I would have to agree with that.

Coyotes kill woman on hike in Canadian park
Andrewwhyte replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh bullshit! You may wish it to be that way, and you may believe the constitution to be written that way, but it simply doesn't play that way. You are not allowed to carry a firearm at school. You are not allowed to carry a firearm at court. there are many places it is simply not allowed. We just draw the line in different places in different countries. -
Coyotes kill woman on hike in Canadian park
Andrewwhyte replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Why? I kind of like the sound of wild animals roaming around, just like they have for thousands of years. Of course, I'm not a rancher with livestock to protect. But as a camper, I like the coyotes howling at night. In some places where the ranchers have shot, poisoned and otherwise killed off all the coyotes, it is too quiet at night. Agreed. The pack that lives by our DZ will go after the local calves despite their small size. The cattle really kick it up when they lose one. -

The ones I've seen here in Alberta are not much bigger than the foxes; smaller than the city ones in Vancouver. -
Have you talked to the instructors and coaches where you jump? If you have and they are OK with it you should find somewhere else to jump.

When buying your first rig you want to get it right because it is a fair sized outlay of cash. One thing newbies tend not to consider is the strong possibility that you will want something different fairly soon (say 100 jumps from now) and resale value and ease is very important. The Sabre 1 is a more advanced generation of canopy and tends to hold its value better than a PD 170. This doesn't mean that it is necessarily the better deal, but it is a factor you should consider.

Trust me there are politicians that would like to regulate the 99.99% of Canada that is "wild." They haven't gotten control quite yet. BTW when you are hunting in Algonquin Provincial Park watch out for wardens. -

I found some today at a specialty meat shop. Not sure it will be thawed in time for dinner tonight. -

I wasn't aware firearms were allowed in national parks in US; they are not in Canada. -

Are there boar in the bush in Ontario? Seems so. Believe it or not, Ontario's Ministry of Agriculture actually has a web page specifically dedicated to "Ontario's Wild boar industry." http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/livestock/alternat/wildboar.htm Your tax dollars at work. Actually from that it seems that there are some on farms but not in the bush. Apparently they are found on one farm here in Alberta as well. I have never seen the meat for sale. -

Didn't know there was a specific technique for that one. Seriously I think the one you describe is usually referred to as a tube or wagon wheel.

Does your DZ give refunds?
Andrewwhyte replied to XitXitXit's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Absolutely! If the customer breaks the appointment that is what the deposit is for. If the dz cannot provide the service, say for weather, then they must refund. The solo FJC is a little trickier as the customer may well feel that the product is, and only is, the jump. The DZ on the other hand feels that the course is the larger part of the course and one jump package. At our place the customer who cannot reschedule after taking the course and not jumping (usually due to wind) is offered a refund for the jump which is priced the same as a second jump. The same offer is available for those who choose not to board the aircraft. -

So I hear. I don't think they exist anywhere up here. I would love to try them someday. -
Coyotes kill woman on hike in Canadian park

Nonetheless I enjoyed a nice hike in Jasper National Park last week yet again without a gun (like everyone else in the park). My African companion was quite nervous about bears (a lot of warning signs) but, having encountered bears countless times before I was not too concerned. Mountain lions, on the other hand do concern me although I have never heard of one attacking two grown men. Mostly they attack children or single adults. -

According to National Geographic (State of the Earth 2010 special edition P 72) 59% of all US agricultural production is feed for livestock. -
Coyotes kill woman on hike in Canadian park
Andrewwhyte replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
She was in a national park so, no, she was not carrying a gun. I am somewhat saddened by your comments about fools and food. I have spent most of my life living in rural, mostly forested places in eastern Canada, Yukon and the western arctic.. Unless I was hunting the only time I carried a gun was when in polar bear country. Are you afraid to go into a park? You know humans existed for along time before guns were invented. -
Question for Canadian Jumpers
Andrewwhyte replied to sasslife's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
South of Calgary there is also Vertical Extreme located in Vulcan (yes they do have a starship on a pedistal at the edge of town). Hutch is open in late April or early May with 2 182s. Your best bet is to visit us at Edmonton Skydivers starting in late March. We will be running a 182 on Steroids until late April when the King Air arrives. -
Well, the ones on the side that we intervened on do anyway. The Albanianization (sic) of Kosovo was no different than the Chinesization of Tibet or the protestantization of Ulster. We tend to support the original communities in those conflicts, why did we support the interlopers in Kosovo?

When we first went into Afghanistan, even with the reduced capacity due to the Iraq campaign, the Taliban simply re-located their strength into Pakistan. No that Pakistan is fighting them head on, it would be foolhardy to allow them to just move back into Afghanistan. We can beat these people back, but it must be done in both Afghanistan and Pakistan at the same time.

It is amazing how you can take such a myopic view on what is clearly not a domestic US event or reaction. -
Conservative vs. Liberal - interesting perspective
Andrewwhyte replied to billeisele's topic in Speakers Corner
If a liberal doesn't like recreational drugs, he doesn't buy any. If a conservative reactionary doesn't like them, he declares a war against them. If a liberal is straight he chases girls. If a conservative reactionary is straight, he chases fags. -
and you want these clowns to manage health care??

I really didn't think it was being sold as an economic plan with environmental benefits. Rather it was supposed to be an environmental plan with economic serendipity.
