  1. perfectly understood, but do you reach and touch during freefall. I never did it but I will do it now. It only takes a second or 2. It just seems to be a good EP that should be added to our (my) procedures. We all do things different, but if it promotes safety so be it.
  2. I wont bet you because I don't bet another man's game. I just bought one of those thingys you speak about ($19). What is a gutted 550?? PS you dont have answer right away as I am going to make meself a "little drink"
  3. I just ask manifest, they have it in their system. If not just add feb,27,+120 days hence june 27.Voila!
  4. A fellow skydiver asked me a question last week. "do you reach for your handles in freefall" In retrospect I said No. I am constantly doing that on the ground. Well those handles are not in the same spot while in freefall therefore I have just added that to my list of things for the muscle memory. Just a little food for thought
  5. I am doing Eloy firstime march 1st to the 8th. It's great to hear all the good vibes about the dz & the people. Damn it's worse than than waiting for Christmas day.
  6. Yup, door fear is real, it keeps me on top of my game, it makes me put my entire skydive into perfect perspective. As for the exits, I tumbled my first 30 jumps until Kip Lohmiller said" what's written on the bottom of the plane"??? In one jump my CONFIDENCE level went from 0 to 100%. Sometimes it takes one little minor thing that an instructor says to ring that bell. Hang in there brother because it gets better & better as your confidence level goes up. More important is that I have and will continue to have the UTMOST respect for a sport that gives me a tremendous amount of fun, but can send me home with one stupid mistake.
  7. ***After your under canpoy and your body weight is being supported by the leg straps, is it possible the leg straps could begin to loosen themselves (webbing begin to slide through the adjustment hardware)? anything is possible but some things are highly improbable.
  8. going to Eloy march 1st to the 8th, maybe you could tell us wussy warm air jumpers how to dress. brrrr Two thumbs up to you guys.. I put my rig away when the mercury hits the 30ish..
  9. Congrats on your A, I got my A this past summer and vowed to get good with my canopy 1st and formost because that is what hurts most of us.
  10. Welcome to a great sport Becky, When we can't jump due to weather,.. just look up and pretend... it works... Be smart & be safe
  11. Welcome to a great sport & the best people you will ever meet in your lifetime. Be smart & you will be safe
  12. You should talk to the people you jump with first then you can start to look at your options. I would rather purchase gear from ppl I know and jump with rather than on line classified. just my .02
  13. ***you never know you might find tandem more scary as you are used to being in control... Good point!!!!
  14. fun yes!!!! lucrative "no" Maybe for the few and far between
  15. Yes I am being lazy, but could someone give me the clicky for traveling with my rig so I could print it out. I am going to Eloy in 3 weeks and want to dot my i and cross my tees prior to departure.
  16. I stand corrected, "I looked at the bottom of the plane and it got me stable" ??????? I can't see how that was ill advised, but I will reiterate with "I look" not "you should". Was that so bad. Did I say yank your rear riser.. No! come on now!!!!
  17. I developed a way to get my new 190 sabre2 in the bag after the second try. It's alittle expensive but it works... You get a pair of scissors and cut that miserable,,has eyes and a brain little piece of sh*& nylon in half and viola'.. all kidding aside, it takes time. I have never cursed at an inanimate object more in my life than my canopy. I am convinced that PD installs little cameras in these new canopy's via satelite and sit back and laugh their asses off. "wow did you see that one jump out the bag"haha
  18. 90 days, then you should do a category d with a AFF instructor. SIMS section 5-2 item D3
  19. nothing but learning my canopy. Coach course's every chance I can get. I learned how to fall in a short time, but it takes years & tons of jumps to fly. I will devote 2 or 300 jumps this year on JUST canopy control, then I will do the 6,8 or 10 or what ever. I WILL be a good canopy piot before the end of this season. This is my goal.. And I will achieve it.....
  20. I had a change of mind after I got my A. I was hell bent on doing 4,5,6 and 8 ways. Well after 20 jumps I was able to get stable in couple of seconds, thats when it occured to me that it's time to forget about falling, I can track, turn, fall fast or fall slow and get out of the way if I need to. I rambling.... I have decided to devote my entire summer strictly on canopy control, I am going to Eloy in March for a ton of coach jumps and I just signed up for some coach courses at my DZ this summer. I want to know my canopy like my best friend. I will then go to the freefly skills. Just my opinion.
  21. I gave advice to someone who had 8 jumps and I had only 25 jumps... This person had problems with getting stable after exit and I said "just look at the plane until you get flat". He PM'd me and said "great advice" it worked. Had I said that here I would have gotten spanked like a bad puppy. Can anyone dispute that advice?? I love these forums but it's (or maybe always has been)?? become "my daddy is bigger than yours" hey sky gods..don't forget where you came from.. Hey Reginald, this was in support of your post, just needed some where to put it
