  1. I like the idea, but I have to respectfully decline. I was just pointing out that Obama has already "FLIP FLOPPED" on things he said he would do in the primaries, because it made ALOT more sense to FLIP FLOP rather than taking the public financing he had agreed to. Saying you are for something (campaign finance reform) and then FLIP FLOPPING is just letting us know that your "promises" might not be carried out once you get into office. Mark Klingelhoefer
  2. Fantastic series I've read the first 4 (game, xenocite, speaker, children) 5 or 6 times.
  3. And made it a part of their campaign. edit for the spelling nazis
  4. Saying something and doing something else happens all the time, hense the term flip flop. Obama said he was for finance reform and would sign an agreement with the republican nominee, and then when it came time to "agree" FLIP FLOP
  5. "Obama Even Referred To His Plan As A "Fundraising Pledge" For His Opponents To Accept. Obama: "In February 2007, I proposed a novel way to preserve the strength of the public financing system in the 2008 election. My proposal followed announcements by some presidential candidates that they would forgo public financing so they could raise unlimited funds in the general election. The Federal Election Commission ruled the proposal legal, and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has already pledged to accept this fundraising pledge." (Sen. Barack Obama, "Presidential Candidate Questionnaire," Midwest Democracy Network, www.commoncause.org, 11/27/07) -- Obama: "If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election." (Sen. Barack Obama, "Presidential Candidate Questionnaire," Midwest Democracy Network, www.commoncause.org, 11/27/07) FLIP FLOP
  6. Kind of like Obama and campaign finance reform that I've heard brought up again within the last few days. I'm suprised more has not been made of this seeing as I see Obama comercials 10-1 as compaired to McCain, but when it's special intrests paying the tab, I guess that is easy to do. McCain rolled the dice to go with Federal money, while Obama rolled the dice to not do so. Each strategy had its repsective potential risks versus rewards. Obama's dice came up Seven; McCain's dice came up Snake Eyes. Atsa way it goes. But both agreed to public financing and Obama "Flip Flopped"

  8. So if she hires the guy to punch her, it's ok. I understand. Have a good weekend everyone. Dizzy is a weekday thing for me, so I'll check back in on Monday.
  9. OK, new question. Someone punches a woman who is half way through their second trimester in the stomach and terminates the pregnancy. Is this "simple assault" because nothing was "killed"? Mark Klingelhoefer
  10. So, since we're working on a time weighted scale here, is an early first trimester abortion as heinous as a partial birth abortion? What about a recently fertilized egg? You seem (on the verge of) admitting there are differences for each case, and yet you cannot see a grey area w/r/t abortions? .jim I'm just stating things that are fact. A 2 week old will have less people emotinally attached to it than a 16 year old simply because of the number of people they have been in contact with. The death is no less tragic, it is just tragic to fewer people. I think the recently fertilized egg has had an attachment to 1 person for how ever many days it has been fertilized. A full term (Partial birth) baby has had 1 "relationship for about 9 months". A baby thrown in a dumpster has the same amount of a "relationship" as the partial birth. Just a little more of a "visual" relationship. Do you claim that an infant that dies is greived for in the same way that a great grandparent with 4 kids, 12 grand children, and 2 or 3 great grand children? Both are tragic, but both are grieved for VERY differently. there is not GREY area.
  11. That is not OUR problem.. it is yours. Sounds like situational morality.
  12. Uh you did a very poor job of actually quoting me now didn't you. I said.... What gives YOU the right to decide for ANYONE else.. Last time I checked human being were given free will to follow what GOD has dictated for each of us... and they will be judged accordingly... Why are YOU usurping GOD's job? http://www.bartleby.com/108/40/7.html Judging Others 1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. Mk. 4.24 3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. By your assumption, we should not punish people for murder or theft or anything else cause "God will get them in the end". I still do not understand the "Pro Choice but anti abortion" crowd. If Abortion is the termination of a life which I believe it is, Abortion is Wrong and Murder. If this is not the case and the "Choice" is not ending a life, why not use it as birth control. I don't see how it can be Grey. it's either life or not, therefore, it's either ending a life or not. Mark
  13. And why is it OK for a 16 year old that has sex and gets pregnant to have an abortion so she does not screw up the rest of her life, but if you are 25-30 and making a good living, and happen to get pregnant, you should not be able to use it as "convienient birth control"/ Its either ending a life or not. it IS black and white.
  14. and some babies die at birth. Just because all the family and friends don't come to the funeral does not make it any less tragic. After a baby is born, it “makes bonds” with whomever it comes in contact with (be them large or small) Up until birth, only one person has a real “bond” with the baby is the mother. If she chooses to have a “ceremony” because of a miscarriage, I have not problem with that. A child that dies at 2 weeks will have many less people “grieving” it that a 16 year old that dies. It’s all about the relationships they were able to form.
  15. I'm not "pro war" but do think we should finish what we start rather than abandoning it. I am pro death penalty. If you willingly and knowingly kill someone who meant you no harm, you too deserve to die. I happen to be all for "responsibility" to avoid getting pregnant, but if you end up getting pregnant, you knew the conciquences before you had sex. If the woman decides she wants to have a kid (conceived out of wed lock) the man is on the hook for the rest of his life paying for it regardless of if he wants it. If a woman decides it'll be too much trouble, but the man is will ing to take care of the kid, he has NO choice. I understand....women want equality except for when it is not convienient. Mark Klingelhoefer
  16. I've never understood this argument. You either believe that abortion is the ending of a life, or simply a medical procedure like removing a mole. Perhaps this is where your confusion starts. The logical fallacy in your statement is commonly referred to as a false dichotomy. Blues, Dave If it is not one of these two things, what is the definition of Abortion?
  17. Do you think people should have the right to go to war? You're either for people to have the right to defend their country (pro-war) or you're against it (anti-war). If you're pro-war, why not just invade any country that looks at you a bit sideways? After all you don't see anything wrong with bombing people, it's just a procedure, like trade sanctions. People who Volunteer to join the military have made thier choice to do so for whatever reason they have, and I have the utmost respect for them, Women who are raped have not become pregnant voluntarily, and didn't make the choice to be made pregnant for ANY reason. Neither you, McCain nor Palin should be allowed to dictate to them what to do about the consequences of the rape. You should show some respect for rape victims and not force your morality on them. Rape is a HORRABLE thing and the DICKHEAD should be castrated, but the unborn baby did NOTHING wrong, so why kill it? If a drunk driver crashes into you and you become paralized, should you be allowed to kill your children because you can no longer take care of them?
  18. OK, tell me one reason that it is alright to take the life if you think life starts at conception, or one reason it is not ok to have an abortion if life does not start there. What if you don’t know when life begins I don't know for sure I have ideas? I believe most of us can not say for certain when life begins, and because we are not sure we do not believe we should make rules/laws that effect peoples lives on our opinion. People should have a choice to decide for themselves. So what is wrong with partial birth abortion of throwing a newborn in a dumpster?
  19. but if you drink and drive and kill an innocent baby, OK. But if you smoke around your baby and give it Asthma, no problem
  20. OK, tell me one reason that it is alright to take the life if you think life starts at conception, or one reason it is not ok to have an abortion if life does not start there.
  21. One of my favorite moments was when little Darius Kasparaitis (SP) knocked Eric Lindros's ass out for about a season and a half in 1998 with a completely legal check.
  22. I voted Pens, but I miss the days of the Stevens, Jagr, Lemeix line.
  23. Your completley right. After the abortions, we should decide if it is Murder 1 or manslaughter based on the situation of the "mother". There is your grey.
  24. People who Volunteer to join the military have made thier choice to do so for whatever reason they have, and I have the utmost respect for them, but we (in the USA) have a system set up where whatever the government decides is in the best intrest of the coutry goes. Some may not believe in "peace keeping missions" or defending against "civil rights violations" but once you sign up, you pretty much agree to do whatever you are told and loose the "right to decide". Now I'm overly simplifying it, but to compare a volunteer in the military who had a choice to sign a piece of paper to an unborn infant who's mother decided they just didn't want them are definantly APPLE to ORANGES.
  25. In the case that the mothers life is at risk, she has to choose between her life or her babies, and I think this is the only time when an abortion should be considered. One life or the other is going to be ended and while it is a tough "choice" I think this is the only time killing the baby should even be consdered. FACT Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy. an abortion is either: 1. the ending of a life 2. simply a medical procedure. WHERE IS THE GREY? Is it ending a life when the mother can not afford (either the time or the money) the baby? Is it not ending a life if a woman is raped? If you believe it is the ending of a life, ANY abortion is a form of murder (like throwing a newborn in a dumpster). If you don't believe it to be murder, than we should suggest them to anyone who does not want the inconvience of a child.
