Computers "learn" the best fuel trim to keep emmisions in line (at least the ones I work on) Im sure they do it for performance too. The computer learns how much air and fuel over it takes to keep the motor running at optimium performance whether it be economy or power. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Well I havent jumped in 2 weeks and I have an unjumped crossfire2 169 sitting in my rig so what do I do? Blow $288 on a portable dvd player! 7 inch lcd screen and it plays vcd's so I can watch all my copies of The state and Inveder Zim! Its at Target if anyone cares to check it out. I was leary of the display but it rocks. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Dont know about the sabre2 so much but when I was flying my safire 209 pulling the slider down and letting the chest strap out helped a lot. Maybe not so much with the pressure but the response from the canopy was a lot better. Went from a weak 180 to a diving 360 no problem. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Chest rings let me tighten the chest strap real tight and doesnt kink the harness. Keeps the MLW flat against the body. Feels like it would help keep the handles from folding under, but maybe Im reaching now. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I'll be doing Scott Miller's camp again this weekend if the god damned weather in the northeast will cooperate. Its been 2 weekends and I havent been able to jumps my new crossfire2 yet. Damn. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

when I was getting my stuff done last weekend there was a kid getting inked next to me right on his back. He was twitching and taking breaks every 5 minutes. I've got 12 hours on my back and it sucks but you've gotta (like she said) suck it up. The worst part of it is Im not happy with my back. Cover up or fix it? Dont know yet. I think it was Marcus' add 4 years ago because I found a bunch of originals of the girl in the bathtub in the great hall. He put a bunch of stuff about it at the end of swoop. Funny stuff. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I found the best ones yet (for me and a few other jumpers) at Bob's for $16. OP (ocean pacific). Im trying to get the gear store to carry them so I dont have to build my own stock. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

You need to trust your canopy that it will stop your decent when you tell it to. Try not to pay attention to your forward speed (when you know you have a clear landing area that is) And focus on your altitude. I bet you would have no problem landing on a 10mph wind day because most of the forward speed is taken out of the equation. Then you just flare right before you touch down. Same if you're doing 15 across the ground. Try to just level the canopy of just above the ground (not when you get scared, when you actually get close to the ground) and keep it flying with gradual amounts of input until you can put your feet on the ground. The most common problem I see is people flaring too high and spending all of their canopies lift before they even come close to the ground. Then they are left to drop 2 or 3 feet to the ground getting the dreaded stingy landings. They suck (the landings not the people). Try to get video to have someone show you what you are doing and where you should be starting your flare. Typing instructions wont be enough but I hope this helps. Thats a nice opinion open to a lot of debate Then why can you still buy a safire1, crossfire1, omega, extreme fx, extreme vx, student zp and icarus tandem from icarus? Are you you saying that precision designed the Icarus line of canopies? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I was on the phone with Simon from icarus yesterday and I brought that up actually. When Icarus was ready to launch the safire (and omega, it affected both of them) in the US, all of the canopies were produced through license by Precision. Icarus had given the specs to PA on how to construct and measure the canopy. It was found out some months later that PA had gone on their own and used their own measuring method. Icarus decided to keep the safire and omega sizes smaller than they were stated (and never hesitated to mention, I bought a safire 209 at 90 jumps and was told of it before we got past hello) as to not cause confusion on someone haveing a european safire 209 a different size than an american one. They stopped using PA (for more than that reason) and waited until the new versions of the canopies to put the sizing back to their standard way (the same as PD). I got it too but when I got to my box there was one from pst above it appologizing for the spam. If it doesnt keep up (if it was an accidental thing) than it doesnt bother me. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I was thinking about this the other day. I could be wrong but, If you lengthen the or shorten the brake lines as much as the risers than you dont lose any of the control range. Control range is a predetermined amount of deflection of the tail from full flight. Whether the canopy is 3 inches closer or not shouldnt make a difference in the control range right? Just so long as the control lines are adjusted accordingly. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

When I say good swoop, its all relative to me being on a safire2 169 loaded just under 1.4. The other guy is grouper(rtroup) under his sabre2 170. Lets see if this works nope, didnt work Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I had a sweet one on my first hop,n,pop. I have a nice mpeg of it. Can I upload it here or do I have to wait for skydiving movies to come back online? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

The safire2 or omni are not hot rods. They have very reasonable performance. I am actually selling my safire2 169 because it doesnt dive enough for me. Getting a crossfire2 169. The safire2 is comperable to a sabre2 and the omni to a spectre or tri. Dont rule out anything (within reason) before you try it. You could be missing out on your favorite canopy. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I think I'm going to jump on that, unless one of the other guys reading this wants to bash up the price. Hey when I'm done I'll send it to whoever wants it Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

My girlfriend jumped an omni for a while before moving to a safire2. She doesnt have tremendous arm strenght and found the omni to be great on toggles and flare. From what Simon at Icarus told me the omni has a greater performance range than the omega. It was different enough and they had the demand to keep producing both. He compared the omega to the performance of the spectre and the omni closer to a 9 cell performance, ie better glide and stronger flare. They will also make you a safire1 or crossfire1 if you want, just at the same price as the second generations. Try one out. Cant lose with their moneyback guarentee!
