Outside of Rupert Murdoch claiming that the Iraq war would bring us $25/barrel again most anyone with a clue knew that this was coming. This is a very real law and it is often enforced. In a very short period of time we had a State Trooper and a highway construction worker killed while on duty. A few weeks later several more construction workers were hit as well. They found that outside of Chicago city limits, most people were doing 60-75mph in construction speed zones, even if workers were present. So Scott's Law went into effect. Also, if you are caught speeding in a construction zone it's a $500 fee first time and automatic notice to your insurance company. If you hit a worker or state employee on the highway first offense is 14 years jail time and $100,000 fee. Also, in case you haven't noticed, they have put up speed cameras in construction zones now as well. I haven't had a car in about a year but I know there used to be signs at every toll booth about yielding to emergency vehicles and changing lanes for cop cars on the shoulder. There is one for the Midway Airport exit and I think there is one at O'hare as well. Also every 1 mile in a construction zone has reminders on the fee/fine for speeding/hitting. So basically Apple released a phone with the technology that was already old when the first version came out. He took everyone for a ride at $399 and now is going to get all the fanboys to drop another huge chunk of change to get slightly up to date with the rest of the smartphone crowd. Oh ya, then there is the increase AT&T is including with the phone plan if you upgrade to 2.0. Meanwhile, I've had all the same technology on my phone for the last 2.5 years at a cheaper cost and a cheaper phone plan. Having real GPS in my phone over the last year has been a very nice thing at times. Plus full native support of all Adobe and MS document formats. Also, full support of every IM client and google mail, yahoo mail, hotmail and full Exchange Enterprise integration. If you want to toss out the 16gb of memory for music an iTunes support, go ahead. I prefer my $14/month subscription to Zune that allows me to download as many songs as I want. I've already downloaded 7000 songs from Zune in three months! There's a term for this kind of activity........wait, um.... hang on...it's.......oh yeah. Whoring. Interesting enough, Hooters is now apparently a family restaurant. A bunch of us guys went there for some beers over dinner last weekend around 5pm on a Saturday. There was a line to get in because a bunch of 4th grade kids and their families were there after a baseball game. Along with all the other families there the place was full. This also happened to be in one of the bigger suburbs here around town and there is no less than 35 other restaurants within a 3 mile radius of it. Everything in moderation. Hiding out in a dark room all day is just as bad as baking your body to a crispy brown several hours every day during the summer. My friend's wife was a chronic tanner and I think she spent our entire trip in Mexico on the sun deck. I ran into the same issue about a year a go, but the hospital sold the charge off to a collection agency. Each time I've warned them of reporting them, they sell it off to another company and restart the process. I already pay too much on a yearly basis for shitty medical coverage, I'm not going to pay more for their billing mistakes. Medial insurance is just awful. edit to add: Along the same lines, I am getting letters from a law firm claiming I have $200 in unpaid parking fines from early this year. No doubt, and I didn't argue that with you. However if they are closing four plants and sales are down it's because the economic impact of driving one is greater than the status icon of having one. Those that still need them will get one either way. We will see more of this. Those sitting in a board room will make an choice and the blue collars will suffer. I don't have an issue with people using an SUV or pickup if your family, farm, or profession needs it. But there are too many places where they have been a status icon for far too long. Why do people in downtown NYC, Chicago, Vegas, LA need to drive one with only one person in the middle of city traffic. Then go to Dallas/Ft Worth and look at everyone driving them in loops around town on the weekend. You will see that far more often than someone using one for its intended purpose. Accuracy? Realism? Don't care about that. If I did I would talk about gold/gun powder and magnetism. It was a terrible movie. It had no story to tell. I didn't rip into Batman Begins because it was good, the same for Ironman. Spiderman 3 suffered from the same issues as Indy: It was just bad, poor direction, terrible script and couldn't tell a story. btw, I went and saw it again with some free tickets.
