mentioning skydiving (if it comes up, say as an interest) but I'm not really sure you want to bring it up in the context that you expect to get hurt, and need really good medical insurance. It would probably just confirm the idea in most people that "only crazy stupid people with a death wish" would ever skydive. They could just pass you up for another guy who would be less of a "risk" for them. If your acceptance of this job rests on whether it will cover you, then yeah, It would be a good idea to ask. But if you want the job, I would save questions like that until AFTER you're hired (preferably a few weeks, or after your "probation" period) Anyway, just my $0.02 (hey, everyone's got an opinion, right?) Oh yeah, and good luck!

I'd like to re-suggest this suggestion I hate it when an ad catches your eye just after you hit the 'back' button. Then you have to refresh a dozen times to get back to that ad.

I'm the same way. I actually had this discussion with some people at my DZ last year. As a general rule the younger guys seemed to be more comfortable with digital displays, while the.... um.... experienced ones tended to go more for the analogue point of view. I grew up with digital clocks. I'm the same way - i really have to think about the arm positions to tell time, instead of just a quick glance. I sometimes find myself doing that in freefall too - taking that extra half second to think and figure out just where I am. While other guys, can just see that needle and know exactly where they are, but would have to think about it with a digital readout. I think this is one of those cases where there is no right answer. It will be different for everybody.

i used to have one. before it got yoinked. I use my car as a campingmobile at the DZ and for road trips, so it worked out well. (would never use it while driving though - that's just a little too far down the stupid scale for me )
