  1. I have a little bottle of Johnny Walker Black that I'm going to put in the reserve holder with a little thank you note. (No name) Always have to take care of the guy that packs the reserve. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  2. I'm in the process of buying my gear right now. I only have 14 jumps. I'm just graduated AFF and completing my A requirements. For me it was just a personal choice. I did not want to waste money renting and I was able to swing the $$ to buy used gear. I was also very fortunate that I jump at a large DZ (The Ranch
  3. Congrats and good luck. Follow you dream and you'll always end up where you want to be. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

  5. Unfortunately nobody would give me a gear check. I did the best I could alone. It's al learning experience. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  6. I'm not sure if this should be in incidents or not. My first time going to reserve today. I was a little worried, but all my training made it a natural. Here's the story. I'm at work. The market opens pretty quiet. The bran muffin and coffee is working it's magic. I grab the paper and head off the the mens room. Greenspan is ready to talk the market is getting a little busy. THE PRESSURE IS ON. I need to take care of business and get back quick. I hit the stall, put down the paper a$$ gasket and open the paper. Everything is going as planned. It's time to pull, I look and the roll is empty. I look at the newspaper, I look at the roll holder. I hit the reserve button. A brand new fresh roll drops down. Disaster is averted!!!! This is my first time going to the reserve roll. I told a collegue and said I'll buy beer. He looked at me a little strange and said as long as I'm buying, he does not care why. Remeber you training. Practice when you have free time. You never know when it will save you. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  7. I could do that. Not really. That was pretty sick. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

    excel help

So post the answer. The deans list is easy. Simple if statement. The hlookup will not work without using a series of if statments to get one of the 4 values you are using to look up the student's year. Easy answer is make row 24 from 0 through 128. Then use if statements to tell if the student is Freshamn, Soph, etc. The Hllookup in column G would be =HLOOKUP(E4,$B$24:$CM$25,2,FALSE) the dean list would be an if statement =IF(+D4/E4>3.199999,"Deans List","") There are much easier ways to do this using Access. But, I know this is school. Here is a quick easy way using a series of if statements to look up the students year. =IF($E4
  10. You made me sad I want to jump and it's too cold. And I'm not current and I have to work pretty steady for the next few weeks (no vacation). Great videos. They made me smile while I watched them The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

    Lasix?

I had laser eye surgery four years ago. It has been one of the best things I ever did. Research your doctor VERY carefully. If you get turned down because of pupil size, etc. Be VERY CAREFUL of any doctor that says that they can do it for you. I went to Dr Barry Soloway in NYC. He also did two of my friends. I would recommend him 100%. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  14. TOO DAMN COLD. Too cold for anything but beer and cuddling up with Eva. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.

  16. I am always scared until I leave the plane. Then the fear disappears. I can't explain it. I guess I realize that I can't get back into the plane.
  17. Too funny, I have to make sure none of you guys get old pictures of me. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  18. Stick with it. The exits will come. I have recently graduated AFF and my exits are still iffy. Some are great some are an adventure. It seems that you identified at least part of the problem on that particular exit. Exits seem to be hard for us newbies. The good thing is that you have learned that you can get stable. Take it step by step and learn from them. Be safe and have fun!! You'll do great. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  19. I could tell you the story of our Quest for Quisp. We drove from NYC to Chicago to the Indianapolis (saw the Indy 500) and back. We finally found it in a supermarket in Pa. We bought all that they had. 62 boxes for 8 guys to share. They thought were were nuts. And no we did not buy any milk. 21. Jimbo's 100% on track. Set small acheiveable goals. Use these small goals as a path to your larger long term goal. If you do not meet your goal, do not consider it a failure. Just examine why and readjust you timetable. Also WRITE it down. When things are in your mind, it's easier to cheat yourself and adjust the goals with less feelings of guilt. Don't give up. It's worth it. Good luck. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  22. Congratulations!!! I don't even know you and I'm proud of you. I bet that in the last 5 years your life and improved tremendously. It takes a strong person to do what you did. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  23. POLL QUESTION: "As an AFF Student, I feel comfortable/reasonably assured that if I get into trouble, my AFF JM will pull for me if necessary." The key phrase is "if I get in trouble". I trust my coaches 100%. It is not blind faith, it from how dedicated and caring they have been to me and other students. We have all heard stories about the student who went into a fetal position or who was completly unstable or not altitude aware on their first few jumps. Who ever heard of a student going to pull and putting the pilot chute through their leg strap. I was there the day it happened. Pete got it out and made the save. As a student I was not prepared for all the things that can happen on a jump. No student is. No one can teach you on the ground what it is like to step out of a plane. I know that I am responsible for pulling. I have ALWAYS pulled stable and at the correct altitude. I could not say that I had the ability to do that until after I made my first jump. Now I know I will do everything in my power to pull at the correct altitude. At my level I am not truly prepared for everything that can happen in a skydive. I feel that I have been well trained and I have good basic skills. I am not yet a good skydiver. In many ways it's like geting your drivers license. I am allowed to skydive; but, I am not yet a good skydiver. Just like a person who has been driving for 3 months is not yet a good driver. I stand by my statement. I think that my coaches would pull for me if I ever need it. I think that they will do everything in their power to save my if I completely screw up. They are a back up and I'm glad that they were kind enough to jump with me and teach me. Thanks to Linda, Pete, Nicky, Gabor and Baker. Happy New Year and Blue Skies! The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  24. The first time going out the door with my own rig, I was not sure how I would react. I had faith that Nicky would do whatever it took to get us both down safely. We were told that if we lost the coach for 5 seconds, pull. Personally if I felt that I was unsafe and I could not see my coach, I would pull. I just don't think a student can ever be 100% prepared for their first jump with their own rig. Your coach is your safety net and whould/will pull for you if you do not. Ask anyone from the Ranch, Pete pulled a pilot chute from out from a student's leg strap. Pete went the extra mile to insure his student was safe. I'l sure that all of the coaches at the Ranch would do that for a student. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
  25. Jimbo, I am certain that some students get away. I just trust that my instructor would do everything possible to get to me. The only time you should look down on someone is when you are offering them your hand.
