Great thread. The way I had it explained to me after my 100th and getting pied (Which I think is a VERY important ritual in skydiving) was that up to 100 jumps, you are kind of a tourist. People think that you may not hang around so "investing" into your development is a little bit of a "risk" with the possiblity of no return on investment (You could quit the sport tomorrow and never jump again, then the coaching was kind of a waste) but the ritual of the pie is kind of like saying you are no longer a tourist. You've been committed enough to do a whole 100 skydives (whether it took you 2 months or 5 years) and that deserves to be celebrated. I welcomed my pie in the face because I finally felt I was one of them. Mark Klingelhoefer

Jimmy, Thaks very much for the reply. I hear there was recently or is soon going to be a major price drop on it and I think I'm going to pick one up. Now I just need to sell my V3 container and reserve to pay for it. Mark Klingelhoefer

Specially when I think this is the last Bus Stop on his route. I have not counted them out, but with this black and gold blood, I have this feeling.......(waving a terrible towel)........ Mark Klingelhoefer

When I need one I appreciate it very much, but they are very well paid. $6 for 7 minutes work roughly translates to $51 per hour tax free.... I think they should be appreciated, but should appreciate their jobs also. I've done it and it is hard work, but you are paid well for it. Mark Klingelhoefer

Do you tell your employer that you do skydiving?
klingeme replied to bastichu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I told them right in the interview process. They didn't seem shocked. As a matter of fact, I think it helped me get my job. Then again, I work for Relative Workshop....... Mark Klingelhoefer -
Why haven't you gotten your B license?
klingeme replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I went from a to c to d and skipped b because I was doing a lot of jumps at the time. Mark Klingelhoefer -

over priced skydiving helmet - e.g. bonehead and etc.
klingeme replied to dropzone_moron's topic in Gear and Rigging
These helmets are made to be VERY lightweight and to protect you if you should trip on landing (5-10 MPH) and hit a curb or street on an off landing, or someone's knee hitting your head in freefall (again 5-10 mph relatively. Ski helmets are designed to protect you from hitting a tree at 45 MPH and the weight is a lot less of an issue. I beleive the cost is a combinatino of size of the market (the manufacturers have to make a living) and the materials used. Mark Klingelhoefer edited for Duh!?! -

Dave and Cypres, I mean Stump, you guys rock and your are providing a GREAT service to skydivers as well as Industry folks. I've spoken with Bill (Booth) about his interview and he enjoyed doing it and was impressed with you guys. I'm sure all your other interviewees think the same thing. You provied a GREAT way for them to spread the word about their product/service and the whole skydiving world is either benefiting by listening or just plain missing out by not. YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! Thanks for your time and effort, Mark Klingelhoefer
