  1. If you can't learn to fly a pattern at least you can learn to stop arguing with people who have twenty times more jumps then you. It makes you sound like an asshole with mad skilz. Oh, duh. Plumbers?

Permits are almost never required when replacing existing piping. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy

    Plumbers?

I doubt if there is a state that does not accept PEX; it is accepted by every major code. There may be some local codes that won't accept it. (Chicago comes to mind.) Plumbers?

I'm a licensed plumber, since 1984. I'd recommend using PEX with brass insert fittings for water lines. Get a crimping tool at Home Depot. Partial replacements are a LOT of extra work and are seldom satisfactory. Bite the bullet and get rid of all the galvanized and all the valves. Remember that gas water heaters must be piped with metal pipe (you can use a copper flex connector), unless the water heater is tankless, in which case you can run PEX right into the isolation valves. Good luck, and don't forget to charge your Mom $150/ hr plus travel. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 7. Add a great DZO with a world class sense of humor, and you have Jerry's Skydiving Circus in Franklin, Indiana. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." Charles Fort, commenting on the many contradictions of astronomy
  8. Hold on there, cowboy. The American rebels could not have won the Revolutionary war without the help of the French. And the United States LOST the war of 1812, despite the fact that the British stopped impressing American sailors. (They burned the White House to the ground, remember?) 10. I sold my CF Storm and, since then, I've occasionally been doing some casual CRW with a friend while flying my sport rig, a Pilot with HMA lines. I asked Aerodyne about getting a Dacron lineset with non-cascaded A and B lines (Not red 900# A lines, just regular Dacron lines) and the person I talked to was certain it could not be done. I'm just curious--is there any downside to having non-cascaded A and B lines on a Pilot? Will it change its flight chacteristics? Safety issues? I've had Spectres with CRW linesets installed by PD, so her responce surprised me. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 13. The assasinations of Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the Vietnam War, the Hippy Movement, the resignation of President Nixon, the Cold War--that era--was far worse. The stuff going on today, amplified by the media and the internet, has, more or less, always been going on. Look up the political climate during the presidency of John Adams. Far worse. 14. I believe that the problem stems from the wording of the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment. There is some discussion as to whether it has one or three commas, but here is the version in the Library of Congress: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. I think it is clear that the Founding Fathers intended that "the people" would, mostly, be organized into Militias. These would be local organizations--groups of people who would know each other. Perhaps we need to re-think the Second amendment or require that gun owners belong to them. That would help prevent mentally unstable persons from getting guns. Nothing, of course, could prevent gun violence entirely. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 19. +1 My experience, too. On days when the weather is questionable I often don't feel like driving to the DZ, but if I do it never fails that as soon as I see a jump plane lifting off, I want to be on the next load. To the OP: unfortunately, a few jumps a month may not keep you current. More likely, you will be the guy everyone has to watch out for. (Been there, done that.) Make some friends at the DZ, and you will find a way to jump more often, and enjoy yourself more. "Here's a good specimen of my own wisdom. Something is so, except when it isn't so." 20. I did a tandem for a friend who needed it to get his rating. Pretty sure I had my D at the time. He was more nervous than I was. For me the worst part was being in the plane without a rig, but once we got out it was OK. When we got down I told the DZO that I should get a discount since I helped steer! 21. Generally below average--still! But way above average in enjoyment of this great sport. I was not athletic as a young man, so it is nuts to think I will become suddenly become well co-ordinated as an old man. But I am still making progress, and still look up every time the sky is blue. 25. In the middle of the cold war the feats of Kittinger and Yeager were not hyped at all. I remember hearing about Yeager breaking the sound barrier in elementary school, and nothing about Kittinger. In this day where every possible deed is hyped to the max, it seems natural that men who risked their lives quietly without fanfare because they saw it as their job to help their country, might be a bit miffed at the publicity Felix is getting. And Yeager is right--Kittinger broke the sound barrier first with some very primative equipment. Will you carry water for Red Bull when they land a man on the moon?
