Sure, split hairs. Don't see how that's splitting hairs. It's simply putting things in their right places. Creationism and Intelligent Design are not science, no matter how you contort it. They're religion. Religion should be taught in religion classrooms, not science classrooms. Health class. What should be taught in there, if not health? People whose parents don't teach very well still need to know that gonorrhea might make 'em infertile. AIDS might make 'em die, and syphilis might make 'em insane before they die. But they can protect themselves from all of these things. I teach teenagers about safe sex just about every day in clinic. And ya' know what? It's one area where parents do NOT have the right to know what their teenagers talked about with their doctors. Any teenager can go to his/her doctor and get the skinny on sex and the physician cannot tell their parents unless the child gives consent. Creationism and Intelligent Design (I'm not sure if they actually differ in any meaningful way) should not be taught in science classrooms. But, in my opinion, are fine being taught in religion classrooms. So teaching intelligent design is not so much the issue as long as its not considered science. Absolutely. If ya' want to teach it in some sort of religion class, that's great. Another family illustration. My brother and sister-in-law have been having trouble gettin' the egg and sperm to come together. They went the in vitro route, and a little over a month ago, their fertility specialist implanted two blastocysts in my sister-in-law's uterus. They saved, frozen, a few more fertilized eggs for future use if they so choose. Anyway, 2 were implanted. She's pregnant with one embryo per today's ultrasound. Do they...or *we*...or "all Liberals" owe an apology to the blastocyst that didn't survive???? Just curious, and trying to be on better moral footing. To whom should this apology be directed??? Today I took care of a patient whom my great grandfather (a physician) took care of many years ago. That was kinda cool. The ol' guy showed me a scar on his hand from a wound my great granddad took care of. I understand that he was kind of an old coot. It is, without doubt, amateur night at my house. The children have a kajillion and two different types of explosions at their fingertips. "keep 'em out of the pool" is their foremost instruction. Just a little tangent, because it came into my mind: It was 20 years ago on Christmas Day that Ronald Gene Simmons shot 14 members of his family at his house in Dover, AR.
