If you like the rig tight then I would suggest chest rings especially if your already gonna get hip ones. I've never had bruises from either set of rings and love my odyssey to death. I pull my chest strap real tight in freefall and dont think it would be as comfortable w/o them Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

This is one rock solid canopy. Opens like a dream, super soft and on heading if you give it a chance. Incredible glide on the canopy. I've found on both my safires that you bring the slider down and push the rear risers apart just a bit and this thing will glide forever. Great flare power too. I'd suggest it to anyone looking for a solid performance canopy without going extreme. I load mine at 1.37 and couldnt be happier.

I saw someone smoking once and then saw them on the load. I asked him if he thought that was smart and he said he was fine. I know Linda Waz gives recurrency ground training for licensed jumpers, but Im not sure how long the students is good for. Probably a month. An instructor would make sure you were ready for the air.

My girlfriend is about the same size and off student status she prefered the safire to the spectre of similar sizes (underloaded). If at all possible you should try to arrange for her to try both. I cant speak for the xfire yet but I have never had a bad opening under a safire or safire2. Bad position, track or whatever its always just how I remember it coming out of the bag. 300 of the exact same openings. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Im not doubting the credibility of the owner, but Im amazed that every rig I see on ebay has a man. date from 10 years ago and only 50 jumps on it. Lots of rigs sitting in closets and idle skydivers I suppose. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Basicly you pull high enough for you to decide if you have a landable main chute, or if you have to cutaway and land your reserve. I have 420 jumps with no cutaways but (i'd like to think) im ready for one every time. I pull high enough to not need to rush to a decision, Thats why practicing and muscle memory of emergency procedures are very important. Thats why students pull at 5500.
