    Sitfly carves

If you are in a sit and carving to the left, then you are carving clockwise, not counter-clockwise. He would have to have seen your skydive to have known whether this was true. YES, something is making you both carve; however, it may (or may-not) be the same thing causing it for each person. Correcting this the right way would require a good video debrief. Truth is, only one large body part (a torso) or two of your smaller body parts (head, hands, hips, feet, legs, back, or even a big and stiff earlobe) can cause a carve. Do what every freeflyer should do: Learn what symmetry feels like by doing a bunch of jumps with someone who falls straight down the tube. Then, keep on jumping. People pick up carves all of the time. Sometimes for as many as 100 jumps without being able to rid themselves of the bad habit. Get video and take a good look at cause and effect... The cause of the movement and/or the effect of the wind on your body within its position.
  2. I once spent 8 g's on an engagement ring. Damn, that was a close one...and she actually gave it back when I asked (well, kinda demanded) it back. That was nice of her...Wheeeewwwwwwww

  5. why?.... because it wasn't a problem that a simple 401k loan could not solve.
  6. ...so much for being well rounded and focussed.
  7. Ever give a nice gift to yourself? A friend in business says, "If your doing well, it's a good idea to take a piece of the success and turn it into a reward." Good advice I think. When I was about 20 and in college, I used to treat myself to a Wendy's burger and shake for a grade of B or better. LOL By dipping into the good old tax-refund this year, that is what I did - except on a larger scale. After my first year in business I gave the following gift to myself... Of course, it will never hold a candle to the real thing, but it looks absolutely beautiful in my living room. You guys/gals ever do this?
  8. There is excellent detail in it, but you gotta help me out a little...
  9. This obviously is the resulting advice from someone with a few children and years of parenting experience. See you there if it ever happens...
  10. 2:6:0 It started raining on Saturday; which is basically when the drinking started. Harry Potter turned out to be fun though...

  17. We have confirmation on Alyson and Stacy's spandexes of choice. I'm am attaching them here. Believe it or not, the suits are even going to match their containers. I have my eye on something special for our little event. However, the unveiling will not be until a couple of days before the jump. Plans for the New Jersey Spandex Record may be changed to happen during the Sussex Boogie. But if it doesn't occur then, we will reschedule for th 26th of June. Don't you just love their spandex of choice. It's so SWOOO.
  18. But how are low-experience jumpers going to know the difference? If a local 'skygod' hook it low accidentally, then YEAH, regardless of experience you know that this person made a mistake. What if a local skydiver, who you know has been around longer than you, advises you to upgrade to a collapsible pilot chute because it will improve your performance under canopy? Tell me, is this an "example of what to do" or a "warning of what not to do". I would argue that it is neither and both, isn't it? Sometimes the correct path isn't going to be soooo clear. My point behind all of this is that, as sky-flyers and canopy pilots, it is our responsibility to judge the validity and safety of advice in the sport. At your level, how are you going to go about this?
  19. "..to walk along this lonely street of dreams" - Whitesnake lyrics "..to walk along knowing it's three degrees" - my lyrics This one's from highschool and I am still not living down.
  20. This site is really... Not Safe For Work NSFW!!!!
  21. I confirmed this with John Eddowes over the weekend. This is going to be the location where we land during the event.
  22. For me it would certainly depend on the area of discipline we are talking about. I used to have a different philosophy about it. I'd like to know if anyone else cares to share their veiwpoint on taking advice around the DZ... Perhaps I'm guilty of some obscure form of discrimination. Guilty as charged. But when I was learning to skydive I made it a point to listen to the top people around. (Probably the smart thing to do at the time - being self-driven to learn and not knowing the environment well enough.) After a while and gaining some numbers, I found myself closely discriminating based on numbers. Why?... Who knows?, but I had it in the back of my head. Of course, the arena of skydiving is a much more clear picture after having been in the sport for a few years. Some of the most knowledgable people in skydiving aren't avid jumpers themselves. They include riggers, pilots, students who have a MAL different from yours, DZ owners who aren't current anymore (you know you you are!!!), and even the grounds-keepers at our beloved DZs. Please vote and let us know.
  23. Mike Swanson. First coach jump with him at about 100 jumps about six years ago. This would be the first time I flew with someone who really knew what they were doing. The visual impression that I got from my first coach jumps probably has a lot to do with my interest in freefly. The dude has been moving like magic since I've been around. Damn!!
