  1. So I got stuck with "the god of wind and rain" Last summer during AFF, the weather at my DZ was pretty crappy at my DZ. I would arrive at 9:00 am on Saturday and leave on Sunday and sometimes not get to jump at all. Mainly due to wind and or rain. I came faithfully every weekend. Finally on a weekend when the weather was forcast to be bad, I left at noon on Saturday. By 1:00 the clouds had cleared and the first load was up. A few weeks later the same thing happened. Soon Mr wind and rain was born. When it happened a 3rd time, I was God of wind and rain. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  2. The free training sounds good. It's just the 35,000 hour commitment after that concerns me. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  3. If you are feeling burned out, take a break. It's not worth doing or safe to do it if you are not 100% into it. Take a month or so to recharge you batteries. Then go back and jump for a few weekends. See how you feel. Don't just quit, you might look back and regret it. Take your time and make the right choice for you. Your true friends will support you. All the best to you. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  4. I'm sorry. God bless and {{{{Vibes}}} B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  5. Thanks for all the replies guys. I appreciate it!! Thanks Flyer2Diver, I'll ask Robin next time I'm up at the Ranch. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  6. I'm looking for an invite too. If you need to send it to an e-mail address, use Brian4269@hotmail.com. Thanks, B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  7. Canuck, you are not discouraging me. You're helping me. What you wrote is your experience and seems very realistic. I would rather know now as opposed to finding myself having spent $5,000 and not having what I want. I may have to re-think what I want out of a pilots license. Or research what I want and see if I can attain that goal with the amount of time I can devote to it. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  8. Congrat abd good luck. You will love it. Don't forget to buy beer. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  9. Don't worry, you will heal. I just got my A license and broke my pinky playing Volleyball. Don't give up. It's just a setback. I had a tough time getting my A with the weather and now the hand. It was worth it. Don't give up, you'll miss out on too many good friends. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  10. So if I figured about $5,000 to get my basic private pilot license. Then another few thousand to get the hours needed for more advanced stuff. Roughly $10,000 to be up and flying. So all in the private pilot's license is about the same cost as getting my A and buying gear. HHHMMM, I think I'm going to have to awfully nice to the wife and hope for a big bonus. 11. WOW!!! How hard is it to get the commercial license? 25 hours seems ridiculously low!!! God I love the Ranch, we have good pilots. I would be a little nervous flying jumpers with only 25 hours. I guess I would find out who was truly my friend and who was just crazy. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  12. What qualifications would I need to fly a 182 or 205 for jumpers? I think this might be a fun way to get hours and still be at the DZ. (I know it is hard work to fly jumpers and I respect our jump pilots very much). The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  13. Well, last year I made the decision between learning to fly and learning to skydive. I am considering giving flying a try in the fall and winter. Could anyone give me a little advice? I know there are a few pilots out there. What would I be looking at in $$$$, and time? What is the best way to get experience? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  14. HEY!!!! That was supposed to be my New A holding packing secret!!! Who told you? I just found it easier and have had no problems with openings (yet). The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  15. I'm lucky to have good friends. We are having "the cripple weekend" We'll only do things that I can do one handed. So far the list is drinking, bowling, drinking, hitting the boardwalk, drinking, hitting the bars at the shore. It should be fun. I'll be back soon.
  16. I know I am lucky. Just pissed that it happened mid summer. It's just funny how my weekends have changed. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  17. So the hand is busted up. No skydiving, no motorcycle, no jetski. Hell, they would not even let me go horseback riding. So this Sunday, during a rainy day at the shore I found myself doing a puzzle. You know, a jig saw puzzle. What happened to my life??? I used to be a fun guy. I used to do exciting things with great people. I pray for my death. (just kidding) I can't wait. 7/27/04, the pins come out. Then another cast for 3 more weeks. And the vicodin is running out. I need to get up to the ranch, get drunk and try not to fall in my hand. I even thought about doing a tandem. God I am desperate. 19. Feel better. It will come. Don't give up, you're getting closer to being healed by the day. B The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

  22. A keg of good stuff. I have get my hand healed up so I can carry it to the DZ. I wonder would those lazy SOB's would help me unload it from my truck? The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  23. I finally have the card in my greedy little hand!!! I got A-45378. Not all I have o do is heal up ans jump my ass off.
  24. I went through the numbers, I need roughly 750k to 1,000,000 to cover mortages, loss of income and school expenses for future kids. I can get 1,000,000 for about $2k without skydiving. I just have to keep looking. I respect and love you military guys; but, I love my job. And I'm too old to join up. 25. So my life insurance renewal came this week. They raised me $3,800. So where can I look for new life insurance. USPA accidental death coverage deal just ended on 7/1/04. Any advice would be appreciated. I did a search and I did not find any current helpful stuff. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
