Hi Kennedy Damn this is fun I'm sure a lot of this bantering is due my poor command of the english language. I was born and raised in the USA. I don't know the exact stats for WA state but we have a high percentage of residents that are liscensed to carry. No requirement except some paperwork. But we also have a very low violant crime rate.

Hi Hero The thumbs up signal could mean a lot of things. What you going to do the next time someone give you the thumbs up and things don't look right? Middle finger and smile

Hi Lou Foot in mouth, but good advertising

Hi Mr Atsaubry Ooops ft in mouth! Damn is that the one that had a starting price of $500. That rig looked like it was new. Is the military still doing that 7 yr shelf life stuff? Don't answer that. R.I.P.

Hi Cruzlite ""PS/ Slug - We seem to have similar mind sets... If & when I order a new VIII it will have B-12s"" There is another option and that's to get long leg straps & let the slack out, lay the rig on the ground step into the leg staps and then lift the rig up and cinch up the straps. That way you can still look hi speed and let out the slack for the walk back. I think B-12's are a age thing.

Do you think there should be limits, and if so, how many and how much? And why? The only limit on # of guns that a person can own is how much can they afford to spend and store safely. Ther is a limit on the amount of ammo that can be stored in a residence or business. AFAIK this has to do with the Fire codes. So it's a storage safety issue. AFAIK We can buy as much ammo as we can afford. The more ammo we buy the lower the unit price. So we buy it by the case. Proper storage is a problem. Plus that stuff is heavy! A gun owner that shoots 100 rds/week at the range. Thats 5000 rds/year. Buying 2-3 40 rd box's every week gets expensive. Buying ammo by the case is the only practical way to go. I assume there are proper methods of storage available. R.I.P.

Hi John "Do you see where "gun" is on that list?" Yes I do Guns work for both the bad people and the good people See my response to jerry's message above about the waiting period. In my situation it's not a issue. I respect the right of private citizens to carry a gun if they think they need it. Work in a liquor store, bar, 7-11, high crime area etc, there are a lot of high risk situations/occupations were a gun would be nice to have. I'm lucky enough not to be in that situation. In the last 35 years there was only one time where "they almost got me" and that wasn't in a high crime area. It was on the street during the week and in broad daylight. There was two of them one of me, they were across the street when they they saw me looked over their shoulder, I knew what that meant I looked over mine Shit no witnesses. Then they crossed over to my side of the street and we kept on getting closer. The only thing that saved my butt was a guy came out of a office and got some stuff out of the trunk of his car.

Hi Jeff Thanks for yor comments, I'll try and respond but you'll have to excuse the spelling or I'll sic my dogs on you >>I always get a kick out of people who think their dog is going to be the weapon they use defensively against an attacker, or more specifically that the dog will somehow swoop in just between the time when a response with deadly physical force would be justified against an attacker, and when that attacker has already done his damage. What makes you think that if you sicced your dogs on someone at the same time you would otherwise have shot him, that you won't answer for that legally (with the help of your apparently apathetic lawyer)?>> I've had my dogs for 10 years so we're really good friends and we spoil them rotten and you've never met them personally so your statement may be correct in general terms but not in this case. We would never "sic" our dogs on anyone, and never intend to. As soon as someone hears 200#'s of barking dogs (we live in the country) or when we go into the city and people see them they decide to go somewhere else. Of course if the bad people are bad enough they will kill the dogs first, I don't have anything that valuable. Your statement about dogs may be valid in general terms but not in my case. They are a early warning system and a deterent. If you know anyone in special ops or the police dept ask them about dogs. In our house our dogs have more right's to protect their territory than we do. Don't need a lawyer. >>And I wonder if you mean a situation like in Los Angeles during the 1991 riots, when people who decided they needed a gun for protection went to the shops to find out that even honest, law-abiding citizens would have to wait FIFTEEN DAYS for purchase. Because if the truth be told, that was not nearly "a total breakdown of law and order," and clearly people who needed guns were not able to obtain them, and would have been pretty screwed, had things really gone utterly to shit. >> The fifteen day waiting period doesn't appy to us. Learned that in the boy scouts, same with food and water

There's one for sale on E-bay. Don't know where it came from. Buyer beware. R.I.P.

My rig is older than when you quit vector 2 I've downsized to the "state of the art" 7-10 yr's ago? ZP the infamous Sabre 170. I'm only loading the canopy at 1.1 so it's not a rocket and I believe in the k.i.s.s. principal so I just saved the money and switched pilot chutes from old canopy to new (no kill line). AFAIK a kill line is like adding a little extra zip to your canopy, but I've also heard a lot of folks ask for a gear check including the kill line. A newer jumper asked me to check his kill line and I told him sorry don't know how. He was surprised there was something else. BTW we also have B-12 hardware on our leg straps so no falling over putting the rig on and lots of comfort walking back to the packing area. But it's hard to look cool with the old fart stuff. Whatever floats your boat. R.I.P.

I have a good story along those lines too... . This thread has been hijacked into a number of other interesting areas. The question is about accountability. IOW, should the person that allows a BSR violation to occur be penalized at any time in the future? The reply about someone crashing under a main with an out-of-date reserve comes closest to the scenario. I have a contrived example that hopefully will generate replies that address accountability versus the position someone holds at a DZ. This example is not as general as the original question, but it might help you understand the original question. Suppose Joe opens the door on jumprun (Twin Otter, Skyvan, King Air, Caravan etc). Joe looks down and sees that it is a solid overcast. Joe's group decides not to jump. The group behind Joe wants to jump. They get in the door and go. Joe knows they are violating an FAR, but does nothing to stop them from jumping. Do you think Joe should be held accountable for their jump through the clouds? Does your answer depend if Joe is 'just a licensed jumper', a Coach, an Instructor (any discipline), an S&TA, the DZO or a BOD member? Yes, I know the FARs say the pilot in command is responsible too. The question is about Joe's accountability. If you want to think more, if one of the jumpers died from a low turn (on the airport - the spot was good), should Joe be held accountable for the BSR violation? . IMO you got to look at the org chart at a DZ. As far as punching holes thru a solid overcast before exit There are two people on the aircraft that can say no for everyone, the PIC and the DZO if the ST&A is backed up by the DZO than he should also be able to make the call Since your talking about a larger airplane someone on the plane someone is responsiable for determining proper exit order etc. Since the spot was good in spite of a solid overcast It sounds like the DZ would "sometimes use a GPS for verifying the initial spot". Joe didn't open up the door based on his own instinct's. Someone turned on the green light, yelled door whatever based on the GPS. Joe opened the door and looked and said no way. If joe had the stroke all he had to do was shut the door tell the pilot to descend and everyone to sit down and hook up. Almost the same situation as a go around, usually group 2 wouldn't say we don't need a go around get out of the way we be gone. It don't happen that fast. If joe has the stroke and group 2 knows it their not going to leave because the DZO just says your out of here! USPA hasn't removed a GMDZ's membership since? The USPA person has no authority before the exit and very little if any after the fact. The DZO runs the show and sets the procedures at their DZ. I know of one DZ that has a Mcnasty with a hotline to the FAA everytime someone punch's thru a cloud, Mcnasty has more stroke than USPA does, and the DZO listens to the FAA. A serious injury by a jumper attempting a high performance landing after punching a hole thru a cloud with a good spot? IMO has nothing to do with the cloud situation. Same with the out of date reserve. R.I.P.

What goes around comes around. If she got it and he got it from herthen you got it from him and you don't know it The Dr can tell you if you already got it and how to treat it, get it R.I.P.

What other means of defense do you have? 1) My Brain to scope out the situation before I get out of the car. 2) 2 Dogs total weight 200#'s that are with us most of the time, including bed. 3) Wife carries pepper spray 4) Run like hell I prefer not to have the police or courts second guessing me if I shoot someone. Excessive force, etc. If I win in court my lawyer wins if I lose in court my lawyer wins. I'm guessing if there's a total breakdown of law and order there will be a gradual escalation of violence which will give us time to get our toys ready to protect our property from the bad people. R.I.P.

Just read what you wrote above. You already know what to do. IMO BTW stop by the Dr's office ASAP. R.I.P.

Great idea! For future refernce We started installing tile in our place, do you know how many diferent color's of grout there are. Then we started looking at the resturant's fast food places ect. Dark grey is very populer. R.I.P.

Violence at the work place or DZ is kid stuff. Your dealing with a "slut, drug user, etc. If you poped her in the mouth, scratched her whatever, your talking about exchanging body fluids with a person in a high risk group. Pepper spray is nice

I would like to downsize but keep the w/l the same so I'm waiting until I drop 30 lbs. Watch out below! R.I.P.

You guy's got air conditoning in your car? Do you know the cars max load capacity and it's center of gravity? Cubic ft of seating capacity? What ever you do don't put all the big guy's on the same side of the car. If you go around a corner to fast a single car rollever is possiable. Are you guy's going to wear some of those nice smelly green xmas tree's around you necks with a gold chain to the DZ. When you get to the DZ, slouch and suck it up.

slug replied to Jethers203's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you get a chance on one of you tandem rides take a small autowind or video camera with you and geek your yourself and jumpmaster. We also got some really good freefall shots of our buddy doing the video. R.I.P. -
How about shuffle board rather than golf? The stick and pucks are a lot lighter, court fee can't cost to much, and you get to make new friends with the same people every time you play with them

I've got a couple of 9mm's Gock's. Less expensice to shoot, can still get 32 round magazines, very few parts so it's easy to take apart & clean. Since I'm not a cop or need a gun for work, I'm not concerned about stopping power. Just want to punch holes in the center of the paper plate. BTW washingtom state is a "right to carry state" In seatlle if you want to carry a concealed weapon and have a clean record getting a permit is no problem. I let my permit exoire since I never carried a concealed weapon. The crime rate in seattle is minimal. We don'yt need to go to the bad parts of town and and have other means of defence. R.I.P.

Cops are "busy people" in your situation their dealing with a he said, he said, no witnesses, bruises etc. If your coworker is goofy enough to put his hands on you, your probably not the first one. Use your grapevine at work to try and find out as much as you can about the guy just be discreat about it. HR is also very busy so maybe they didn't have the time to check his references unless this is just his first job. If HR doesn't do anything to the guy, or trys to sweep it under the rug start looking for another job for "career advancement" purposes. R.I.P. R.I.P.

We watched two nice ones at a boogie in Montana I forgot the name of the place One year the pilot "elevater" (don't know if that's a common name for pilots) Had a really clean looking Twin beech at the end of the day he did his fly-by at a safe enough altitude to do a very nice 4 pt barrel roll. No point in guessing the altitude but he was low and he stopped every 90 degree's and never lost any altitude. Very impressive

IMO The jumping part is just the "ride to get to work" once they land than the real work begins R.I.P.
