  2. So, if someone says, "Spence is a big dick", that's not the same, right? Would this be a Greenie with a personal attack? J/K
  3. Do what I did and find a Bar where you can watch them for free.
  4. The same thing that happened when Penn left as champ, they just have a fight with the 2nd and 3rd best guys to determine the "new" champ. Mark Klingelhoefer
  5. True, but again it's ambiguous and open to interperetation. Just because you don't NEED a rigger doesn't necessarily mean a task isn't overed as a "duty under his certificate". Packing your own main... no, doesn't require a rigger ticket, but since packing another's main does and the skills are equal, it could be argued to be "duties under his certificate". Same thoughts for gear checks... anyone can do a "gear check", but a rigger could perform the same task and call it an "inspection", putting it under the umbrella of his duties. Rubber bands, loops... well, that's stretching. But then again, since non-riggers aren't allows to pack another's main, it would seem that non-riggers wouldn't be allowed to replace another's closing loop, so maybe that counts too. Helping/teaching... again, if a non-rigger can't pack another's main, why would they be allowed to help/supervise/teach? How about being on the dropzone in the presence of a non-rigger packer. You're "supervising" (doesn't have to be direct supervision, you just have to be readily available after all). Is it rationalizing? To a point I agree it is, although I'd rather call it "applying a liberal interperetation of the regulations" as a CYA statement. But if we were to accept the very conservative intereperetation that you are implying, then VERY few riggers would meet that. It'd prettymuch be loft/manufacturer employees and full-time packers. Sounds like you get the purpose of my post. Helping Rationalize what could be considered "rigging work".
  6. Let's assume you pack your reserve only every 120 days: If you use the liberal counting method initially proposed by tdog you would not have done any rigging in the previous 90 days. (This method is NOT consistent with the regulations) If you use the conservative counting method (consistent with the regulation) you would have three days of rigging in the previous 12 months. So as I read it: If your rigging was limited to your own rig every 120 days, by neither method of counting would you be current as defined by the reg above. Not really, If you jump and repack yout main you are doing "rigging work", Change your closing loop, Rigging work, change the rubber bands on your main bag, rigging work, do a gear check for someone at the dropzone, rigging work.
  7. I was a much better flyer 5 years ago when I was doing 300+ jumps a year than I currently am. Mark Klingelhoefer
  8. UPT does not recomend packing an Optimum 126 in a 303 or 304. Mark Klingelhoefer United Parachute Technologies
  9. Not counting my student progression and "rental rigs" Spectre 135 - Jumps 50-350 Stiletto 120 - Jumps 351-1100 Katana 107 - 1101 to present Containers - 2 separate Vector 3's
  10. I understand the red lines, but if I have contrasting "Target Panels" is that good enough? I was going to get a completly Silver canopy with Orange (TGR) ribs and target panels. Mark Klingelhoefer
  11. The M series containers have a little more room in the reserve container so you can go up 2 sizes in some of them, but when we disigned the Microns, the reserve container was a little snugger, so generally, you can only go down 1 size in them. I will look into updating the rig sizing chart with the Optimums. Mark Klingelhoefer
  12. J, This sounds like a conspiracy for one company to sabatage another companies demonstration of their product and we all know that that would never happen....... I guess that makes two of us. Mark
  13. Doc has an electric 8 way setup that I'm sure he will be bringing. So even if Spence doesn't, we've got you covered. 14. We (UPT) will not be able to answer the question until we get them in house and pack them up in the different size rigs to determine what it will fit. That is what we have done with all the sizes PD has released currently. Mark Klingelhoefer
  15. You forgot the link to the aforementioned video for those of us who may have been living under a rock for the past little while. I shot the video, but will not be posting it. I'll tell you what I saw. A perfect main opening, flew to the cutaway area, signaled to me he would be cutting away, and I OK'd the cutaway. He cutaway the first main and the reserve (2nd main) deploys. I see a reserve almost fully inflated (great deployment) but as the last cell was pressurizing, the reserve (2nd main) cuts away. Then, a couple seconds later, the tersh is deployed. We get to the ground and he says he did not cut away the 2nd main (first reserve) but the handles are all pulled. It was definantly my most exciting (it freaked me out) SkyHook video I shot that summer and I shot a lot of them. Mark Klingelhoefer United Parachute Technologies
  16. Nice try guys, but I think only "in air" cutaways count for this deal. Mark Klingelhoefer
  17. United Parachute Technologies is looking for Skyhook testimonials. Please send us an account of your Skyhook cutaway story, and we will send you a free t-shirt!! Please send to rosi@uptvector.com before 1 November 2007 in order to be eligible. Please be sure to include your name, shipping address and t-shirt size.
  18. If it is your personal gear, you have a good idea when the rig was last packed, but when I went through AFF I was told that checking the reserve data card on any rental gear (student gear included) should be part of my inspection before the first jump of the day. There is no need to check it before every jump, because if it was in date before your first jump of the day, it is still in date for your 10th jump that same day. The cards themselves are very durable, but if you are not sure if a rig is in date, you should check to make sure you are "legal". Mark Klingelhoefer
  19. sorry I missed that one....Shatner.....
  20. I can not believe people watch this "Game show". Pick a number between 1 and 100...now pick another one....one more?.......wanna pick another one?......Just 96 more to go...... 100 bottles of beer on the wall....... I just find this to be the most mind numbing show ever...... Mark Klingelhoefer
  21. I just got off the phone with Rusty. Thanks for the suggestions. Just to let you know he backed your suggestions 100%. Looks like I might be a dawg next year. mark klingelhoefer
  22. The order form is almost completely filled out and on my desk right now. I have a few questions. I plan on just doing casual CReW but I am more likely to get into formations rather than competition. So here are the questions: Nose reinforcement, Yes or no? If ordering a Mesh slider, do I need to specify a slider color or is the ourside tape always white? Line Length choice 9, 8, or 8.5 (I'm ordering a 143)? Thanks in advance for the advise. Mark Klingelhoefer
