most accurate translations of the Tanakh and Koran?
Andrewwhyte replied to skittles_of_SDC's topic in Speakers Corner
While you are in the comparative religion mood you might want to have a look at the Bhagavad Gita. It is probably the most significant Hindu text and the one where Krishna reveals him to be the supreme being (Yahweh/Allah). -
I couldn't agree more Murray. Especially about the boys being tentative with the puck and being outworked. I noticed the tentativeness issue during previous games but it was being swamped by the talent differential. Time for the boys to pull up their socks.

They all starred Orsum Wells.

Gotta disagree with "unfriend." It's antonym is not "friend" but "befriend," which is a well established verb form of the noun.

I am sorry but that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of. The basic concept of a petition is that it is publicly adding your voice to an address to the authority. An anonymous petition makes no sense at all.

Can't seem to find your point there. What do you mean? Like they jump more or they're fat or wtf do you mean? Both.

The "best mouse trap ever" clamshell types seem to work best for me (although the little bugger who ate through my flour bag the other night is still on the loose).

Anyone who cannot cope with mathematics is not fully human. At best he is a tolerable subhuman who has learned to wear shoes, bathe, and not make messes in the house. ~Robert Heinlein, Time Enough for Love

Tandem Doomsday Scenario
Andrewwhyte replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have heard similar things for manufacturers in general but non existent corporations are no more accountable than dead people. -
Actually the USPA assuming the rating responsibility has not led to any lowering of the bar. Neither SE nor UPT have been willing to allow national organizations to to go below their qualification and training minimums. They still demand approval of each I/E. In fact when you look around the world the opposite is true; a factory rating can be obtained by jumpers not qualified to obtain one in many countries. The 1000 jump minimum is the most obvious case. When I took my SE course in Canada the TE Bill Morrissey gave a concurrent USPA course for the Americans who were there. There was nothing in the SE course that was not required for the USPA rating, but there were parts that I didn't bother to attend as I was not a USPA memeber.

Tandem Doomsday Scenario
Andrewwhyte replied to skydived19006's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
How so? Was that in the a contract between the manufacturer and buyer? Is there an oblication incurred through the TSO process? My bet is that they DO NOT have that obligation and can walk away at any time. Caveat Emptor. Certainly a bankrupt manufacturer has no obligations. -
Just because you're a labelist doesn't mean we all are.

Dutch to use full body scanners for US flights
Andrewwhyte replied to champu's topic in Speakers Corner
Perhaps we will soon see men's and women's security lines with all the male flight attendants changing careers to work the scanners. -
Of course not! You are an aghosteist.

Bullshit! The waiver is specifically for negligence. If there is no negligence there is no tort, waiver or not. The question here is whether there is criminal negligence. If there is not the waiver should protect all parties. This is important because criminality its responsibilities are not joint and several in nature and should only be visited upon the guilty. Sadly good people are forced to spend their life savings demonstrating that.

Especially base rigs. I expect there will be the usual dispensation for visiting jumpers. Is this law or does the skydiving federation actually have some power over base jumpers?

No country is ever right executing anyone. Given that and accepting that China has a well established death penalty the question of this man's mental health is up next. His family claims he was ill, but I have heard no other evidence that he was. Reacting poorly to a personal or financial crisis does not constitute a lack of criminal responsibility in most judicial systems. Far too often people from western countries demand their government prevent their citizens from being subject to local justice, but the governments only real obligation is in ensuring that they receive equal justice to the locals. I believe this fellow got that.

Took 23 seconds for Canada to score against the Swiss.

The truth is unless you are a junior hockey scout it is really hard to tell how we match up against the other powers until the match. The turnover from year to year is so dramatic even last year's result is of marginal significance; most of the eligible players from last year's team are in the NHL now and not released for the tourney. Had to feel bad for the Latvian goalie though.

I like this idea. Rather than a mandatory period of time perhaps a mandatory battery of documented coaching contacts as overseen by the senior staff. In Canada when you get a coach or instructor rating you are given a portfolio where you fill out the students name, date and skill coached/taught as well as the senior coach/instructors signature. You have one year to complete it and submit it back to CSPA or your rating lapses. You must have completed the coach 2 rating and the jumpmaster portfolios prior to taking the PFF course.

that should say; So in conclusion, I don't necessarily believe in a god But I cannot dismiss the possibility of there being one. How do you feel about the possibility of the Easter Bunny?
