  1. ***Is it impossible foe me to achieve this dream no ,,,,, lose some weight.. you are getting negative replies because it would be dangerous for the total weight of both jumpers. Please don't take it personally, it's a very important safety issue
  2. ditto: I considered it until I paid special attention to the packers while on the DL list one day and quickly came to conclusion that this is for the younger ones. I have at (48) busted my ass enough. And to pack all day.... that's a days work....
  3. my understanding is that once your signed off, you then can jump "solo" but not engage with other jumpers until your A license is obtained. Please correct me if Im wrong
  4. ***Not meaning to condone lying on the app Ditto, don't want the Insrance dept to come and get me. At least your only 1/2 drunk. hehe
  5. if you buy the policy while living in NY and you lie on the application eg: (I dont and have never gone skydiving) and you die within 2 years of the issuance of the policy, they (Ins Co) will search the USPA and any other available data to see if you have done 1 or a 1000 skydives hence coverage will be denied. If you die while skydiving (should have been included in the above) 1 day past the 2nd year the company MUST pay the claim regardless of what was put on the application. And there is NO EXCEPTION to this law. Period. Any Ins exec's care to comment?? New York State!!
  6. NYS law: A policy MUST be signed in person
  7. buy your policy in New York, they can't exclude it
  8. just look at my handle, i said it soooo many times that I just bring beer every weekend. That way I am way ahead of eneryone
  9. 7 of us just came back from Arizona from JFK (NY). WE all carried our rigs on board with no problems. Coming back to JFK I was questioned briefly, then showed the scanners the x-ray card that came with my cypress and all was fine. I also had the TSA article re: AAD but did not need to present it.
  10. regardless of where your from, I would not have the DZ make that decision. I personally would do at least a couple of coach jumps even if it wasnt a requirement of the DZ. Come on bro, think about it.
  11. I had Mark Kruse (crosskeys) do my rig and it looks as good as the day I bought it. I might be wrong but I was under the impression that a master rigger could not repack your reserve without doing the SB??
  12. ***JUMP! Skydiving Made Fun and Easy is loaded with information to help you evaluate the answers against both safety and your needs. Ditto, Great book. It will answer all of your questions and then some. Two of my wuffo friends read it and then did a tandem.
  13. I had the same problem, I could not hear my audible I am hard of hearing and just went back to my visual. Someone here mentioned wearing ear plugs in freefall and you will hear your audible better. I never tried it because I sold my 4 jump ditter for $100. I will try it this summer though.
  14. Say hello to Jim and Elmo from the group @ skydive Long Island
  15. ditto!!!! politics suck and it's every where. But we do and always will be one group when things go bad. If you bump into someone in the off season who you have never met (say wearing a preyor pin) you don't ask him where he jumps prior to the ole' handshake. Have fun with it rather than examine the negativity, we are all one
  16. I wonder how or if it will open *** Same thing here, got out and looked at my handles. Viola, it opened like a charm, much to my suprise??
  17. good post, i did AFF but had to do a HP from 4500k I always pulled @ 45 so the fact of getting out @ 45 then pull meant I was well below my normal pull alti. Moving foward, the guys @ my DZ all did S/L in a real small DZ (we have since moved to a mega DZ)/ These guys are super great canopy pilots because of the small landing area. I can't answer this question but the above statement sort of answers half of the post. this season will be devoted to canopy control ONLY. I learned how to fall, it's time to fly
  18. could someone delete my thread. Im such a dick I was looking at January 2004. Sorry about that, I gotta throw some of these old issues away therefore I wont stick my foot in my mouth. Oh well
  19. 2 hours ago, when I got home from work
  20. I just read the editorials in the march Parachutist regarding the january Issue front page. Some mentioned experimental and unsafe. The picture is a 70 stack. I have seen stacks before (only in parachutists). I am aware this a very difficult task, but am I missing something?? I looked at the picture in great detail and did'nt see anything unsafe???
  21. these forums are for discussions, alot of folks are reluctent to offer "advice". When I respond to a post it's not advice but my personal experience. On that note... I would look up at the plane when I felt that feeling of potato chipping and go limp. Hey it worked for me. I used to get a kick out of people saying "relax". when I was on AFF. My body is screaming to survive, then the mind kicks in and says "yup this works". You will do a jump one day and "bingo" your confidence level will go way up. Just don't respect for this sport and you will be fine.
  22. ***I leave the step my heart stops because I think I forgot my student LMAO
