Is this good? How dumb am I that I don't know what a HP-UX is? You are HP-UX. You're still strong despite the passage of time. Though few understand you, those who do love you deeply and appreciate you.

It hurts because in freefall you hit the sharp pointy end of rain drops first. Seriously, have you ever ridden a motorcycle in the rain? Not fun!

Buy coach jumps or first canopy?
StevePhelps replied to windcatcher's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sarah: Many of the coaches at SDA will jump with you for $0 or at the most a slot. I wish I could jump for $0 but you know my main job is having a hard time paying me -- but I'd do a coach jump anytime for a slot and I'll throw the video and stills for free. BTW I said I do one video/stills jump for free and that offer still stands. -
Do you believe in miracles and have you ever had one happen to you?
StevePhelps replied to Muenkel's topic in The Bonfire
Yes, I do. In 1984 I lived in Alaska. It was bad weather one day and my wife had borrowed her dad's "land yacht" buick as our Blazer was in the shop. She put the kids by the garage door, Rashelle 5, Dustin 2 and Drew 1 and only crawling) She couldn't park the Buick in the garage (it was too long). She told the kids to stay there and she would drive the car into the garage. As she drove in she saw the door cracked and Dustin peeking out. She thought well, at least he's in the house. She felt the car starting to drive over something. Initially she thought it was a pile of clothes she had left on the garage floor for the laundry. Then a sick feeling hit her ... she was driving over her baby. Sure enough Drew crawled out through the cracked door and there he was laying there with tire tracks across him, crying. She gathered the kids up and cradled Drew in her arms as she drove to the hospital. I was told on the phone she had driven over Drew and killed him. You can imagine my horror!! When I arrived to the emergency room the nurse said "He's all right". Yeah, sure ... SHOW ME!! There was Drew, Sherry, the Doctor, and his sleeper with tire tracks over them. All Drew had on his body was a few indentations of rocks (Alaska puts small gravel and salt on the roads) from the tires. The Doctor said he's had no internal injuries, but he would most likely be bruised and sore. He never was sore and had no bruises! My wife wrote and published an article for a Christian magazine about this experience called, "The buick, the baby and the angel" You may not believe, but I SURE DO!! -
No, he's not scared. Mel's got 5k jumps and has owned a DZ or two. He is also an AFF instructor. Can't say why he throws so prematurely.
-
Yes, he is -- a common complaint among many staff here -- to me personally, it doesn't matter. As far as tandem's face ... when he starts paying me, I'll make sure he is seen too. Actually, I have severalfrom this exit that show both faces real well, I just like her expression in this still the best.

exits are my favorite shot -- hard to do right from a cessna at times, but you gotta try. I love this tandem's expression -- you can hear her screaming on the video.

Without the women, this thing won't be close

Ya think? How about a few billion $??? -
1) Anybody use one? 2) pros and cons 3) How does that sucker stay on and not blow up like a shirt would?? Sorry if the questions are dumb, but no one has ever used one at my small DZ.
-
Just curious then, how do you do that ... by lowering standard? Kerry says he wants to double special forces. (does he mean Special Operational Forces or Special Forces -- good lord if he wants to be commander in chief, I hope he knows the difference) If he means SF -- how will he do that??? Again, lower the standard? BTW I was in 5th Special Forces from 1977 -1980.

Yep, Reagan was an actor -- remember him? He tore down the wall that divided your country for 40+ years! -
I've read it, but I don't think I'm alone in thinking it is BS to pay more money for a song I purchased to put on a CD. Let's say I'm demonstrating civil disobedience on a stupid law. I have copyright work (as an illustrator) out and ifsome church or business wants to copy and put what they paid for (in a book or CD) on a flyer or some trinket -- I could not care less.

I use an MP3 player for mixing tandem videos on the spot and Premiere for web video mixing -- all legit as far as I know.
-
The reason I want to convert to MP3 is I use an MP3 player for mixing tandem videos. I'll try the Premiere -- I have 6.0 -- How do you do this on Premiere?
-
I need help trying to convert WMA to MP3s. On the "new" Napster I can get songs (for $.99) that I don't have in my inventory for tandems like the 73 year old lady that wanted "Come Fly With Me" by Frank Sinatra (pretty cool when you think about it). But it comes as a WMA not a MP3 as it use to. I purchased a converter but it says it can't do it because it is "protected". Any ideas how to convert or to download MP3s.

As with most things in skydiving, it can be "safe" or dangerous depending on who is doing it (like swooping) Safe is not something I would use to describe it, but neither would I describe swooping as "safe". Heck, I wouldn't describe skydiving as "safe" IMHO -- If the TI is okay with it and the student has been briefed -- have fun!

U.S. Army Unit in Iraq Refuses Risky Mission
StevePhelps replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
'Amber McClenny left this message on her mother's answering machine. "Hi Mom, this is Amber. This is a real, real big emergency. I need you to contact someone. I mean raise pure hell. We yesterday, we refused to go on a convoy to Taji. That is above Baghdad. We had broken down trucks, non-armored vehicles and we were carrying contaminated fuel. They are holding us against our will. We are now prisoners." ----------------------------------------------------------- THIS IS A BAD SIGN! ABOUT OUR MILITARY -- Geesh! Calling momma???? Man, has this Army changed since when I was in! -
I got $266 -- for mine -- some new ones with accessories went for $350. I bought a Sony HC 20 for $450 the day it did it again and finished the videos with them that day. Here is the ebay item. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=3840106389&ssPageName=STRK:MESO:IT
