  1. Chris, SSC is my home DZ as well. I'll see you there. Hopefully we'll have a big crowd because of the $15 to 15,000 ft. first weekend of every month. See you there and look forward to celebrating you passing your level 1 through however many with you. Mark Klingelhoefer Mark Klingelhoefer
  2. I'm going through the same thing. The 24th of May for me. I'm trying to find a way to survive without the corporate world for a while, but it's had to find something "in the industry" that has benefits, and I need those. So if anyone skydiving related companies in the sate of Florida have any openings with health benefits, let me know. Mark Klingelhoefer fleefry@cfl.rr.com Mark Klingelhoefer
  3. Sonic Foundry makes a great product to throw together a quick video (After capture, 5 minutes with basic transitions between jumps and music from MP3 files). It does not have all the capabilities of Premier, but it is VERY easy to use. Mark Klingelhoefer Mark Klingelhoefer
  4. I've jumped a Vector 3 for about the last 300 jumps and have never had anything come open when freeflying, but I think Mirage, Vector, Javelin, etc. are all safe for freeflying, I thik it is more of a comfort thing. Try on the different rigs and see which one fits you best. People's bodies are made differently, and I've had people try on my Vector and say it is very uncomfortable, but this is not the case for my body type. Just ask the people around the DZ if you can spend 10 minutes sitting on the floor in their rig (simulating a ride to altitude) and you should have an idea about the comfort of the rig. 5. While I understand you are entitled to you opinion, I have to strongly disagree with you here. I'm not a big fan of setting jump limits for things like jumping a camera, but you should at least know how to "fly" and not just "Fall" before jumping one, and at 15 jumps, you have WAY too much to learn. My contention on when you should think about jumping a camera is when you can fly the position you plan on filming in without even thinking about what your body needs to do. It should be instinctual. If you will be filming on you belly, fall rate changes, horizontal control, and whatever else belly fliers do, should be second nature. If you're a freeflier, be great flying the position you will be filming in (HD, Sit, Stand, Knees...) when you are jumping the camera, things can happen VERY FAST, and you get fixed on the subject and if you have to think "they are falling slower than I am so I should spread my daffy out more or put my arms out more" you have just taken you concentration away from your subjects and that's when things can go BAD. When you add more things to think about to a jump (a tube, a Video camera, Stills, a board, hula hoops, etc...) you add to the opportunity for something "out of the ordinary" to happen. If you are good at flying your position, you might get that great shot of someone gong through an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives. If you are not you could end up hurting yourself, others, or even worse. (I will not step down from my soapbox) Please be careful out there, Mark Klingelhoefer
  6. Below is the reply to a message I sent to L&B stating that I had just purchased a used ProTrack and did not receive the manual or the "Road Map" from the person I had bought it from. I asked if the road map was available to download online this was the response. I have heard several good things about L&B but to have it happen to you is reassuring. I realize this is a small thing they are doing for me, but in my book, they are going the extra mile to keep their customers happy. With recent news about how some manufacturers are making the customer pay the bill for things, it's nice to see that L&B knows that keeping happy customers happy is a key to repeat business. Thanks again, L&B, Mark Klingelhoefer Hello Mark, Please give me your mailing address and we shall send the road map. It cannot be downloaded. Do you know if you have the new or old model Pro-Track? The new model can be switched off. If you are not sure we will send road maps for both models. We shall also send the manuals. 7. If you are looking for specific answers, I jump a PC5 Side mounted on a Hawkeye. Mark Klingelhoefer
  8. I'm looking into getting my company to "sponsor" me by buying me a "company rig" with the company logo on it, and I contacted PD about buying a new Stiletto 120 and what it would cost to get the logo put on the canopy and was expecting a $200-$300 estimate, however they said it would cost around $950. I was wondering if the manufacturer is the only one who can do this modification to a main, or if a Master Rigger might be able to do it. Anyone with any "logo"ing a main experience? I just want to know if this can be done Post manufacturing. Thanks, Mark
  9. I jump a Hawkeye (Which I think is a fantastic helmet duel inclosed audible mounts and all) man have a pc5 side mounted with an "L" bracket. You can see it at http://www.geocities.com/klingeme/MeHeadDown.htm Mark Klingelhoefer
  10. This topic come up pretty often in both this board and on rec.skydiving, and I think it would be a great idea for someone who has the time (which excludes me) to put a compilation of all the various posts up on a web page we can refer to each time it comes up. Anyone else think this is a good idea? FleeFrier Mark Klingelhoefer
  11. Flying a cmera is definantly not cheap. Remember, you have to be ready to cut the thing away without hesitation if things get REALLY BAD. The mount that I use on my Hawkeye is just a piece of aluminum that is bent to fit the camera on the bottom with an extra piece bent on the top to go into the flash mount. Drill a few holes in the side for the screw mounts and one in the bottom for the tripod mount, and you are ready to go. If you are going to be freeflying witht he camera, I don't think a site is very important. After a few jumps with it, you will get used to looking with your head rather than your eyes and the videos will get much better. If you want to see the mount, go to http://www.geocities.com/klingeme/images/HeadDown02.jpg and you will see it in use. Let me know if you have any more questions, I can be reached at fleefry@cfl.rr.com. Mark Klingelhoefer
  12. I jump at Skydive Space Center in Titusville. Mark Klingelhoefer
  13. I am having the same problem with getting my D. My DZ had night jumps scheduled for this past weekend, but they were postponed for one day and then canceled.
