  1. Yes. It would deter illegal immigration and drug trafficing. Damn protectionists! putting up non-tariff barriers every time we turn around.
  2. Because they cost a hell of a lot more to operate and maintain than landmines. Now if you have a cheaper/more effective solution than mines I'm all ears. BTW, the mines also choose who they kill/maim. The people who go into the restricted "Caution Mines" zone. Are you including the cost of expropriating all the land in Chula Vista, El Paso, Buffalo and Detroit as well as all the small towns within 10 miles of the border? BTW Drones already patrol the Canada-US border. www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2009/02/.../drones-border.html Clearly the response of someone who does not live near the border.
  3. You can only land a Mr. Bill if you have a total container malfunction... Oh NOoooooooooo!
  4. My favorite Mr. Bill story comes from Reggie the packer in Eloy. Reggie was at Lodi back then and had around 100 jumps. He really wanted to try base jumping. Someone told him a Mr. Bill was just like a base jump so off he went. Reggie pulled off the Mr. Bill but damn near went in before he got it out. When asked why he opened so low Reggie responded, "You said it was just like a base jump."
  5. In Canada the tax dept made a ruling a few years back that if a "contractor" earns all or the overwelming amount of his/her income from one source, they are an employee. They don't actively persue the employer on this until the "contractor" fails to pay their taxes. Then they go to the employer and say, "This person was an employee. You should have withheld their taxes. PAY! WITH INTEREST!" Workman's compensation boards do the same. One DZ closed after a coach suffered a brain injury and the WCB asked for several years worth of back premiums to be paid.
  6. I've attended five different colleges, and I think all of them required one or two phys-ed credits to graduate. It was up to the student to select which classes they took to satisfy that requirement. I got credit for previous military service, and took a scuba class. I have no problem with this state of affairs. It's no different than a graduation requirement for a speech, literature, or biology class, and so on. There are certain basic subjects that are considered necessary for a well-rounded education. Physical-Education should be one of them. Agreed. We called our science courses "breadth" requirements. Why shouldn't there be breadth requirements from the Phys-ed department.
  7. Interesting that 2 of the first 3 quotes are from the book of Jerimiah; one of the most vicious books in the old testament. You can give evidence for anything you want from that book.
  8. Well that is three. You fail, please procede to your nearest registration office to register as a democrat at your earliest convenienve.
  9. Depends what else I am doing with my hands. If I am in traffic and have to change gears a lot then not much more than once/minute; if I am just watching TV a bet more often.
  10. Agreed. He should not be skipping meals or periodic golf games. He needs them both
  11. So the difference must come from discretionary spending. The military is over 50% of discretionary spending. The cuts will make the Clinton cuts look like housekeeping.
  12. Yes he does look rough. He has lost weight (he says he is still within what he considers normal fluctuation) and has a lot of new grey hair. He is in his late forties so the onset of grey hair is not surprising, but no doubt the stress of the job is contributing.
  13. More importantly, which shipyards are you going to lay everyone off, How many Boeing plants and GM plants will be shut down. How many bases will close and how many soldiers will be mustered out.
  14. You may think that but TK is on record with a converse opinion.
  15. The Ontario government did an investigation and found retailers were bilking their customers out of millions in small lotto winnings.
  16. Actually TM summer work is a good example of where the US guest worker visa programm utterly fails. During the winter the good jobs (all the jobs) can be filled by Americans, but in the summer there seems to be a shortage every year.
  17. Sure, show where the church has claimed to not support capital punishment and I would agree. I don't actually follow the church and really don't know what they say on the topic. http://www.americancatholic.org/Messenger/Apr1999/feature1.asp#F6 -Pope John Paul II
  18. Would it then be intellectually consistent that, therefore, the Catholic church should also deny the sacrament to government officials who support the death penalty? Absolutely.
  19. condemning someone to the agony of the eternal hellfires is not punishment?
  20. NO S#*t! THERE I WAS! Thought I was gonna die.
  21. I just re-read the thread and must say I am confused. Just who do you think personally attacked you other than TK? JohnnyD was called your character into question based on a false impression; something he has already apologised for, who else?
