Hi Author! WDOC has a womens "facility" located in Gig Harbor. I think the training time for Correctional officers is only 2-3 month's if that. Their always looking for employee's. Personnaly I think the only "good jobs" would be the persons who drives around the outside of the perimeter fence 24/7. BTW "the people in prison aren't nice and then you have to deal with the inmates" But it could give you some material for a book. R.I.P.

We attended one of the boogies in paradice late 80's early ninety's.The winds and the rotor's make landing a caopy at dillingham a real challenge. The locals had a map of the DZ don't land here, don't land there, that ones called Horners corner and he walks with a permanent linp stay away from there. Noticed the locals were jumping canopies at least one size smaller than on the mainland due to the winds. We'd watch folks getting ready to land and 50-100' of the deck the end cells on their PD's would collapse and then snap back open as they started to flare. The rotors comeing off the tree line were strange since they were parallel to the wind line. The injury rate at the boogie was about 30%. No problem just go do some tourist stuff untill most of us healed up and then go back to jumping. One jump we took the spot long because the winds picked up after T.O. we were last out open low and landed a couple mile east, couldn't even see the polo field. Packed in some guy's back yard walked to the main road aand hitch a ride back to the DZ with some jumpers getting a late start. They thought we were staying at one of the houses and just hitching a ride. They were joking about us getting a long spot and were surprised to find out that we landed that far out. We camped at the DZ for like 19 says and would use the showers at the campground across the road never had any problems with the locals. Watched one guy land offshore who was wearing his weight vest under his jumpsuit. The lady pilot was laying on the beach with her boogie board and went and got him as he was going down for the third time. Nice boogie, scenery etc, but a challenging landing area. R.I.P. Ps I can't swim and every island I've been on is surrounded by water. I hate that shit.. But I always take my rubber ducky (military) with me. The little wrist band flotation devices were a joke but some folks had them.

Just started on year # 30. In hindsight the time went fast. No fuss, no muss, no wailing no flailing no bitching no moaning, no regrets. I just do as I'm told

Hi Atsaubrey Don't worry be happy! I jumped with some big boys once at kapow (might be some of the guys amazon mentioned) Great bunch, great attitude, fun to jump with, they set the fall rate and we didn't have to worry about going low! Skygods? The first time I met one was in the mid seventies Some guy went low on his load so the skygod popped him in the mouth at the beginning of the debrief. Power and control thing. Some dropzones got skygod employee's some got professionals who know how to deal with the public. IMO don't waste your time worrying what a skysnob says on the net. Just think of the little kids in H.S. or the academys with their bully's & hazing. QC is gettting off on your anger. Don't feed the animals. Jump your ass off R.I.P. B7881 -
If this isn't a troll do us a favor and do a foum search on "coach rating" read some of the comments from "the real Kramer" aggie dave etc and then come back and ask the above question again. Not trying to hurt your fewelings but Mr Winsor IMO say it like it is. R.I.P.

Hi you all Anyone remember Bob Spraque? I think he was the Conference Director and judge? for the midwest back in the day. There was a "big Boy" thread in one of the other forums and I got to thinking about Bob. He was a big man and we got to do a wind dummy load with him at a conference meet. When he got in the door of the cessna it was like a eclipse of the sun, no wind no noise nothing. We ran into him years later in arizona or florida?and didn't recognize him. He must have lost half his weight. Anyone got any funny Bob Spraque stories? know what happened to him?

Big Boy Wants to Jump : HELP HIM JUMP
slug replied to AlphaMale's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi skybytch You made a lot of good points except you may have missed one. How many people make only 1 jump vs hundreds? 100 to 1? Why should a person who hasn't even made their first jump worry about the cost of gear, doing 4 way with video etc etc. Lets help the guy make his first jump So he can see if he likes it, then you can "help" him get some gear! Beware! Now that the canopy has been marked by "your best friend" (dog), all the other dogs on the DZ are going to be very interested in your rig. Keep us posted! R.I.P.

>> and the chicks behind us keep hitting our seats and getting up and down and ahhh it was SO annoying! >> Wife was recovering from neck surgery (collar etc). We're flying somewhere. Flight sold out. A little kid is sitting next to it's mommy and behind my wife. Kid keeps on kicking the back of my wife's seat. Wife tells mommy she just had surgery, kids kicking is causeing her pain. Mommy tells kids to be nice. Kid keeps on kicking back of wife seat. Wife tells mommy again, ditto. Kid keeps on kicking back of wifes seat so she turns around and tells mommy if she doesn't control the kid the wife's going to chop off the kids legs, sew his mouth shut and put him in the overhead rack. Mommy switch's seats with kid so the rest of the flight the kids sitting behind me. But he's not kicking the back of my seat either.

Interesting question. It lokks like the respons you got below their talking per coach $200/instructor 55/uspa 100/4 jump tickets. Is USPA giving out coach numbers like liscense #'s? Anyone know: How many folks got their coach rating so far? How many instructor's there are? Does USPA charge a annual fee for the coach rating? R.I.P.

*** has anyone heard this besides the Rock song that has the same words? Didn't know it was a poem but overheard something similar from a "senior citizen" telling a sweet young thing. "You are as I was, I am as you will be" IOW we were all born and we'll all get old (some just older than other's).

Did the shrike use 550 cord for the suspension lines, or some lower strength material.?
-
Yep. But we'll all get to meet Roger on the "other side", some of us just sooner than the other.
-
Ask roger the next time you see him

We never saw the ad about the homebuilt kit. But we did have a guy at our DZ in Kansas (1970) that jumped a knockoff PC. I think the guy was from california but could be wrong. The guy told us a friend of his had made a pattern from a PC and assembled a small run of "X" canopies. He also said that once the PC people heard about it they told the guy to stop doing that. The canopy looked the same as a reguler PC Except for the suspension lines. The were lighter than 550 cord, I forget their strength but they had a black thread on the outside of the casing.

Smart question! Maybe one of the sparkies can confirm this but IMO even the powerlines crossing the street can be nasty. I think it all depends on where the transformer is located. We landed on a dirt road in the country once and our canopy draped over a power line crossing the road going to a farmers pump house. Didn't see the damn line until our feet almost hit it as we passed over it.
