  1. Hi Airtwardo The last time we jumped a PC was about 10 years ago. For some reason I didn't recall the landiings "back in the day' to be so abrupt I don't think as we get older that we can't handle the landings we were making "way back when" but over the years our (mine) waist size has been increasing so the suspended weight under the canopy is increasing. (W/L ??) Us little boy's are now big boy's and the big boy's are "filling out". I don't mind putting on the years it's the lb's the lb's we're doomed we're all doomed R.I.P.
  2. Hi Four I'm not a pilot. IMO your hunch is correct, it's time to find a different plane to fly.
  3. You guy's sucked me into this Twice
  4. Maybe a little history of helmet usage in the sport might help. In the 60's-mid 70's approx jumpers wore motorcycle Helmets. Certified all that stuff. At that time the RW experience level was low: combat RW etc. Somewhere in the 1970's jumpers changed to Frap hats and tight jumpsuits to baggy one's (wing wars). Sometime in the late 80-s jumpers starting switching to full face helmets (in my opinion because the RW teams were doing it and it looked ) Some of the jumper with frap hats were concerned about a jumper with a hard hat running into them in freefall and causing more damage than a person with a frap hat would. Now jumpers have gone electronic and need some place to hang all their gear: protac's Dytters video camera's. We recently saw someone requesting info on how to get surface scratch's out of their helmet. No disrespect to the person who asked the question, and If I spent $$$ on a helmet I might be concerned about the "aerodynamic's" of my helmet with/out scratch's. But what does wearing a non certified helmet with a scratch have to say about how we are looking at the issue of head protection. Are we skydivers who are concerned about adequate head protection or fashion dolls who are willing to accept a sub par product. R.I.P. BTW A friend had his bell rung on a RW dive by another skydiver who denied hitting him "that hard" the video showed the meat missle running into him without a flare. knowing your limit's and not hurting other people in the air can help prevent some mid air stuff.
  5. At least Ann is better looking than Rush IMO Just another talking head that has to be controversal to get on radio/T.V. It worked for Rush he gets paid very well for talking trash. No debate just IMO R.I.P.
  6. Hi slappie Your correct people do make mistakes, we're all human and perfection is a goal. I hope we can agree that mistakes can be made on both side of the equation. The only people who don't make mistakes are the people who don't do anything. Thats the buyer and seller. The "no refund policy" warrenties etc are business tools but there are always exceptions unless your dealing with a "bad outfit". I agree this wasn't the best way to handle this "failure to communicate" by both parties. "Live and learn" from who? someone who says i'll look into it and get back with you, read the sign Next! or from lifes experiences? Our experiences must be different.
  7. Hard is when the opening shock takes your breath away, you see stars, check to see if your shoes are still on, Hurts like hell. You get a "hard opening" you'll never forget it, and try and figure out how to keep it from happening again. Unless your into pain and have a short neck. R.I.P.
  8. Me thinks this is the third post of this type that I've seen in the last Month? Looks like DZ.com is turning into a consumer complaint/collection agency. Via informal peer group pressure. This is the internet, someone cries foul, is it true? who's at fault? do the regulers get treated the same as the tourists?. Hell I don't know. Maybe "upper" mangement will take care of the "alledged problem" that they were "unaware of". If not, looks like someone else will. Next R.I.P.
  9. Damn talk about slamming the door.
  10. Workmens comp by it's very nature is a adversial situation. The workmens comp rep works for the company not you. Their job is to deny claims If you can prove that you were actually injured at work, surf the net and find out the next step in the process in the state that your employed in for settleing you claim. The workmens comp rep is not judge and jury. More like a "NO" person. The Yes stamp is locked in the safe and the boss has the key. I'm guessing the state has the last word on your claim Not a lawyer. If you pursue this you will tagged as a disguntled employee, a lazy bum, etc. False claims are against the law. R.I.P.
  11. Hey . What is wrong with golf? Uh Uh .... Nothing except it would be interesting to see if "big cheese" asked "Did you play a couple rounds this weekend. what was your score. "3 holes in one, couple eagles ,etc and tiger is a real nice guy" R.I.P.
  12. Sorry for your loss, both of them Every DZ has it's own definition of "Customer service" same as gear manufactures. Same as a jumping "buddy". Thanks for the headsup on on the subject DZ. When we first read you thread we thought you were talking about the other DZ. (The big one with the pink hanger?) R.I.P.
  13. Maybe verify if you parents are legaly liable for your debt's. If not just self insure your burial expenses. FWIW we don't carry any Life insurance. No kids R.I.P.
  14. Tell the boss you quit jumping and took up golf, tennis, stamp collecting or something else. See if he asks you about the golf game.
  15. KISS principal: When in doubt Whip it out

  18. Dr's do it all the time. Was in the hospital and heard the Dr ask the guy in the room next door, what he wanted to do R.I.P. You were in the hospital and heard this? Doctors do this "all the time"? Heard it in the "next room"? What is your "line of work"? I was a patient in a cardiac wing of the hospital. The guy in the next room may have had a hearing problem so the Dr was speaking in a loud voice. My guess is the patient had gone "code blue" (T.V.) before and would do it again. So the Dr was giving the guy a choice. In the past we talked with a nurse that was just starting her career and left one patients chart on his room mates bed. The roomie asked about the "No Code" notation on the chart. When he found out what it meant he was gone! Living will? Isn't that where we get the right to tell the hospital in advance how far to go? R.I.P.

  22. >> Maybe the offficer who arrested the senior saw something that told him the senior was DWC "Driving while confused" made same turn three times because he didn't realise he was in the wrong town. I may be wrong but a lot of seniors have medical problems and are on meds. The only way to find it maybe to draw blood or urine. Drive a auto when DWC is bad enough but towing a 5th wheel is a challenge. Did the cycle hit the truck or 5th wheel? This time it resulted in a death. To bad. R.I.P.
  23. Maybe the cops have seen it happen to many times and are trying to send a strong message to the other folks/DMV that shouldn't be driveing. The CHP's action was harsh but maybe if enough of them do it, and the press get's involved then the politicians will step in. Was it california where the confused senior drove thru the outdoor market killed a few folks. I'm no advocating a age limit for driving. But a annual driving test after a certain age would be nice. The guy on the bike is dead! He didn't sign a waiver. His family will never get over the loss. The senior? R.I.P.
