  1. Most things coming from the McCain campaign make me question if they are trying to lose. McCain continue to say the wrong thing, has to be in front of preprogrammed town halls, flip flops on everything.....and then makes claims that Iraq and Pakistan share a border!! On top of that you have the Bush admin taking away two of his biggest talking points: appeasement ang troop withdrawal. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 2. http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,1825337,00.html Very interesting to see such a large, mainstream piece of media go out on a ledge like this. Plus they have the courage to be completely honest on the state of media in this election: _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 3. Yeah sure, from the guy who tried to get ME to post it. I ain't falling for no bannable post! It's a "joke" that has been circulated via goofy morning radio shows since a few days after his death. The joke is original as "The Titanic sinks" and "Jesus dies" following movies related to them. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. Pity you don't live in a town where they have real digital theaters then. Have you heard of these Ultra-Screens that are going up? I know Marcus Theater has them and they are put up on huge screens with decent sound systems. What I can't tell is if they are using typical 35mm projectors. They call them "IMAX" substitutes and I don't see how that is possible. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 6. And that is also part of what I like about real movie theaters. There is something about sitting in a dark room with hundreds of people and feeling their reaction to something HUGE going on. There are also times that sucks . . . so I guess it's a bit of a flip of the coin there. Heads you win . . . The contrast ratio on my camera still seemed a bit low. I was on the right hand side of the screen and the bottom left was too dark for my taste. I'm going back to see it again tomorrow on a regular screen and will most likely see it on IMAX at least one more time. edit: For those that know me....this movie had me speechless afterwards. I don't think I said much of anything till I got home. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  7. Easily one of the best movies I have ever seen. Heath Ledger as the Joker is a HUGE part of that. I didn't think this movie could live up to the hype. And seeing it in IMAX blew me away. I'll be doing that again as soon as it's not sold out _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  8. Look forward to reading the book. He used to pass on so many of his stories on weather days and I've always been interested to hear the rest. Hopefully the jailbreak story is in there. Roger always took the negative attention better than anyone I've ever met. He was a great guy and it's amazing to see how much of an impact he had on others. Still miss him. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  9. PC > *, always. You can tell this isn't a large gaming community. You just touched on one of the hottest, most debated topics in that industry. Any other forum and this would be at 1000 pages already with quotes from Valve, Bioware, Microsoft, Blizzard, id, etc. Even with the popularity of gaming these days, the ratio of PC:Console has pretty much stayed the same. Most of this is due to the typical lifecycle of gaming. That being said, between me and my roommate we own every single console system going back to Intellivision. edit: btw, I've recently had a company discuss with me the possibility of moving out of state to start working for them on a possible big name title as a tester. I just wasn't a fan of rebooting my career at this point of my life and taking such a huge pay cut. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 10. I originally quit the game shortly after you did since it got really boring after a bunch of you left. Then all my local friends started to play more and they asked me to play with them.....and then they all quit. So ya, wasn't much to stick around for anymore. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  11. I never really paid attention to 95% of the quests. I installed a mod that had all the answers next to the text quest and would put an arrow on my map on where to go next. I already knew the lore so doing the quests was like reading a book in slow motion. Plus I fully customized my UI to remove some of the more painful elements of gameplay. I made up into part of Sunwell and called it quits out of boredom. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 12. It's an evil game that you should stop playing! Too damn addictive. I played it for about 2.5 years and did all the end game stuff and competed for the "records" aka epeen. A pally eh? Figured you would go Night Elf Druid and play kitty. edit: AoC is a nice change of pace from that game btw. Lots of fun despite the bugs. I'd talk about Warhammer but I'm still under the beta NDA. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 13. What does this mean: And somehow he connects this to his speech on bailing out Mae/Mac?? Could he try to confound the issues here any more? Um, doesn't he know those are both government agencies? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  14. Is there any reason in the world why they crushed the EV and EV1? Liability? Something else? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  15. GM and Ford are currently considering bankruptcy options. They have financial issues because they banked on always selling large SUVs and pickup trucks. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 16. Curious how Bush does this today. The attack in Afghanistan should have been the top news story worldwide: insurgents mounting a full assault on a US base killing multiple soldiers. I consider this a suspect move since Bush's own energy administration has provided proof that any new drilling wouldn't have an impact on our economy before 2031. Then he has the balls to blame the "Democratic" congress for our on going hardships . He is playing off their own low approval ratings to try to force this through. Another example of his recent spin moves: saying he was going to withdraw troops from Iraq. Just happened that the quiet footnote on it was that they were sending them over to Afghanistan because he mismanaged that battlefront and now it has gone to shit as well. So, I call a huge "bullshit" on this one to Bush. I plan on stealing that quote. And according to recent wind maps of the world provided by NASA, up to 15% of the world's energy demand can be met just by placing turbine farms in the right places. This isn't a random possibility, like oil exploration, but a confirmed number from years of observations. You could spend the money on that infrastructure and get a clean, renewable source. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 17. This generation's S&L? Everything old is new again. The ramifications of either one of them falling under would be dramatic for this country and most of the world. The real issue started when they allowed both to go public, something that should have never been allowed to happen. I vote yes to bailing them out because that will cost less in the end run. As it stands getting credit in this country is becoming a tough thing, even for companies. Now banks are running into credit line issues and we could see over 300 of them collapse starting by December; of course those that dealt with sub-prime loans will go under first. But the inability of the US to make its own line of credit will disrupt our ability to play in the world market. From what I have read, defaulted loans are not the biggest reason behind this, but the entire sub prime market. You should look up collateralized debt obligation and see an area that doesn't get enough blame. One of the biggest players in this market is ABN Amro/LaSalle which is now Bank of America. Over simplified, plain english explanation http://opinion.inquirer.net/inquireropinion/talkofthetown/view/20080330-127263/How-the-subprime-crisis-began edit: And this is the problem I have with the financial world these days. Everything is about perception. The perception of slow or no growth, the perception that the debt may be risky and down the line it could cause issues, perception that we will have another 70s oil crisis over the summer, etc We are in a financial crunch in the US because of a bunch of bean counters making random guesses over what may or may not happen. They are not doing this to protect anyone but themselves. And since Fannie and Freddie felt they needed to beat out those perceptions, they became more aggressive in the marketplace when the perception of bad mortgage debt came around. Damn vicious circle, and it's all because of these so called financial leaders. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 18. Well, McCain won't be getting my vote either. Yup, third election in a row where I get to throw my vote for President away. Not that it matters in such a strong blue state anyhow. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  19. Clearly you haven't been paying attention if you think I make my choices along something as inane as a party line. *looks at posting record* Uh-huh.... Then you would notice me openly supporting Ron Paul and Kuchinch equally from the start of the Primary Season. Whatever will you do with that one? If you want, I can email you my IRC logs from 1999 when I was very vocal against a certain Texan from getting the White House. You would also be able to see me not supporting Clinton during his lame duck years. Again, I think you are just ready with the same rhetoric for most posters to lead all threads down the same road. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  20. No, just boring me an interrupting a decent thread without any of the usual fluff BS. I know it's not a common thing about these parts, but you can actually have a conversation on the internet! At this point I'm certain you see what you want and have preprogrammed responses ready to go. Here is the point I've tried multiple times to get across to you: I don't blindly support one side but I am certainly of a liberal mindset. I am a registered Independent voter and never once have I voted on party lines. Therefore you shouldn't use your typical responses with me because they have no impact here other than getting me to roll my eyes. Just spend a moment and look over what I put in this thread and show me which party I defended? Last time I looked I called out everyone in the House, Senate and White House for being at fault. I also pointed out that the crime was committed by the Bush Administration. Notice I also used a Republican to defend my point of view and I posted how I was no longer voting for Obama. So that right there shows your assumptions to be poorly chosen this time. In addition to that Rushmc challenged me and I said I would revisit the documentation and come back after a second read. See how this works? It seems like you do a decent amount of reading on your own as well and could very well bring something to the table. Instead, it's more about gunslinging to the quickest and wittiest slam you can come up with. Is that really all SC is now? If so, just ignore my posts because you won't find me playing along. I know I am about ready to be done with SC for good if this endless circle jerk or same replies and topics continue. How many years of it will it take before people get bored of that? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  21. Once again, you don't pay attention much to my posts if you think I fall in line with inane party lines when forming my thoughts and opinions. Please stop because it just makes me roll my eyes at the reply. And do you really need to ask "who's fault is this" when my own statements clearly point that out? By the way, that question is rhetorical. Doesn't it get boring running in circles saying the same thing to the same people every day on every topic even if it doesn't match the topic? I'm not here to score one in my "internets win" column. If you want to have a conversation as an adult, I welcome it. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. I was trying to find more on that story above, and this is all I found AOL News Blog (what the hell does that mean?) http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/07/10/mccain-lies-to-vet-about-voting-record/ A site claiming neutral media (if you have to claim that, you are doing it wrong) http://www.washingtonindependent.com/view/mccain-faces-mixed Military.com forums http://forums.military.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/69719858/m/7700017091001 MSNBC FORUMS. http://boards.msn.com/MSNBCboards/thread.aspx?threadid=719336&boardsparam=Page%3D6 And the closest thing to main stream media: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/07/AR2008070701672_5.html Well, thinkprogress.com seems to have a link as well, but that is a pretty far left leaning site. From there I see all forums off major sites talking about it like Huff Post, democratic.com, etc. Can anyone find a major news outlet that reported this? EDIT: I just turned off my script blocker on Firefox to see the AOL link above shows Countdown with the guest host talking about it. So, MSNBC showed video of it then. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  23. btw, since it hasn't been mentioned.....Rove made sure he was out of the country yesterday. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  24. Most pardons are done during the last hours. I expect his list to be a doozy. Clinton pardoned 456. W. Bush so far is up to 157. Clinton pardoned 140 in his last hours as president. So judging by that I am pretty sure and willing to place a wager on Clinton's list will be significantly larger. However, what I find funniest/most hypocritical is how Clinton supporters will still make this a topic of discussion. I guess the Clinton supporters are banking on the general population being to stupid to research the facts. Its a pitty that this kind of strategy works. Clinton did a bit more damage than that in his final hours as well. You may want to go back and look at the changes he made to medical coverage as well. It wasn't all that popular around these boards because it had a negative impact on most skydivers. That said, I am expecting Bush to do just as much damage in his final days. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 25. Found this relevant. Someone posted this on another site I'm active on. For those that care, the guy who posted this did two tours in Iraq with the Marines. I have to admit, I'm pretty active on most every news site on both sides and I didn't see this at all. That's some pretty damning material there. But since it touched his Vet background, everyone skipped it. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
