Congress pisses all over the 4th Amendment
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
They will be given immunity for everything they have done on this. I don't think people full understand the extent of what was handed over. EVERYTHING WAS HANDED OVER. There is nothing you have done on the web in the last few years that has not been STORED for use for the government. They used loopholes to go beyond breaking the 4th Amendment. This is what I am trying to point out, the slippery slope on this has ALREADY begun. There is no need to request a wiretap, the info is already on hand for them. The telecoms spent so much on it because they know exactly how far this has gone and it scares them of the possible repercussions. Here ya go, it's a couple years old now, but this is how they went beyond what was originally asked: A proposed new FBI program would skirt federal laws by paying private companies to hold millions of phone and Internet records which the bureau is barred from keeping itself, experts say. The $5 million project would apparently pay private firms to store at least two years' worth of telephone and Internet activity by millions of Americans, few of whom would ever be considered a suspect in any terrorism, intelligence or criminal matter. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Congress pisses all over the 4th Amendment
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Sorry to say that I was expecting this to be the first response. People care more about what Rev Wright did or didn't say and will go on about it passionately for weeks on end. But when it comes to removing one of our basic American rights they are flippant. Go back and look up the McCarthy era again. This allows the same thing to happen, and worse. It may not impact you today but it will down the line. It's a slippery slope. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Congress pisses all over the 4th Amendment
ChasingBlueSky replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
So where are all the defenders of the 2nd?? They get very up in arms (pun) about changes and laws connected to it. I guess it just takes $50 million to change the Bill of Rights. I'm ashamed of this country right now, and pissed that neither candidate has the balls to address this topic in public. Basically this is the full and complete embrace of Big Brother in the USA. This is the end of personal data security and privacy. Nothing you own will ever be safe if the Gov't feels they should look at it. This is bullshit. All these telecoms need to be dragged into court as does the White House for violating American Citizen rights. The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/20/washington/20fisa.html?_r=2&hp=&adxnnlx=1213964191-DVSSeUZbkQCte/EprSVzsA&pagewanted=print&oref=slogin Congress Strikes Deal to Overhaul Wiretap Law _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... The Pattern feels like something that could have been part of his Lost mythology. In fact I would go so far to guess that Fringe came about from some brainstorming related to that show. Overall not bad and it will get me watching the rest of the first season. I must admit that the stuff with John was very predictable towards the end. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Why did the X games drop skysurfing?
ChasingBlueSky replied to morris's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The skydiving segments were always done offsite, away from crowds. The entire thing was put together in post production and in the last year they try to choose a more scenic landing area as well. Even the play by play was dubbed in after the fact. Xgames wanted crowds. They could create a better brand that way, make more money, make new x-sport icons, and have it last longer. It didn't make much sense to skydivers when it happened, but seeing what the Xgames have become, it makes more sense now. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Notice to Americans - This Energy Crisis is Worldwide

https://www.theice.com/oil_indices.jhtml Things like the ICE Brent Futures set the prices. The majority of the interests involved in that are American and British. That impacts crude prices more than anything else in the world. It's driven by profit, not supply/demand or oil or how much is pumped/consumed per day. Now, do Oil Companies play in that market? If so they are just as much responsible as the rest of the oil future traders. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Notice to Americans - This Energy Crisis is Worldwide
ChasingBlueSky replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
From my understanding, most of the oil markets are controlled outside of OPECs control. Things like the ICE Futures Brent Index dictate the price of crude. That is mostly controlled by American and British interests. Notice to Americans - This Energy Crisis is Worldwide
ChasingBlueSky replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
It always annoys me when someone classifies an entire country off of what is seen in the popular media. Even thou you claim "in general" the overall tone of your post is that all Americans feel this way. Considering you are American and are making this post should have forced you to change your wording. Your statement should read "vocal Americans in general seem to ignore the fact....." Anyone with a bit of education and the ability to remove the nationalistic blinders in this country already knows what the global situation is. Too bad our White Administration isn't included in that. I really wish there was a way to avoid paying taxes if your candidate didn't get voted into office. It would force more people to vote and pay attention...and it would force the politicians to respect the views of the nation. Yes, it's a pipe dream and I understand the realistic downfall of such an option. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... For anyone driving through the land of Lincoln...

http://www.suntimes.com/news/24-7/1000239,workerhit061108.article Worker killed, another injured after hit on I-57 June 11, 2008 Illinois State Police have captured the driver in a hit-and-run crash on 1-57 that police say left one highway worker dead and another seriously injured Wednesday afternoon. Two right lanes remain closed as of 4:25 p.m. on southbound I-57 after two highway safety workers, contracted by the Illinois Department of Transportation, were struck, Illinois State Police Sgt. Luis Gutierrez said. Northbound lanes have not been affected, an ISP District Chicago trooper said. The hit-and-run crash occurred about 2:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes near 119th Street. The workers, two men, were removing a sign warning drivers about a lane closure due to road work, according to IDOT spokesman Mike Claffey. Both were seriously injured and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. One worker has died at Advocate Christ, Gutierrez said at 4:25 p.m. The Cook County Medical Examiner's office had not been notified of the fatality as of 4:25 p.m. The driver also struck a construction truck while fleeing the scene, the trooper said. Responding troopers apprehended the driver shortly after the crash, Gutierrez said. He remains in custody but no charges had been filed as of 4:25 p.m. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... There was a recent news article talking about SUV's getting drained that way since it's easier to stay out of site. It's better not to lock your tank down so you don't have to pay for repairs. Expect this sort of thing to get worse. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Techindustry unreasonable profits tax?
ChasingBlueSky replied to DrewEckhardt's topic in Speakers Corner
Tell me this, what was the last Google product you purchased? When was the last time you used their product? When was the last time the Gov't ruled against any oil company as a monopoly and forced them to give away their source code for free? When was the last time someone was able to reverse engineer oil and offer you a dozen free versions of what you normally pay for? How many oil companies offer low sum carbon footprint products? How much of oil is pirated and freely distributed across the entire globe? (at a massive profit loss and the cost of burden to create that product). What oil company has been ruled against by the court that they couldn't use the form of piracy protection they wanted to ensure their revenue stream? Is oil as transparent as the IT industry when it comes to IPOs and public trading? When was the last time the entire EU told oil company they had to keep supporting an outdated product and would fine them massively if they didn't? All this again causing more financial strain on them. Apples and Oranges my friend. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -

Ok, tap the few remaining wells, and build the pipeline to deliver it across many miles to a refinery.. Then what? Drilling is a band aid since it doesn't make it a renewable resource. It's simple math no matter what side of the drilling debate you are on. Increasing demand and a shrinking supply that will come to an end. You know that Dubai is being built up as a tourism spot because they identified their dominance for oil is coming to an end? Notice how quick they are putting all of that in? The rest of the world needs to take that hint and run with it. At best we are already 10-15 years behind on research than where we should be. Hell, the mass produced combustion engine hasn't seen that many upgrades over the last 40 years to make it that much more efficient. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Obama Backs Oil Profits Tax, Attacks McCain
ChasingBlueSky replied to StreetScooby's topic in Speakers Corner
It won't have any impact. You still have the infrastructure and exploration costs that will be pushed onto us. Also the oil won't be pushed to market right away and some will even be used to top off our reserves. It's a short term solution with no vision since it uses a resource with an expiration date on it. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
