    Casino Royale...

Because it's a 'prequel'. Are you serious?
  2. I doubt that. In my experience Larsen & Brusgaard are among the best in the business when it comes to after-sales. They always used to supply free replacement batteries for their audibles - not sure whether they still do - and if they thought yours had run down prematurely they'd offer to take the unit back and check it out in case there was anything wrong with it. And they once supplied a free ProTrack to a friend who'd lost his during a hard opening. L & B rock!
  3. Out of interest, why only as it relates to skydiving? I think where there's a problem, that perception - that there's a difference between a skydiver and a 'real' customer - is often part of the cause. Also, any worthwhile DZO/ rigger/ gear supplier etc. ought to welcome negative feedback if it's given honestly and politely. If I was one of those, I'd rather hear it direct from a customer and have a chance to rectify it than be badmouthed on the grapevine. Since ours is a small community, giving bad service to one or two people can quickly damage your reputation. Having said all that, I'm not the best when it comes to speaking up about bad service. It's a Brit thing
  4. Yeah, I sing to my cats. It makes them stare, but I wouldn't say they get much out of it.
  5. Don't mind commercial flights, but not keen on landing in jumpships. I'm always thinking it's a pretty rare experience for the pilot, having all that additional weight in the back. If I'm flying long-haul I try not to think about being over large bodies of water (like the Atlantic). The thought of a forced landing in the ocean...
  6. It always makes me want to laugh/ cry hearing people agonising about birthdays in their twenties. Try this - imagine for a few moments that two months from today, you will turn forty, or fifty, or sixty. Then remind yourself that it was all a bad dream. Feel better?
  7. The Elbow song, 'Powder Blue'. It's doesn't really have the right feel to soundtrack a video, but it's a gorgeous song. And both versions of the chorus lyrics work spookily well for a skydiving theme (although as far as I know it's coincidental): Bring that minute back We never get so close as when The sunward flight begins I share it all with you Powder Blue Bring that minute back We never get so close to death Makes you so alive I share it all with you Powder Blue
  8. 17,500 miles per hour. Seventeen THOUSAND. I heard on the radio the other day, and I guess it's true, that if something went past you at that speed you wouldn't even see it.

  11. Nor do I, but you could certainly screw up a right-handed friend by lending them your rig!
  12. Dude, that's where you put the heroin. I think that's actually polyurethane foam. You want to have words with your dealer.
  13. Was it an FS suit, with big fat grippers? Maybe they just wanted to see what was inside them. Although even with a weight vest (that can't be X-rayed) they're normally just content to swab it.
  14. 4 out of 50 wrong on the first test. But I think the choice thing actually makes it harder. I reckon I'd have made fewer mistakes if I'd just been asked to spell those words blind without being offered the incorrect versions!
  15. Um, I'm confused. I expected to be struggling to hear it, but it's very clear to me (even with the volume low) and doesn't even sound that high-pitched. But maybe the fact that I didn't find it annoying means there is something wrong with my ears anyway
  16. Your instructor should give you all the briefing you need and be able to put you at ease. But in my experience... It's easy to talk yourself out of being able to see the landing area. The key if you don't spot it right away is to relax, and look again! It's unlikely that as a student (and jumping in relatively light winds) it will be far from you when your canopy opens. One of the most common places to 'lose' the DZ is indeed directly under your feet
  17. About 36 hours. Came back from a trip to the States on an overnight flight, didn't sleep on the plane (I rarely do) and went straight on to do a long day at work. Can't compete with some of the people on here though - four days, without drugs? . I want to hear more about the resulting psychosis! Euphoria is what I tend to get with extreme tiredness.
  18. Don't know you, or your puppy, and that has still made my day! Hope things go smoothly from here on.
  19. Because if you want to meet a skydiver your best bet is at the dropzone! I have heard rumours of 'swinging' there, too.
  20. Tried to take a look but my corporate proxy places that site in the "Sex" category. Is that fair, or does it just not like the word 'flash'?
  21. At the cinema, MI:3. I really liked it!
  22. Fixed it for ya. Not that it really mattered.
