I know people on all sides of the debate, but I don't know anybody who is "pro abortion." I understand why you don't like the term "pro choice", but the label "pro abortion" is more demonizing than it is descriptive. Even semantically, it is not simply the logical opposite of the label "anti-abortion." You are either for peoples right to have an abortion, which in this case, you do not think it is the ending of a life, or anti abortion, because you think it is a form of murder. These are the facts. Stand up for what you believe in and don't hide behind pretty names if you think there is nothing wrong with the procedure. We are talking about people having abortions. Do you believe they should have the right to have them (Pro-abortion) or against them (Anti-Abortion)?

I've never understood this argument. You either believe that abortion is the ending of a life, or simply a medical procedure like removing a mole. If it is not a "life" then why would anyone be opposed to using abortion as birth control? If you believe that life does not start at conception, proudly say "YOU ARE PRO-ABORTION" because it is just a simple medical procedure that does not end a human life. In many ways, the people who have abortions could compare it to a cancerous mole being removed, as both will greatly affect their life if not "removed". If this is the way you feel, don't hide behind titles like "women's right to choose" and "Pro Choice". Stand up and say "I'm Pro Abortion as a form of birth control, or convienence, and proud of it". After all, there is nothing wrong with having a simple medical procedure.

What would it take to get you to change your vote?
klingeme replied to MikeForsythe's topic in Speakers Corner
Obama changing his stance on abortion and having more experience. -
You can squeeze it in there if you plan on doing a couple jumps with it, but I would not plan on doing it for any length of time. It's going to be a pain to pack and close. Mark Klingelhoefer

We tried that once, but his VP choice killed his chances. Perrot had some good ideas.

If you can't feed a deer with 11 slices, you need to become a better zookeeper. You don't need 250 slices of pie for a job that 1 or 2 slices can do.

I saw this to last night, and I thought it was a joke that they had Barkley trying to "match wits" with Stein. Completely out matched. And now Barkley (Mr. gambling is the best thing about football on Sundays) is going to be running for office. NICE.

Do DZ Liability Waivers Hurt the Sport?
klingeme replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When I was a Whitewater rafting guide (and kayak instructor) up north, we had a similar waiver that every customer had to sign before putting them in a boat. Mark Klingelhoefer -
I had it Tivo'd and watched it last night. I think I'll keep the show in my Tivo subcriptions for at least a few more weeks.

When do you consider yourself a "skydiver"
klingeme replied to mitsuman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
another thought that I've had is that until you get pied for you 100th, you are kind of a "Tourist". By this I mean you are not "sure" you are going to see that person back at the DZ. After you commit the time and effort into doing 100 jumps, the process of you being "pied" is kind of like saying "Welcome to the club, your now one of us." Mark Klingelhoefer -
To use a quote from Tara, who processes orders..... "You know what I did? I did what I do." She actually said that on March 29, 2006 and we made a little plaque (actually a post it note and a push pin) commemorating it. Mark Klingelhoefer

We made a 309 once for a 135/135 (Pilot), but this is the first I've heard of the 307....... Mark Klingelhoefer

Not to mention the looks you get from the lady next to you and her 12 year old looking over the top of your seat from behind you as you "read" it on the plane. Mark Klingelhoefer

I think the AFF instructor should take 15 minutes with the student for an ACTUAL debreif, in which the logbook should be filled out. This might slow down the AFF Factory, but the student is paying for a propper debreif as part of their jump ticket. Mark Klingelhoefer

I also had him taper the end silghtly (on advise from Olav) to keep it more rigid. This however slows it down a bit. Mine was 27' long so it had a LOT of drag. Attached is a full picture.

My rigger just used F111, PVC Pipe for the tube, Tubular webbing for the "Leash", and an old set of risers for the 2 ring cutaway (Foot mount only. I gave the tube away, so I don't have detailed pictures but here is the best I have. Mark Klingelhoefer

Given the choice between Hillbillies and Lawyers, I'll take Hillbillies. They tend to be more honest and "Straight Shooting" and Lawyers are quite the opposite if they feel they need to be. Mark Klingelhoefer

I think he has an obligation to speak up as a skydiver, but not as an S&TA, as he is not an S&TA at that DZ. If he spoke up as an S&TA, he could be contradicting things that the DZ's S&TA has said. Kind of like a visiting AFF instructor, not working but fun jumping, telling students something that contradicts "their" instructors. Mark Klingelhoefer

Never.....it just never happened, maybe a friend of mine, but not my parents. I wasn't raised that way, because I don't think they have a racist bone in their bodies. And the fact that Obama is not tied to things his wife has said....Do you honestly believe that she could not be the biggest "Special intrest group with a chance to have face time with the president"?

I pay my credit cards in full every month, so mine is currently somewhere between $0 and $500-$600 depending on where I am in the billing cycle, which is what I charge monthy. This pays for all of my utilities, shipping, etc.... This does not count my Car Loan, in that case, add about another $4,000.

I appologize. When you said I took it as refering to whites, as most people think that there is no such thing as a "racist Black Person". Mark Klingelhoefer

I'm getting confused. Is this alternative world where everthing is reversed, or the regular way? Is it Obama or McCain that has the half brother in another country? I don't see how whis matters though, becuase half sisters and half brothers hardly have the influence that the person sleeping in the same bed as the president has. I want a first lady that thinks we all deserve to have her supporting (in whatever capacity she does) us equally rather than an attitude like this: "There was no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost." Mark, don't insult our intelligence. There are plenty of people who profess -especially in their youth - (Michelle was a university student) to put first and foremost emphasis to benefit their ethnic group, or their religion, or a particular ideological agenda. For example, some people who are very staunchly anti-abortion. I have supported an unborn's right to life over a woman's right of convenience (Choice). I did when I was in college (11-14 years ago) and will forever. She said when she was in college that she would "utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost." Barack is one hell of a resource to accomplish her goals. Having the ear of and sleeping next to the president of the US should help her accomplish her life long goal. Mark Klingelhoefer

KGB - That surely will alleviate forthcoming discussions with Russia. One only can hope, McCain will not participate in these discussions. i can only hope Obama doesn't get in these talks. the guy has no understanding of foriegn policy and Biden has been wrong on most ocasions on foriegn policy. Yeah, but at least Obama (and about 50 journalists) recently vacationed in Iraq (but failed to say hello to the troops) so at least he has that going for him.
