Performance Flying - article to download
KrisFlyZ replied to unclecharlie95's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I heard direct from Loic that someone from the university wanted to do a study on his wingsuit design. He did not say that his design is wind tunnel tested. I don't know about the rest. I have opinions as to why some companies needed to do that but, they are not appropriate for this thread. Kris. -

I am looking at the white wing and halfway down it looks like outward tension has deformed the wing from forming a smooth curve. Kris. -

The V1 has one mylar rib in the arm wings. The one closest to the fingers. Just want to make an observation. If you wear glasses, the natural instinct will be to look thru the center of the lens and it is extra hard to keep the chin to chest if you are looking where you are going. Kris. -
Nice!! Have fun!! I ordered mine this week. Kris.

No need, I already said I was mistaken. That is not what I wanted him to say. I just like the prof's way of explaining things.

I have jumped from two objects so far and have walked away from both on occasion. One of them is the Potato bridge. I am pretty sure I will get a Chicken BASE # before BASE(if I get that at all). Kris.

Where is Kallend when you need him? Clear up this fight between students will ya please prof? Kris.

What is the fastest wingsuit available at the moment?
KrisFlyZ replied to Trae's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Just theory here....... As you may already know an important difference between the Skyflyer and the S3 was thinner wings. From what I have seen, the S3-S is just and S3 with peices of Mylar sewn into the ribs(these have no specific shape they are just triangles, unlike the mylar in the Vampire V-1 wings that are cut in a definate shape). I welcome anyone that has both suits(maybe a birdman rep) to post pictures with a list of differences between the S3 wing profile and the S3-S wing profile. Kris. -

Woa Kris, you taking your suit off objects already? I'm out of the loop! It was a one trip thing. I will not be taking that amount of risk in the next year or two. It may have made me the first Indian to have flown a WS off an object though. Kris. -

KrisFlyZ replied to Trae's topic in Wing Suit Flying
For me the Vampire V1 has been the fastest suit so far. I flew my S3 at an 87 mph average on one of the jumps. The V1 average speeds I calculated back from the WS BASE jumps last week were in the high ninetys. Kris. -
Only 3 jumps, but I have been preparing for these jumps for almost two years. Kris.

Finnish News Article: Dressed to...fly? The Finnish Birdman
KrisFlyZ replied to cpoxon's topic in Wing Suit Flying
I don't think the article was researched. It is a case of the author writing what he was told. It certainly has some of Jari's trademark embellishment. Kris. -
I had my S-Fly modified for the exact same reason. Too long for thick heeled shoes to fix. But this is an easy mod on the S-Fly since the bootie is kinda seperate from the suit. Kris.

Sounds like Zhills is as fun as ever. Maybe I'll make it next year.... Kris.

Awesome Video!! What is the distance between the exit point and the Bar?? Kris.

The snaps where the leg wing is supposed to be fastened are reinforced on the S3(atleast they were on mine from the factory). The GTI does not have these reinforcements from the factory. Dropping the snaps was a bad idea. I'll bet a lot of people that have brought the newer suits will request them. I think dropping things like snaps, the little pocket to stow the extra LQRS cable, increase production speed. Just like not making standard size suits speeds up production times. So you want your suit faster? You can't get everything you wanted then. Kris.

Duuuuuuude!! . See you there!! kris.

He lived to talk about it and it made for some cool video. Enjoyed that!! Can you get from him what height he eventually pulled at? Looks like 200'. Kris.

Must be a work thing ...not working at work for me. Kris.

Spaceland Anomoly Wins Freefly Open!!

Congratulations!! Kris. -
Sometimes one, sometimes the other. I am pretty good at handling tasks and managing my time at work. Once I get home, it is a different story. Kris.

Yeah. As the flocks get bigger, break off procedures need to be re-addressed. Even though the organizer always says..clear your air space and give a strong deployment signal. Most of us at one time or another are guilty of concentrating on maxing out for maybe too long. If a big formation breaks off and everyone flies for 20-25 secs after breakoff, there may be issues of proximity on opening. Kris.

I have a feeling that even, though the leg stance is very wide(and I do mean very wide), the suit is probably not supposed to be flown with the full width in use. There is a picture of Robi flying it(James is also in the picture flying a Vampire) and Robi is not flying it with the widest leg stance possible. There is a nice arc to the leg wing. Kris.
