What exactly is a kill cone? My rigger didn't know. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy

Thanks for your input. BTW, my wife thinks I'm broke because I keep throwing money out of airplane doors, but I tell her, if they didn't want us to throw it out, why did they open the door? Wimmin. I am about to buy a CF Storm but I realize I have some questions about the pilot chute I will need and my deployment bag. (My rigger is in Florida, or I'd ask him). What size pilot chute should I get for a CF 150? If I pack using the tailpocket do I need a deployment bag? The storm I demoed used a deployment bag that helped collapse the pilot chute. If I don't use a deployment bag, what collapses the pilot chute? One last question: how come I've been working for 42 years and I'm still broke? Thanks, Dave "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. My first canopy collision, which got me hooked on CREW. Thanks, Ray! "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy

I am sure others on this forum have much more experience in this matter, but I've demoed both and they are very different. Storm CF was very crisp and lots of fun to do Crew with. Regular Storm seemed to be much less responsive, with less flare. My impressions, anyhow. I'm going for a Storm CF if the economy ever picks up. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. It is a great sport, no? I don't know anything that gives me the feeling I get just before I exit--it is spiritual, I think. A very calm and quiet mind along with razor sharp alertness. I love it too! "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy

It is refreshing to even hear about someone who isn't insanely driven to get signed off. Keep having fun. (That's an order.) "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy -
As Makeithappen wrote, very likely an unbalanced load. We have a newer front loading Whirlpool washer that will make several attempts to balance the load so it can spin. If it can't, it locks out and must be reset. Since it spins at 1200 rpm all hell would break out if it spun unbalanced. How about a model number? "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Possible inner ear problem. Google "Menier's Disease." One of the triggers is wind rushing across your ears. Freefall is usually somewhat overwhelming for beginners; the nausea may actually begin in freefall. Solution is to wear a helmet that covers the ears. (Not a Protec!) I wear my bonehead even when I do Crew. Didn't wear it recently and Bingo! --got good and nauseated. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Perhaps a lot of posters have missed the point of the poll. The question was who LIKES to work hard. I do, and I always have. If I'm not enthusiastic about something I find something else to do. I've worked hard at my trade (plumbing, for thirty years) because I like working that way. Can't do it any other way. The young guys in my shop think I'm nuts, but I'll bet I'm the happiest guy there! I like estimating the job, selling it, running the installation, and picking up the check. Is that working smart? Who cares? I love my job! "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy

Even though I'm a pup myself, a couple of weeks ago I got to dock on someone for her first introduction to CRW. Almost as much fun as the first time someone ran into me! Well it was good fun but the sky gods have asked me to go
Croc replied to shah269's topic in The Bonfire
Very sorry to hear that you got hurt. Focus on what you have to do at the moment and don't make any decisions about your future as a jumper. By all means, find out what happened so you can learn from your accident. Most likely "skygods" had nothing to do with it. What did your instructors say about your landing? Other witnesses? No PLF? Best wishes and heal fast! "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy -
I cracked a rib jumping my ZP Lightning at terminal. D-bag, regular slider, rolled the shit out of the nose. After that I always sat up ( not a recommended practice--you can fall out of your rig!). Recommended or not, it was the only way I could handle the slammer openings. After about 150 jumps I got a Spectre. Whew! "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy

You mentioned that you talked with your instructor after the jump but you didn't say anything about the debrief. What did he have to say about your jump? When I have a student who spins I retrain him on turns (and counter turns). Don't get discouraged (dis-courage--lose courage) Spins are VERY common at this level, although violent ones are rarer. When was your skydiving epiphany?

AFF # 7 with Gene Newsome. Prior to that I was very nervous--lots of door fear. But Gene rocks, first jump where I felt totally relaxed. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy -
