Although we have similar rules for cloud jumping in the UK...you will hard pressed to find any UK jumper who doesnt jump in clouds ...if they jump in the UK .... They ARE fluffy and moist to jump though and if they are the big puffy white ones they slow down your fall rate dramatically....

Would anyone like to share their techniques..? for a good sub term track ( for object separation) in the 4- 7 sec delay range. Exit technique inparticular.. As it makes a difference please make a note if you are using tacking pants/smoke pants etc. Cheers...

Care to elaborate on that...?

Dont you risk and entanglement with the PC bridle using this method. I'm assuming you leave with a tail wind and as you jump forward ...dont you risk your right hand/arm going 'over the top' of the bridal thats slightly ahead of you..? I mean it obviously works....but is the risk of entanglment here increased..?

I managed to get my lowest average fall rate in my Phantom this weekend ,56mph.....quite an accomplishment for me being a fat knacker and all....I was happy with it

I've really started to enjoy lower stuff......alot more than high stuff !....but with my size canopy I am very concerned about any 'extra' delay during canopy extraction /deployment that may occur on lower jumps. As well as the handheld PC 'packing' method.....what are peoples thoughts on using big PC's vs smaller PC's (say 46 or 42)...ie overall snatch force vs speed to inflation of PC on lower objects. I have heard arguments supporting both choices...

I have one of these and have been playing around with it a bit recently....on my PC109 The spot is good....excellent illumination TBH and doesnt drain the battery too much...the dimmer control is useful too. The IR source..? Its a 'little' dissapointing , but then again it depends what you want to use it for.... On max intensity the projected beam of IR is quite narrow.....gives you a a kind of 'box' of light ...within the frame of your video...that doesnt go across the full width /height of video. Projected useful range in my opinion is well short of 20M.... Its better than the inbuilt IR source on the sony range....and good for illumination of people/things quite close to you...but it certainly doesnt fully illuminate your immediate enviroment if thats what you needed It also stands up off the hot shoe....so if you had plan to 'wear' it on your camera helmet ...for 'whatever' reason...you will need a top mount or non enclosed side mount...and it does present an extra 'snag' hazard in such a situation ( but would easily snap off I reckon with significant force)

I took it as a 'given' that someone with a dash of experience BASE jumping is aware that pulling at a sensible height is preferential to the distance they 'aspire' to track.... Seems like my mistake to make that assumption...

Gee ....thanks for that nugget, I'm guessing you dont know Gus is quite an experienced jumper..

But he looked like he was practicing a neutral or forward movement position....? not backwards movement or backsliding..? And wasnt he directly in front of the exit...rather than the wall...?

There was one lad on there ( who broke his ribs and couldnt jump ?) who looked like a genuine turnaround......he was showing good attitude to discipline , his mates and making plans for 'after'....... If it works then great.....only issue I have is that at the end of the day they all know that a 'beasting' is only going to go so far and there wont be any real physical assault by their NCO's no mattter how loud they are screaming abuse in their face ! ......so they know they can push it waaaay beyond what any recruit would dare have done back in the day. Not saying that physical assualt is the answer at all...just that its the way alot of discipline is enforced in the military.....right? This kinda thing only works if the individual wants it to work.......it seemed a few of them were more focused on getting a single static line jump , than changing their lives. But if it worked for some of them......bully for them ! 'ten......SHAN ' !

shite.... I bough ( rather too quickly it seems ) a new Cookie Composites Liquid Flat Lock plate for my shiny new EOS 350D. Its a beautiful piece of kit....very low profile but the mounting points are just 'too far apart' to secure it to the flattop of my 2K composites FF2. Sooooo...I need something else What do you other FF2 users have for your stills plate...? Anyone want a brand new Liquid Flat Lock? I'll give you a keen price..?? (cant send it back as I have disposed of original packaging.... )

DSE ...how do you achieve that smooth slo mo technique of yours in Prem Pro.....I cant see options for changing field dominance in the Field options...

I'm about to mount a camera (stills) mount to the flat top of my FF2 cam helmet Any one care to share some 'practical tips' for drilling the mount holes through this carbon fibre helmet...(I am using a Cookie composites flatlok plate) ie how to stop the carbon fibre weave splitting when drilling and should I postion the mount at the frot/middle/ or back of the flat top... any and all comments appreciated...

My original post was not intended to 'slam' anyone....the last statement in it sums it up ie it is a good example of how not to 'manage' a two out situation ( ie turn a stable situation into one that requires dangerous manouvres so close to the ground) He did what he he thought he had to do and I respct that decison......would he have done anything differently if the situation could magically repeat itself....I'd bet he would say yes !

I'm afraid we only met over that weekend....not seen him since . Nice guy ....he had some nice cam flying tips to share .
