  2. For my tandem #1 I look at bigyellow.com and found Skydive Space Center to be the closest to my home. Thank god I didn't end up driving from Orlando to Cedertown because it was really the "Closest". Mark Klingelhoefer
  3. Hi, Why doesn't UPT tack the inserts to the riser any more? /D We do tack them. See attached pictures
  4. We (UPT) include them with every rig and Riser order at no extra charge. Mark Klingelhoefer
  5. I think they will expect manifest (who has no stake in this at all) to police it. When is the last time a pilot asked you to see your reserve card to show it being in date? These duries are normally handled at manifest. Mark Klingelhoefer
  6. Does "I was falling towards the earth at between 120 and 200 miles per hour" constitute an emergency situation for the FAA, if so, disconnecting the RSL would be alright for all jumps. Mark Klingelhoefer
  7. How do you know your limits if you never test them? There is a difference between pushing the limits and getting in way over your head. It's like saying "I bench press 150lbs, and I think I'm going to try 155." is different than saying " I bench 150 lbs, I'll try 350 this time." One is a growing/learning experience, the other is just plain crazy. Mark Klingelhoefer
  8. I've never had so much fun at a boogie that I didn't even make a single jump at. I forgot how much more fun boogies can be when you are not "on the clock." Thanks for the great time. Denis, YOU ROCK!!! Mark Klingelhoefer BTW, just watching the naked guy getting nailed by those paintballs stung. I can't imagine how it felt on the recieving end.
  9. Someone once said to me.... and I live by this and tell it to all new jumpers wondering if it is too windy for them to jump. Mark Klingelhoefer
  10. With the paratelemetry device, when you use it, the risers are not attached to the container, so your magnetic risers covers could be a mile away from the main you are looking for. Short answer, No it has no effect. Mark Klingelhoefer
  11. I've just sent you an E-mail. Please let me know if you do not recieve it. Mark Klingelhoefer markk@uptvector.com
  12. Cool. I guess I misunderstood the clarification. Nice to have it cleared up for dummies like me.
  13. I just spoke with Bill Booth about this quote and he confirmed that the Argus AAD fits in our Harness Container System. This is as far as we will go in stating that it is compatable with our system. Mark Klingelhoefer United Parachute Technologies From the Relative Workshop website: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 06.23.06 Argus Clarification On April 12th, Carl Goortz visited Relative Workshop with several Argus AAD mock-ups, a unit was measured, and it was determined that it physically fit in our Vector, Micron, and Sigma rigs. At this point, a Relative Workshop engineer gave Mr. Goorts a letter stating that the Argus was compatible with our rigs. This simply meant that the Argus unit fits in our rigs. We apologize for the use of the word "compatible", because it could be taken to mean that we certify that the Argus actually works in our rigs. Because no working model has yet been made available to us, we have done no performance testing. Therefore, we can make no statement as to how well the Argus will actually perform in our equipment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  15. What are you doing to the dog in this picture? Lonely nights? Mark Edited because I can't spell to save my life.
  16. This sounds like a major problem for the riggers that are "Offically observing" all the packers on the packing floor, who are packing direcly under their ticket. So even if you know not to pack this, is Mr or Ms. I pack for $5 a head and don't have anything to offically loose going to know not to pack these rigs? if not there could be a lot of riggers loosing their tickets. Just my 2 cents, Mark Klingelhoefer
  17. They have a bunk house you can stay at if you are jumping. It used to be free, not sure if it still is. Mark Klingelhoefer
  18. The Skyhook is included with all New UPT Student rigs and Sigmas already. Mark Klingelhoefer
  19. Lake Wales is another DZ in that area to consider. I personally did my AFF at Space Center about 8 years ago, but it's a different place (atmosphere wise) now and this is not a good or bad thing, just a fact. Deland has great instructors also. I don't know much about Seb, Lake Wales, or Z-hills student program. Also consider proximity to where you live. This will probably become your home DZ after you finish AFF and while a 30 minute longer drive might not mean that much for your first tandem, it adds up when you are making the drive every Saturday and Sunday for the rest of your life..... Mark Klingelhoefer edited cause I can't spell
  20. OK guys, I apperciate the advise. I'm putting together a rig, but just to let everyone know, I work for United Parachute Technologies (Vector) and also get a REALLY GREAT deal directly from PD, so I am not looking to buy used gear. My inbox has been flooded with "I've got the perfect 126 for you" E-mails, and rather than replying to each one individually, I'll say it here, I'm not looking for used gear. I appreciate the offers, but don't need them. Thanks, Mark Klingelhoefer edited to clarify how good of a deal. Really, I don't need a used canopy
  21. Buy them and sell them for $1.00 each for a 1000% markup and a pretty good deal for each person who paid a buck for a funny joke. Mark Klngelhoefer
  22. Looks like it is probably going to be a 126, I'll talk to Jimbo and Dave H before I buy though. Thanks for the input. Mark Klingelhoefer
  23. I'm thinking about (probably will order very soon) putting together a CReW rig and I was wondering what wing loading I need to shoot for so I can order my Lightning. I realize I caould probaly do a search and find this info, but I'm lazy and don't feel like it. I just want to start getting in the formations, rather than flying a Stilletto behind the formations. Thanks, Mark Klingelhoefer
