Hi Riddler After seeing you message I tried to contact our local DAV to find out what services the provide etc. I found three different "chapters" in our Metroplex. The first chapter I contacted dropped the call before I ever got a response. The other two "chapters" had the same answering system and Voice. When calling the local DAV you have one option "dial 1 to leave a message". IMO this is a fund raising organization with no benifits for vets from any country disabled or otherwise unless the owner is a vet Check you local DAV if you get the same message and you want to, you know what to do. BTW Lee 03 responded to this thread stating he belongs to DAV is a retired vet and doesn't get medical benifit's. Very odd

We had a farmer type, shot a guy who had this thing for his sheep and wouldn't stay away. Didn't kill the guy so don't know if the guy's still going back. A number of years the Police we called to a Frat party at the UW and removed some sheep in a "highly agatated (sp?) state. Also found some freshmen undressed. Don't know what that was all about. Go to X ray at 8AM receptionist is sitting in a cage everyone is pissed off. Freelunch at noon still no X ray. Finally 2PM got my Xray

Telemarketing cost money to operate, the agency that they say they represent usually gets considerably less than 50% of the funds raised. (pls don't quote me and argue specific numbers). We've got a bad situation going on in the big sandbox and someone is playing the emotion card. IMO most vets, their friends and family members care, The politicians, Military leadership "No comment" Gov't agencies tasked with helping vets are "underfunded". Lets support our troops & their families by writeing our elected reps in congress about vet issues as thet arise. Since this is a election year I expect the politicans to play the vet card again. Once they get elected it's no longer a issue for them. IMO Contributing money thru telemarketing just isn't cost effective. I'll give the local DSA a call to let them know my opinion. Hi Mr Atsaubrey I kind of had a idea that you "men" were going to start this Big Boy thing so we started a thread in Skydivng History & Triva under BoB Spraque? This was "back in the day" and these big men really wanted to jump and their rd canopy choices were limited. We didn't get as many big Boy stories as we had hoped (wrong tittle) but you might want to check it out for a giggle, and maybe start a big boy thread in the forum for some more old time "anvil"stories. You guy's have a heritage of hard core jumpers to follow ie: A guy jumping with 2 reserves, another guy made up his own Jump suit patch's for anyone who could catch him in freefall. Enjoy

I dont know why you got bumped from the 9-way, but a skydive is what you make it. If you'd rather sit one out because you couldnt get on the jump you wanted to be on.. thats your choice. However, if I were one of the folks who had to wait 45 min for someone else to manifest, I'd be giving you and the L.O. dirty looks. It wasn't the L.O's fault. He's a great guy & I've known him for a long time. He was put in a bad position by the cutback in staff. He had to consider the success of the multi point nine way vs breaking it into two groups. In the past the smaller group would have been another L.O. and the less experienced/capable jumpers. To the L.O. credit he didn't want to ask the low timer to do a solo so he tried to draft us as unpaid staff. As far as the other jumpers having to wait and being , we had already been jumping together for a couple of days so they knew all three of us and weren't . It was more like "Dude we don't know what you did but we're glad it was you and not us"
