  1. To the OP: Get an old CRW dog to land you in the peas. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  2. Haven't changed to a pullout yet as I was going to wait until I got my new rig and then have my rigger put it together that way. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  3. I've ordered a CF Storm and I'm not sure what pilot chute to buy. I can't find a non-collapsable type, so do I just buy a kill-line type and remove the bridle? I won't be using it anyway--I'll be using the retractable bridle that comes with the main. I assume 28-30" is the right size. Is 36" too big? "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  4. Thanks for everyone who replied. We had a problem with my order but it seems that it was a mistake on the mfr's end. Problem seems to be solved. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  5. Has anyone had any dealings with this company lately? Are they still in business? I believe the owner is J. Michael Brown. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  6. Don't have one. Mine expired and mostly I just do CRW and solos. A lot of CRW dogs will ask you to turn it off if you jump with them anyhow. (Another subject of debate in the CRW community.) No issues, I'll probably get one later when I get a freefall rig. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 7. Most dealers sell used gear. Why not buy from one of them? "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  8. Just to clarify--this is not hesitation. Several observers have noticed that my PC is fully inflated and the bridle is taut. It's a tow, for sure. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  9. I do double check it. I'm thinking that I either have a wornout PC or just a crummy one. Thanks to everyone. Evidently something is wrong. I assume from your collective answers that no one has a loose closing loop. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 10. about three hundred jumps on this PC. I didn't order the PC from PD, but I ordered it all from the same guy. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  11. pull out may be the way to go. Yes, three of us do CRW at Franklin, plus anyone else we can snag. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  12. Thanks, I'll have a rigger check my kill line. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  13. It seems like I'm always towing my pilot chute when I exit with a short delay. I lenghtened my closing loop once. Do most of you CRW dogs have looser than normal closing loops on your CRW rigs? This is on my Spectre with a 28" pilot chute. BTW I had an instructor watch it for me and this is definitely not hesitation-- the pin is in until almost terminal. I ordered a CF Storm with a 28" pilot chute. I'm wondering now if I should have ordered a bigger pilot chute. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 14. Started eight years ago at age 51. I'm a slow learner, so I've learned to be careful! Welcome, and get ready to spend, spend, spend! "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  15. I lived in India for a few months. I routinely saw very small young women (less than 100 pounds) carry more than ten bricks (they used baskets) on their heads and then walk up inclined scaffolding to deliver them. Dawn to dusk. If you want to feel really puny, try to keep up with a twelve year old girl orange picker right here in the USA. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." The laid-back Cessna DZ with the best staff in the midwest. The three 182's are kept in great shape (the DZO is an FAA mechanic). Fun jumpers will love it here--no cliques, everyone is welcome. There's even a bunch of Crew dogs who are always looking for someone else to run into. First timers can be assured that their safety and enjoyment are foremost in their instructor's mind. Don't like the student program at the "other" DZ? Transfers welcome! These guys will treat you right.

Colts will run up a two score lead at the half and sit on it. I'd like to see the Vikings win, but the Saints will win a sqeaker. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  19. Can't believe no one has mentioned the mussels at Manolos in Z-Hills. Fabulous! Also memorable for the opposite reason is my first taste of asafetida in genuine Indian food in New Delhi. Yuk! It's not the risk of injury that's the problem; it's the loss of fire so that they come out flat in the playoffs. It has happened at least eight of the past ten years. It's all about mental preparation and attitude. I think (and so do a lot of fans around here) that, while resting players is a sound business decision, it is a disaster for the team's momentum. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but history is on my side, In the end, football is 90% emotion. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." So what did y'all think of Indy pulling it's starters and throwing the game? Fans here in Indy are all fired up about this tactic, some season ticket holders are giving up their seats. It has been going on for ten years and has resulted in one Superbowl. As far as I am concerned they have just lost their first round playoff game, as usual. Hope I'm wrong. Bill Polian. 22. The Mothball Fleet Abandoned by their makers The ships’ anchor chains lie slack in the passionless inland waters. Bows that once braved seas that rose like black mountains Now bear the wake-slap of pleasure craft. The guns, once deadly, are rusted to harmlessness And aim without purpose at vacant sky. Hopeless, the warships have outlived their lovers. They sleep, and yet, they dream, ghosts that they are. Under a bejeweled sky, the moon rises silvery in the East And, like a mystical celestial lodestone, it pulls. Steel and iron, long dormant, stir; desire quickens in the holds. Chains grow taut; a thrill ricochets from deck to deck and The metal moans in the pale light. A breeze arises and with it Comes the lusty song of sailors, long dead. Then, one by one, the anchors that bind the ships to land break free, And, once more, the mothball fleet puts to sea. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom.
