  1. Whilst questioning the validity of any conflict, in general, is a worthy enough question........ I think it stinks in this thread. This guy was doing his duty.......orders passed down from the leader of his country. He got injured in the line of duty ... Whether or not the conflict is 'valid' or not was not a decision he had to make. Where duty is served there is honour........and that deserves respect.
  2. Try here....as already suggested your skydiver could rig a reserve canopy as a main. The majority of reserves are white so you should be able to find what you are looking for... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/page.cgi?g=Reserve_Canopies%2Findex.html&d=1
  3. This incident highlights that even your reserve 'can' fail........and may be relevant for consideration in this particular thread. Granted there were a few circumstances that tilted the balance against the jumper.....but even so. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2171368
  4. What exactly do you need in those colors a canopy....? , a container ....? or both ......? just for clarification.

    Antenna hang-up

(The PC) Could you explain what you mean by that...?
  6. Was this a springloaded pilot chute / ripcord PC or was the system a throwaway PC.....??
  7. eeeek....well just dont start stalking me or I will have to call the police....... hang on...police....you..... Let me know when you are jumping again......lets go do something ! Matching rigs , jumpsuits and helmets........it'll look like a team...
  8. Firstly .....I forgive you for copying my colour scheme ... I found the same.....hip rings 'slightly' higher than you would expect.....I spoke with others who said the same....its the design of the container and just takes a bit to get used to.....on the positive side it 'aids' holding the holding the rig tighter to your body......therefore not so much movement of the container on your back during (particularly) freeflying. RSL looks like an RSL.....whats your concern here...? Chest strap looks fine.....just fold the excess and stow under a bungee....... As you explore canopy flight more....you will want to 'adjust' your chest strap after opening....helping to spread the risers and giving the canopy a more efficient flying shape.... Nice rig.....flying this weekend....?
  9. Or dates thereabout.....?? If so and you fancy earning some cash....I have a rig I need bringing back over to the UK.. Its a container and reserve.....no main... If you can help.....let me know. I'll get the rig to you whatever DZ you are at..... and I'll be sure to pay 'better than the going rate' for your assistance. Thanks in advance.....
  10. You didnt see anything.......right??
  11. Glad you guys at Skydive Radio enjoyed the movie and hope all of 'you that 'click the link' enjoy it as much......
  12. Thanks to Jarno and Costyn for my first two wingsuit jumps this past weekend....... And thanks to Phoenix Fly for a lovely suit that was delivered on time and fits/flys nicely..! I had a great time and alot of fun flyin the fabric......... Video to follow sometime soon.......
  13. The camcorder one works just fine..... New tape.....set your optimal position...(think about where the sun is going to be as well as where its coming from......aim for the middle ) Set tape to LP.......with a new tape and clean heads shoudlnt be an issue, and you will 90 instead of 60mins to play with
  14. What webcam do you have...? You usually get software to do exactly what you are describing bundled with webcams... If you didnt get software bundled.... http://www.kabsoftware.com/kabcam.htm
  15. Fair enough......... If I couldnt ID the affected line.....I wouldnt try..
  16. I'd always thought if it was stable and steerable and I had plenty of altitude I might cut the affected control line and land on rear riser/opposite toggle..... ( I already have several landings just on rears and a few in the above combination.....not all standup, but all landed without incident) Not something to be recommended for those of us with low numbers, including myself.....but if the conditions were as stated...me ,myself and I certainly would consider it over chopping. Cant be much price difference in a new set of control lines vs a repack ( with maybe a lost freebag and handles)
  17. Personal experience..... By far the most important thing to me has been the ability of the coach to make me understand what he wants me to do ....on the ground and in the air.... I rate that way higher than individual skills of the coach.... If they can actually 'coach' well and get the best outta you because you understand what they want you to do and why......thats the key. Have had experience of a few higher profile 'name' coaches whose coaching abilities did not match their excellent freefly ability and lots of 'lesser name' freeflyers who didnt have the same reputation as shit hot freeflyers but were good coaches......I'll take the latter anyday. example..? Pip Redvers at Zhills.........he's not exactly a big name in freeflying but he's a good freeflyer and a great coach......he listened/understood and got me ( and others ) to understand and progress far more than we expected to. There are some other higher profile names at Zhills for that type of coaching.....that didnt seem to match those results for the groups I was there with..... even though they are highly respected names in the sport for their freefly ability.
  18. Can you take some pics and post here...? Even if you have only got the camcorder....takes some footage pointing it into a mirror and get a couple of screen grabs to show us here
  19. I'm pretty sure thats not the case....the shell and L bracket are the same ....there is a small amount of 'padding' attached to the inside of the shell which is 'camera specific'.......changing this small amount of padding to a greater or lesser thickness to accomodate different camera models is as easy as taking off the old one and glueing in a suitable replacement.....pretty simple really. I have a FF2, Sony PC109 and Royal lenses......it all fits fine and no mods have had to be made to the helmet...... My helmet could easily accomodate a smaller or larger cam with a change of the padding on the inside of the camera box shell.....
  20. Hogging the door for whatever reason needs to be managed.....but no one should ever push any one out for non emergency reasons ...ever. If someone takes a long time in/before getting the door.....express it to them in a calm way and let them get on with it..... Deal with it......when its your turn in the door check YOUR spot and make YOUR decision......if its not safe to jump go around......if your DZ dont do go arounds....deal with it on the ground. In this circumstance make absolutely sure when you are down you speak to the person who caused the door delay and express it in no uncertain terms....you are now on the ground...so now you can get 'very' expressive...if you ar blanked go see your DZ operator/CCI/ Safety Officer ...express your concerns. Pushing out of the plane......? well personally if its done to me I will come across and speak with you on landing, if you didnt have a very good reason for doing it ...I can assure you that you wont do it again, I'm good like that.... Without a very good reason its an incredibly arrogant and rude gesture....that personally , I wont tolerate
  21. What aircraft are you using ...? Flying camera wings or no..? Top mount or side mount helmet...? This might be useful info to help others with their advice to you.
  22. My bad.....:( Thought he was talking about 'Cam' corders....not stills..... Phreezone is right on a 'Stills' cam.....autofocus wont 'refocus' until you hit the switch
  23. Never use DV tapes more than once........never Sometimes its cool no probs......other times....( and usually when you really need that footage you get shafted) I have used tapes once , then recorded footage over them ....even on the same brand of tape....sometimes its fine...other times.....its not.. ...roll the dice Not worth the risk if you value your prospective footage ! Keep on SP rather than LP....always Beyond that.......be sure the type of tape you are using is reputable and that your cam is working OK First I have heard of head cleaners screwing the heads......would like to read more from those who know....
