  1. Anyone who is in my house without my permission will be shot. They are an intruder and I consider them a danger to myself and my family. I know it may cause legal problems; but, I would rather be alive and worry about legal issues than have my family hurt and worry why I did nothing. 2. 9/11 I was at work at 75 Wall Street. Heard a load roar and a bang/crash. We went to the window and could see smoke from the Trade Center. I took the elevator up to a higher floor to get a better view. During this time the second plane hit. Basically watched until about 1:00PM. Walked all the way to Brooklyn. Regan, I came home from school to watch TV. It was the only thing on TV. It was the first time I watch or was even more than a little curious about any news event on TV. 3. You'll be right by my job. I work at 425 Lexington. 43 ad Lex. Too bad Sound Factory just got shut down. You could have got up early or stayed out all night and hit SF at around 7:00 am on sunday. What type of club are you looking to go to? If the weather is good, I will most likely be heading up to the Ranch to try to jump. PM me if you're interested. We should be albe to squeeze in one more. 5. The challenge for them to do a tandem is there. I've always admitted I was a little uncomfortble with heights. I guess from 25-1000 feet I am not comfortable. After that I'm ok. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  6. I had a tnedency not to breathe although not as bad as you describe. One thing that helped me was to breathe everytime I look at my altimeter. It was my coaches advice and it worked like a charm. Now I breathe normally and have no problems. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  7. So Sunday I went to help a friend work on his house. He says that we'll start on the roof to patch a section in preparation of the rain today. So going up the ladder, I am very slow. Get to the top and I want to walk on all fours. The roof is fairly steep, He described it as 12/6 I believe a 6 inch drop over 12 inches. The roof is not terribly high, 3 stories. I just was very uncomfortable. I did not hearthe end of it. I think I need to take them all for a tandem. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  8. Good luck with everything Jumpingfarmer. Hopefully you'll have good weather this year and the combine will make you lots of $$$. The only bad part is good weather makes it harder for a farmer to go jumping. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  9. The Ranch in NY. My home DZ and a great all around place. I am just finished AFF and working on my A. From day one everyone has been nice to me. I was up there two weeks ago and spent all my $$ on my canopy. A guy I only realy know to say hello and chat with a little offered me a jump ticket when he heard I spent all my money on a canopy. (I couldn't jump because I an not current and no instructor was around for the refresher class.) He told me it would be a shame to finally have my own rig and not be able to jump it. I will try a few DZ around NYC this summer; but, the Ranch will always be home. I just get a warm friendly feeling there. 10. Jump tickets are expensive by you. $16 to 14k for us. Roughly $880 including tax. I won't even discuss the rug Eva asked me to pick up while I was out. That was even more. Oh well, at least I had my priorities straight. I bought my canopy before I bought the things for the house. At least the weather was crappy here today. Hopefully it will be nice next weekend and I'll be flush with $$$ again. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  11. I'm going to take a nap, then go to the neighbors to eat and drink their beer. Then I'll go home and drink my beer. I'll download skydivingmovies files and cuddle up with Eva. Life is good. I just want to jump. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  12. So I just spent 55 jump tickets on a dish washer, Last week I bought my canopy and nex week I'm buying my altimeter. I have no $$$ to jump. I guesss I'll just wait 2 more weeks then I'll be all set. I need more money!!! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

  16. OOOPS!!!! Sorry Arlo. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  17. Just a quick note about Arlo. When I was brand new here, he gave me some advice and encouragement. He even answered a few PM's with questions. He gave me estimates on what was fair prices on some used gear. He never once made a sales pitch or pushed me to buy anything. He just helped a new guy. I've never me him; but, I would recommend him. 18. As a newbie, I think learning to be a solid belly flyer should be the first skill learned by anyone new. It seems to be the basis for all freefalling techniques. Also, you always need to ge fairly stable at some time or other. As far as getting people to jump with, just ask. You will be surprised how many people will say yes. In general, I think most people enjoy teaching a little if you keep it low stress and fun. Some day I'll learn some freefly stuff. This year is dedicated to belly flying and canopy control. It could all change later; but, I want a good set of basics to always fall back on. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  19. HUGGS to you. I had to do the same thing with my dog. It's terrible. You did the right thing. You would not want him to suffer. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  20. Safire 1. It was made in 2000 and has about 500 jumps on ti. Of course I bought beer. I was brought up with manners. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  21. I bought my canopy yesterday. It's a safire 189 with about 500 jumps on it. It is getting a brand new line set this week and it should be ready to jump soon!!! No more jumping the student rigs or rented gear. I have my own rig now!!!
  22. The long cold crappy winter here in NY is coming to an end. I'm off to the DZ tomorrow to say hello to some friends, work on getting current and drink a few beers. I've bought some beers, loaded up the car and I'm ready to go. I'm signed up for Scott Miller canopy control class in June and I'm checking out a canopy to buy tomorrow. Life is Good!! Start the fire early, make some coffee and keep an open slot for me. I'm jumping again!!
  23. Well, just drink a little more. It eases the hangover. Or, you could work on your next one. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
