Last time I flew to Spain it was my helmet (bagged Z1) that caused the problem. We had a bit of a row about it, but there was no way they were backing down so I ended up having to check it in. Anyody else had a problem taking a full-face as carry-on?

I met Robin (and Pudd) at an Eloy Holiday Boogie, I guess about a year before Robin was killed. I couldn't really decide whether it was fair of him to jump his dog or not, but to hear him tell it Pudd used to have a great time in the air. Robin told us that he used to bark at break-off altitude. That's one heck of an audible! It was very sad to hear about Robin's death, but I think you're right - Pudd was on the ground at the time.

Hi Scoop! I know for a fact there are a fair number of Headcorn jumpers around here, but they're obviously keeping a low profile to avoid the customary derision from other UK skydivers. If you've browsed the old threads you'll know what I'm talking about!

Connery, I guess, and then Brosnan. From what they're saying about how Daniel Craig will play him, it sounds like a return to the Tim Dalton style, which I think is a strange choice considering it's not what makes the Bond franchise so popular. If we want our spy films 'real world' (in the loosest sense), we've got the Bourne films. If they're trying to compete with those I don't think it'll work. Bond is about fantasy - that's why we're prepared to swallow the whole concept of this guy who's been around since the 60s but never really gets old and has had half a dozen different faces. He's like Dr Who, without the excuse of Time Lord reincarnation...

Congratulations to everyone, especially you first-timers. Looks like a beautiful day, too. Glad to see last year's nasty weather was a bit of a freak occurrence.

Who's going to Bridge Day?-BASErs&Non-BASErs alike!
MikeJD replied to windcatcher's topic in The Bonfire
Been for the last two years but I'm giving it a miss this time around. I got a little too wet last time. And not from landing in the river! Awesome event, though. Good luck (and blue skies!) to everyone going. -
What's the difference, definition-wise? I've flown in and jumped - I think! - microlights a couple of times. Fantastic experiences, and the more powerful and agile machines are a lot more exciting than you'd think from watching them from the ground.

Quick, gear sellers! Stock up on replacement goggles and helmet visors! Dentists might make a killing, too.

I was brought up to do this too, and I reckon I still habitually do it without really thinking about it. There aren't too many drive-by shootings in my neck of the woods, but I think as others have said it's to protect your lady friend from being splashed and stuff. It also means you're more likely to be the one taken out when some drunk driver swerves off the road!

No, that's disgusting. You could get it all over your legs and feet. Much more hygienic to do it in the sink. And there's no seat or lid to put down when you've finished.

Pah! I want some sick leave! Me! I mean - get well soon, Vicki.

Mock-ups are dangerous places. Banged heads and trapped fingers are more common than your four-man pile up, though.
-
Right on! So, is cats' purring voluntary or involuntary?
-
The trouble with paste then water is, if the water pressure is unexpectedly high, you lose your paste down the sink. Which is pretty annoying, especially if it was the last bit of paste in the tube and you've just spent ten minutes squeezing it out.

Played keyboards in a band for a couple of years. Nice job because (as the others liked to remind me) it was really a 'guitar' band, so I got to stand there and look chilled on stage without having to do very much. You drummers, on the other hand, have all the hard work and not enough recognition. All that setting up and taking down, endless soundchecking, loading and unloading your vehicle...

I have to push a big fat cat off my chest about a dozen times until he gets the message that if I can't breathe, I can't sleep.
-
Um. 'Getting naked'... 'National Underwear Day'. Does not compute. Shouldn't that be, 'National No Underwear Day'? Or 'Getting semi-naked'?

It's just the facts of life There's no master plan Walk me home from school I'll let you hold my hand You're getting ideas And when you sleep at night They develop into sweet dreams It's just the facts of life.

Think I will probably make it, for the first time in a while.

I think I'd like to have been around when the sport was new, people were making it up as they went along and there didn't seem to be any rules! At least, you wouldn't think so, to look at a lot of the photos from that era. But I'd want to be there with 21st Century gear.

Don't all pirates since Johnny Depp now talk like Keith Richards?
