I have had the same thing happen with a '2005' model of a Wings container... There is however an elastic that holds the top flap (reserve) to the other flaps..... So in a nutshell you get the tuck tab coming loose occasionally when sitflying.... Is this really a concern?........I'm not sure Why would this last tuck tab occasionally coming loose be a safety issue? Maybe if the pressure inside the last flap 'scoop' (secured by the elastic) puts enough pressure on the system to pull the reserve pin......(unlikely I think)....but I cant see much 'danger' beyond that... Enlighten me if you have an opinion.... At this point it happens so occasionally...... that its not even a concern for me The bungee on the tab trick is a fix ......just use something that really doesnt make it 'difficult' for the last flap to come loose........

I think you could look at it another way as well.... I reckon if you have the attitude of .....'make me good' then you are going to take a looong time to get good..... Its more up to you to practice ,practice ,practice.....set goals and then USE coaches to help you achieve those goals....no matter how small they may be. Good coaching will get you progressed quicker for sure.......using a coach but using them alongside a planned path of development will get you there even quicker. IMHO

How did you rig a cmaera to your lines.....?? Nice shot...

Part 1 of the 'above' movie has also just been uploaded More HD coached jumps that some fellow 'vertical flight fledglings' may find bits and pieces useful to watch http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3125

DaveO has been kind enough to visually explain to me how deep brake settings are important on jumps such as these..... edited....jumps where there is a higher chance of object strike on an off heading opening....eg cliff jump What are the disadvantages to setting your brakes deeper on these type of jumps.......ie why wouldnt you ?? Thanks edit for thread title ~TA

"I went up to the front counter and talked to a young lady. She was extremely nice and apologized for the packer and would address it with the owner. Got my money back and went home." "Don't go to Target Sky Sports. You can ask Billy about the experience we had there" "I could probably skydive downtown Baghdad and get more respect" I have addressed the points of your post in order, quoting directly from your friends posts......there seems to be a little conflict in what you both are saying.... I think its fair to say from this thread its clear that actually your friend had issues with A PACKER and not the DZ as a whole..... As this is an Internationally viewed forumI think its right we make sure we clarify what exactly was the 'beef'..... ONE packer.....not the DZ...

The incident has been discussed and debated in depth in this thread..... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1439200 In a nutshell one of the main suspension lines snagged on one of the main tray flaps.... He cut away and because the main was still snagged (attached via the snagged suspension line)experienced significant problems when deploying his reserve.......This was the result of a design fault in this particular system ( I believe) He survived with fracture injuries as far as I remember The thread has much more in depth info on the malfunction

Mistreatment of skydivers by EMTs
Zoter replied to KillerKimmy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you receive ANY less care as a skydiver who broke his leg after a hard landing in the Emergency room (or beyond) as compared to an old dear who tripped over her cat and received a similar injury....you MUST complain through your countries/governments medical governance structure. ALL Medical professionals are taught both professionally and ethically to triage and treat THE injury BEFORE they have ANYTHING to do with the moral reasons as to the cause of the injury. Anybody who deviates from this very simple practice in any medical community I am aware of in the civilised world risks disciplinary action. The EMT's have a responsibility to themselves to assess the environment and ensure it poses no risk to themselves prior to assessment/treatment of the patient..........if this is in anyway abused , again.....it should NOT be accepted That said on two field emergencies I have seen on both occasions the surrounding community (or injured party) have 'questioned'or debated the EMT /Paramedics decison to cut off the harness or associated equipment.............this should never , ever happen........respect their professionalism and let them do what THEY think needs to be done , unless you happen to be an awful lot more qualified and responsible for the person in question than they are. They may know squat about skydiving or its equipment but they DO know what they need to get done to assess, stabilise and treat that patient That will save a few more of those precious 'seconds'......when seconds count.... Just my humble opinion.. -
I dunno who exactly was the packer in this instance .......but it does seem like the beef was with the packer here. For whatever reason ....if what you were saying is true then he /she was being an arse......and I hope when you got your money back you explained 'why' you felt hard done to.....that the packer in question got their ass beaten... It all does sound a little weird though the way the packer treated you....and I have to say that its something I NEVER heard of whenI was at Target Skysports..... Student /Hire /Tandem rigs always got the priority of the packers ....always. Bad day.....1 packer in a bad mood.......not quite sure the whole 'DZ' deserves your slating everytime its name is mentioned on these forums.....

As the designated videographer on this dive I took my time to ensure that the video recorded was done in an artistic and tasteful manner reflective of the purity and serenity of the occasion......... ....... ....... ....... I have the video.......highest bidder gets to view...

Great suggestion but not really a 'practical' one for getting yourself established at a local DZ. You have to take a chance on the weather ahead of time to get your 'cheap' flight.......rather than look out of the window in the morning and go back to bed because its cloudy.... I have read before about the other two guys experience at Targett Skysports and then as now.....its like ....are you sure ?? that DZ has one of the best reputations in the UK for customer service, progressive attitude and getting you in the sky.. Maybe it was a bad day for you but its certainly not indicative of the service that they give to just about everyone else. Why did they treat you like that .....were you asking for stuff they dont usually do or being too demanding or something ?? (just a thought....no insult intended) and what did the front office say when you asked for your money back..? I find it very hard to believe at that point they wouldnt have addressed your problems straight away if you were not satisfied.....its just not like them.

Thats a nice video......

When its been Staff Packed.....yes I have had a few 'brisk' openings that spun a little. When I have packed it pretty much on heading and soft openings.... In the pro pack...when its time to cacoon the packjob I grab all the seam tapes for the nose 'twist my wrist ' inwards to just turn the nose inlets inwards and then let it hang...and close up the packjob.... I have experimented with other variations in packing the nose.....this one gives me the most consistant results

I see...... I always avoided a single line of cord as opposed to doubling it up ( as in my pic) so that there was only one knot under tension.....not two ( one on each loop)
-
yeah I did it myself......I was used to loops on my previous rig ( which were sewn to the inside of the legstrap) so just routed it through these.... I'll route it thru the tunnel..... But it still seems a bit wrong to me....the bungee will 'pull' on the outside edges of the 'tunnel' which will still distort the legstraps in position a bit and will still be tight across my fat ass....with the right length cord..... If you use a longer cord.....then why bother with the cord at all....? the legstraps have too much range of movement then If the loops are not used.....why are they there? Anbody know...?
-
Even through the tunnel....isnt the 'stress point' the outside edge of the tunnel.....effectively creating the same prob as routing though the loops on the outside of the legstrap....??
-
The loop on my Wings legstrap bungee is on the outside of the legstrap rather than the inside. With the bungee attached it 'pulls' from the outsides of the legstraps which distorts them a little and also means the bungee is really tight across the backside. I may be being a bit dim but is there a solution to this ? .....other than lengthning the bungee ( it needs to be WAY long to have any slack in it....which kinda negates the reason its there doesnt it?) Or Just get loops sewn on the inside of the legstraps Pics attached....

MY only concious memory of my first 2 jumps was how the air felt around me......and the fact that I was just being supported in this rushing air.... All work was done on autopilot and I dont remember much more about the jumps than that... Thats the magic of the first few jumps......the feelings of absolute terror and absolute relief separated by
