Myself, being HIV+, no insurance company will cover me. Tell me, what choice do I have? Again, if you're able to work, group health plans have to cover you despite pre-existing conditions IF you change from one group policy to the new one (unless that's just an Arkansas phenomenon...I doubt it). Even though they don't have to cover you if you did not change from another group plan, most do. Prior to medical school I was a social worker. Had several clients who went back to work after being on disability for some time. Most people in this country cannot have insurance if you have heart problems. Isn't it fucked up in itself? Yeah....but I certainly wouldn't make someone who had an episode of syncope wait. He should've been moved toward the front of the line...before the people with non-emergent visits. Bad guys were lynched for years. If a girl's dad kills the jerk who raped her, I'm doubting that the rapist's family is gonna hunt him down. But he'd probably have to pay his own fiddler. A person can recover from a rape, although many people have a hard time with it. They cannot recover from being murdered. Yeah....if he's gonna rape the girl or kill her, I guess it's probably better to be raped if ya' gotta do one. But if he's a rapist, maybe being murdered isn't such a bad thing. If the conviction was due to a 16 year old having sex with a 14 year old, then I'd argue they DO get better. Most people do a lot of growing up after age 16. Yep. It's a screwed up legal system that would convict the 16 y/o in a case like that. Couldn't call a 16 y/o having consensual sex with a 14 y/o a dangerous kid. If a sex offender served his time in jail, then yeah, let him have a 2nd chance. Somehow I just don't think justice was done right in this case. Whether he served jail time or not really has no bearing on what kind of threat he poses now. Don't know why that would affect how people feel about him being in the neighborhood. When your heart rate is 160/minute, it's really difficult to tell whether it's regular or irregular. Afib's a very likely culprit. Either way, ya' REALLY shouldn't try to diagnose it over the skydiving forums, imho....just a hunch.... A visit to the good doctor is warranted here. In my opinion, it matters less that people running from the police sometimes get away than it does that the police use whatever is at their disposal to stop any citizen whom they choose to apprehend. It is NOT an alternative to deadly force. on the use of force continuum it is equal to oc spray Maybe so. But that's the line that was touted as the tasers were brought into use. It's how they calmed the masses when these weapons were added to the arsenal. THEN they used 'em differently once people were desensitized, with us believing that citizens would be safer with tasers in use. Wouldn't need to shoot so many people if they could just shock 'em into submission. They CONDITIONED people to accepting their commonplace use. If a person smokes, as long as he doesn't smoke where other people must breathe his smoke, then it's his business. People who smell like smoke stink. Racism is about race. Sexism is about gender. However, religion is about belief. Racism is about *beliefs* about race. Sexism is about *beliefs* about gender. Religion is about *beliefs* about god and the afterlife and spirituality...all that stuff. People believe that ALL their beliefs are truth....whether they be about race, gender, religion. In my opinion, beliefs about religion are no more important than the other two, and probably less so as far as human rights are concerned. There's always gonna be somebody who's upset, and they have the right to be upset. They DON'T have the right to dictate what other people must believe or how other people must live just because they are upset. Sometimes you just have to cope with things not being the way you want.
