aahhh man I had to put on an extra sweater after watching that movie....that looked very cold and very uncomfortable....!
-
Yeah yeah yeah....dont rub it in.....you got me already....

Dave.... Try making sure there is no water /condensation in the lens to begin the day with ( wipe the inside) and the make sure there is no 'gap' inbetween the thread of the lens and the thread of the cam...ie screw it on tight ! Also in lieu of catcrap....get the SMALLEST little drop of washing up liquid and rub it onto the inside of the lens......keep rubbing it till its no longer 'streaky' and there you go...no more condensation! If you cant get it to not be streaky....you used too much washing up liquid..... you only need a tiny tiny tiny amount, not even a full drop I used this technique on Ice hockey visors that always 'fogged up' and have used it on lens's before...works for me.

Ian...I'm struggling to visualise what you are describing.....could you put it in a bit more detail? if you launch with your hand held high...doesnt that hand 'descend' with the rest of your body..? how is the canopy extracted? Sorry ...prob being stupid , I just cant see how it works.. Edited to add:.....err...got sucked in on that one...

yip.....thanks to all who made it happen, well organised and good fun....its given me some great memories ( and some scary ones too related to 'teabagging' , 'wufflenuts' and 'double goating' .. )

No way they were going on by brute force alone.....no way at all... I tried the soap idea.....just a tiny smidge on the top of the link and it works a treat.

OK....so I have a new canopy with the slider bumper silicone material ( quite stiff) above the rapide links on the lines..... I have tried getting them over the links with brute force , but the material is quite stiff and I'm really struggling to get it over the link's barrel........ I know there must be an easier way of doing this ..! Can anybody offer me enlightenment on this simple...yet frustrating issue?

pilot 150--do they always open so sloooowwww
Zoter replied to woodpecker's topic in Gear and Rigging
Interesting...I have a 168 Pilot and it opens in a snap !.....I'm confident pulling at 2500ft that I will have an open, controllable canopy by at the latest 2000ft . I dont roll the nose.....I simply grab all the nose cells and 'twist' my wrist 90degrees and close up the tail around the packjob No excessive rolling of the tail or funky slider mods..... opens on heading nearly every time as well... W/L about 1.45-1.5 -
'bout time......long overdue I think ! Nice one J'Man (and he was very rough with me..... ) Costyn....step up...you are next !

Jumping a camera - line/riser strike on deployment
Zoter replied to lintern's topic in Safety and Training
I think the general advice is not to turn your head on deployment....but to keep your head in line with the rest of your spine just in case you have hard, whiplash like opening......which position would you like your head to be in in this situation? think about it... Turning your head might also give you a less symmetrical body position on deployment, which in turn might affect how your canopy opens. When I first started flying cam ....I had quite a few riser 'strikes' on my FF2 helmet (side mounted camera box, like the cookie composites) with no ill effects other than a few scuffs on the camera box........now I dont have any riser strikes....cant say I do anything different ....other than just looking down at the ground until I know my risers are loaded. The risk however is real.....make sure your helmet is as 'snag free' as possible and has a cutaway system Very.....ask piisfish http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2179797 -

Its called an opinion.....unfortunatly thats something becoming harder and harder to express on this site Thanks for expressing your 'opinion'

(look at the posted date of the post you are replying to........hint: its before the new BPA canopy control certs were introduced)

I am curious as well.....anyone experienced care to answer...? I'm taking a guess at :- No indirect control Adjustment to the folds in the microreef (Obviously) not rolling/folding any nose cells at all. Leaving the pin protector flaps and riser covers 'open' Priming the pins..

I recognise the Base and Sit hanger as well .... I had the pleasure of jumping with them out in Zhills... Nice flying guys ...nice hybrid !

Hmmm.....I think there is something to be said here as well as having areas 'designated' as experinced and low experinced landing areas on the same landing area. Not because of students/low timers 'holding' up the pattern... To be honest ...from my experience its always been the opposite....hot dogs getting down quickly because they dont want to 'wait' in the pattern ahead of them....causing those with less experince to get a little twitched and start to do things on their pattern/final...that cause issues with those behind Had a couple of 'near'calls in that respect......and hand on heart can say they were not 'my fault'......but caused me to take action that on a normal pattern I would rather not have taken.... Irresepective of blame...the potential for damage is the same..

Can someone explain why seeing convergence clouds is an obvious sign of the Ora wind..? My Met. knowledge is a little stretched beyond .."there is a little mist over the landing area..." I jest ... but seriously.....would like to know...
