Only deliberately, for theatrical effect. To say, look at me, I'm waiting for something to do. But I tried it just now, and it actually is quite comforting!

That could explain the state of many DZ toliets I've been to...

I'm in the office, so I couldn't listen to the poem. But it's a pretty freaky trip with the sound on mute.

Have visited Michigan, Florida, Arizona and West Virginia - and jumped in all of them. Not all that many, but then I am a foreigner. I've also driven through Ohio on the way to WV.

Me neither. But that's just personal taste. My suits are only shiny around the seat and the elbows.

We had twelve teams turn up for our Speed meet - probably some kind of record - and it was a beautiful sunny weekend. If I'm allowed a smidge of bad news, we weren't in the medals. Back to the good news - we didn't come last, either.

Never heard a 'novelty' ringtone that I like - they all sound equally crass to me . Can't understand the fascination. My phone does the regular, old -fashoned 'ring' thing, and I know it's mine because it's the only one that does.

I go back if it looks like I've killed a thread and I want to try and figure out why! Or if I get a reply that's totally unexpected, for the same reason...

*sigh* Not me! Somebody give me a shout when it's all over and I'll come out of hiding. The hype around this kind of thing turns me off. And yeah, I know I'm in a minority!

Rubbery shark, but still a great movie. Speaking of bad effects, most of my childhood terrors came from Dr Who. The episodes set on earth were the really scary ones cos that made it all seem possible: the sea devils, the shop mannequins that came to life (can't remember what they were called), and sometimes the cybermen. -
Clapping is infectious. It only takes one idiot to start and then lots of other people will usually join in.

I'm guessing that's a dog, right? I never heard of anyone jumping a cat.
-
Yep - what he said.

Think I can help you here because I used to work with a girl who had that very name. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to write it phonetically! Um... Do you know the British R & B artist, Lemar? Rhymes with that. Short first syllable, and the emphasis on the second one.

Really like those. Different, too. There are so many BAD skydiving t-shirts around. You should see what it would cost to get a small run of shirts made up.
-
My first two were gifts and meant a lot to me so I wore them all the time - but I managed to lose both eventually. The one I have now I got for myself and I only wear it some of the time. Most non-jumpers seem to guess it's some kind of fertility symbol

www.zip-it.com then.

Hey, I know some humans who don't manage that in a lifetime!

Ok, assuming this thread isn't totally flippant: I'm not a dog owner or expert - my pets of choice (cats) are of course indifferent to any kind of training. But aren't those punishment-based techniques only likely to increase whatever neuroses your dog has already? They would mine! There's lots of info on the web about 'problem' dog behaviour and ways to stop it. Failing that, yep - I'd say invest in some professional training. Got to be worth it for the sake of keeping the peace.
-
Yep - 'Michael' by Franz Ferdinand. But I have no desire to dance with Alex Kapranos.

I'm with Michele. Found the book really tiresome and couldn't finish it - mainly because I prefer thrillers with a kind of understated writing style and I thought the prose was just too, well, excitable. It also bugs me that really successful books like The Da Vinci Code mean that publishers suddenly flood the market with lots of other fiction with simliar titles/ themes/ cover art to try and cash in! Still, Hanks is ok and Howard is a pretty reliable director. Maybe I'll settle for the DVD.

I used to get confused like that on the approach to tool booths, when they marked some lanes 'Change' and some lanes 'No change'. Did 'No change' mean that the attendant didn't have any, or I didn't need any?

Dye it. Purple.

Yep - but what's the other movie? Was it Scary Movie 2 or 3? I know it was one of the Scary Movies. Hmm - could be. But in that case there are three movies, cos that's not the one I was thinking of...
