  1. My goal is to have both PARCHUTIST & SKYDIVER run their own unique DZ comic that will in turn point people back to the website. I will wait for a month or so before I contact them to see what the readership and page hits. I think most skydivers will like it -- as an inside look to DZ humor.
  2. Well, she is up! Check her debut out! DZ comic Let me know what you think. It will post MWF for now and hopefully Mon-Fri soon.
  3. Ditto to Chuck & Iwan. I shoot digital stills so I usually get about 40-50 shots per jump.
  4. After turning 50 last month I appreciate the choice of being 41-50 over 50-60.
  5. Been there, done that (filming an AFF student) but I wouldn't call it "Funny Jump"
  6. mine came with the quick release, but I suspect you can get a thin sheet at a Hobby Lobby (or craft store) Not too thick ... 1/8th inch maybe. Look for some that has a sticky side. Place that on the helmet. Screw the camera on top of it and the cork will help keep it steady. Good luck!
  7. So many of my ideas have less to do with skydiving per se, but more on the life at the DZ (which to me is a lot funnier) I don't want to do canned skydiving jokes. If you can relate to the DZ atmosphere humor at the DZ would you guys still read it?
  8. I saw one with a piece of milled aluminum to raise the camera. Works nice and is light.
  9. I got the prototype up now. You can check it out. Does anyone know a little php code?
  10. The plan is to launch Version 1.0 on FEBRUARY 7th with MWF cartoons... I may go to Mon - Fri cartoons. Makes no sense to have Sat or Sun as everyone will be at the DZ. There will be updates until that time. Please save as favorite and check often. Thanks for your support!
  11. Like Dan said, I sell the stills to the tandems 90% of the time for $20. My take per jump goes from $25 to $45. They see the stills right then and there. I can load onto a disk that costs me less than a $1. Great profit!
  12. I hope to have a teaser comic up soon. I need help withthe website as I'm trying to design it with php But what does "CTRL+D" mean?
  13. what about the manifestbitch? We know they are there, but do we have to draw attention to them?
  14. Pretty good chances a 250# guy named "Brew Dawg" will surface.
  15. We have one at DZ comic. He's young, but not as young as he looks. He looks 12. He is 25 or so. His name is "Doogie"
  16. Got one -- His name is Slammer -- he's a bulldog. I scan into Corel -- Wish I knew Photoshop better. I use both PNG and JPG. I hope to have a teaser cartoon and website up very soon.
  17. Somewhat -- All characters besides Dink, Zeus & Rooster are modeled after someone I jump with but they'll end up with their personalities separate from their inspiration. Dink, Zeus & Rooster are obviously stereotypes.
  18. The desire is to keep it free and pay for itself with advertisers like PvP Hey, bandwidth costs!
  19. At least Dink is one of the MAIN characters!
  20. Oh, DEFINITELY!! I got the idea in my head already! Plus should be interesting when the small DZ crew go to bigger boogies and WFF, tunnels and stuff.
  21. Hopefully February -- with a few teasers prior to that.
  22. I went with DINK & ZEUS. Check out other thread for profiles. clicky
  23. Thanks for all your help in my new creation "DZ" a comic stip centered around the life at a small Cessna DZ. DZ comic I hope to have it up and running in February. Take a look at the profiles. Would you read it?
  24. All of Lew's plus ... * Having your lens ripped off by a riser * Gleeking your lens with snot when you climb out so now you have this nice smudge dead center on the camera ( now I blow my nose on jump run!) * biffing on a no wind day and roll on top of your camera * Having the "nite switch" button come on (internally) and ruining the first video of a busy day. * Running into town and buying a new video camera to finish the rest of the day since you already screwed up the first two (with the nite switch) * weighing 230lbs w/o gear and flying video for a 140lb tandem master and his 95lb student! "Come on wings, don't fail me now!" *crawling over a TM in a cessna who likes to launch in a sit position from where I typically sit * landing 6 miles off because you trusted a birdman with his spot. (nice pix anyway, Mike!) *printing your cards, VHS labels, CD Labels, DVD labels -- all at your own cost * making leads for your tapes. *finding music your tandem student wants online -- paying .99 cents for it -- charging them nada
