Just means he opened it up to another round of interpretations by lower courts.....which means we will see this back in the SCOTUS again if the NRA doesn't like what they come up with.     How so? Does it super cede the state's right to prevent someone from possessing any weapon? I would think it does, but I guess we will soon see that in a Chicago court to find out for certain. Does this deny waiting periods for guns? Could suicidal people be denied their constitutional right to carry a weapon? Would that be constitutional? Is Scalia's list dicta or part of the holding?     Last I checked I'm liberal and support this. Also, not sure where Obama has looked like a fool on much, can't say the same about McCain who seems to have memory loss worse that Regan ever did. Gonna miss Russert calling him out on those moments. Interesting enough is that this is is very anti-conservative as it's more big government telling the States what to do.     Why don't you take your concerns for the 4th Amendment to another thread. This one is about the 2nd. Funny since you are the one that post mostly about the 2nd and 4th rights, or do you only care to point out when other countries are losing the freedom the 4th gives us? Interesting enough when the 2nd came up in my 4th Amendment post I didn't say GTFO. The comparison was drawn there, so I am making it here.     Now if someone would only bring the FISA changes to them so we could protect our 4th Amendment rights as well. I guess personal privacy isn't as important eh The NRA is funded by membership dues and fundraising alone. There is no big industry dollars behind it. So even if they had the will to work outside its defined scope, it doesn't have the means to take on every other government abuse of the BoRs. And we have the telecoms giving thousands to the Dems to vote for FISA, and money to everyone else to vote for it as well. $50 million has been spent to take away your 4th, and no one seems to care. It amuses me that staunch constitutional supporters get flippant about this. ....and there is the ACLU, but how many people listen to them about your 4th? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....     Is this like Bush pledging for cleaner coal, putting $10B into research that is hard to track down, announce a zero emission plant that was supposed to be completed this year and then pulled the plug on it when he hit official lame duck status? Then he told the DOE that the cost of building it would be greater than expected and if they wanted to, they could fund it themselves without any gov't help. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....     Have we had a rise in the terror color warning since Bush won again in 2004? Now go back and look at how many times the color warning changed in the lead up to the election in 2002 and 2003....and notice that it happened around the same time the Dem's made a strong move for change. Then a weak or two later it was announced quietly that the warning was often raised on expired information and the threat was no longer real. Mutually Assured Destruction as a deterrent is old school. Most of our threats do not come from a nation anymore, and you only need a handful of bombs to keep up the same level of MAD.     That's pretty much been the standard in Chicago for years. Growing up I got to hear stories from family members that were cops, and now a good portion of my high school buddies carry a badge and tell me the same thing. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....     You know that people were arrested that were not part of the protest? People who were downtown shopping and just walking by and happened to be on that block, including people who live in that area. My ex's friend was trying to leave because the protest wasn't going according to what he believed. There was no warning from the cops and he, along with bystanders that were trying to leave the area, were stopped by CPD and told to wait.     Call my company's lawyer and ask first. Then get a second opinion. I'm not going to expose myself or my company because some power hungry idiot with a badge is demanding information from me. I've personally been issued a subpoena from another company while at work for professional reasons, and we have had cops show up and demand information. In each case we just said you have to wait till our lawyer advise us.     I do have to say one thing, if they did lose immunity I'm not sure what would ever happen. Due to national security they would bury all the evidence and no one would be able to show damages for a civil case. Would they be able to do a criminal and who would they chase after? A SCOTUS ruling on this would be our best option but with a 5-4 ruling on Habeas Corpus I'm not sure they would rule correctly anymore. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Reid said he would attempt to remove the amnesty provision in the bill. That effort should be helped by Obama's opposition to the provision.     Trying to find it now. The context was that all the information to protect our country is there and accessible. However the refusal of the CIA/NSA/FBI to communicate and share that information is the real issue.     You are kidding me, right? Under the guise of the Patriot Act plenty of rights have been violated. During an organized and approved war protest, Chicago Police arrested large crowds of the peaceful protesters. One was my ex's friend and we were unable to locate him nor was his lawyer. He was being held as a domestic terrorist and denied access to his lawyer under the Patriot Act.     Do you know that the former head of the CIA has said that the changes to FISA are not needed at all.
