Does it matter which side the camera is mounted on?
StevePhelps replied to StevePhelps's topic in Photography and Video
Does it matter which side a camera is mounted on? I have a new Sony TRV 19 and it will fit better on my RIGHT ear. Previously I had the camera on LEFT. I can't remeber ever seeing anybody with it on their right. I guess it could have a better chance for a riser slap as I look back to see myself throw the pilot chute. Any comments? -
Hey bigun, Doc Phelps here (ODA 552 Co B 2nd BN 5th SFG) Ya gonna be at the King Air in Skiatook on the 22nd(After Dale's record attempt on the 21st? Jumping in 1977 gave me the kohoonies to do just about anything. Who knows why I took so long to get back in when I ets in '80. I was parasailing in Cancun, when I landed my wife said, "Brings back memories, huh?" I started AFF the next month! See ya the DZ

Christian Ministry to Skydivers
StevePhelps replied to StevePhelps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree -- personally I believe the vein of thought on the original question has played out. I received my input and I will contemplate on what to do next. I appreciate all those who participated, especially those who had constructive ideas (like water to drink and "don't preach" or "hand out tracts outside the tent". I even appreciated those who said "Stay the hell away from my DZ!" On to better topics and things -- Blue skies and calm winds in OK today -- I'm outta here! -
How did you get involved into skydiving?

I agree this is a thread for a another forum, but since you posted here... You are true in what you said (quoted) above, although I disagree with your term "barbarians". That is why Jesus gave us the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). He told us to go and tell the world about him. The problem is too many do not follow the Apostle Peter's admonishment to "... in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3"125 (NIV) Too many Christians leave out the gentleness and respect. -

P.S. I wish I could believe in a God of some kind, it would make my life a lot easier(sometimes). Feel free to call me or e-mail anytime (IF you ever want to) -- it'd be a fun discussion. -
The NFL's Jacksonville Jaquars colors are Black, Jade, and yellow (gold) they look good. LOL!

Maybe its like golf ... If you are a liar, you MAY lie about golf. If you lie about golf, you WILL lie about life. (in my best Seinfeld voice ... I'm not a golfer, not that there is anything wrong with that!)

I apologize for not knowing how to "quote" someone -- Reread the post and you will see I was quoting someone who posted -- I'll figure this thing out one day! LOL! -

Threatened? You're kidding me right? I'm hardly the "threatened type". Offended? Son, I fought for that man's freedom -- however offensive it may be to some, to me ... free country! Ain't it grand? -

QUOTE > Happens at my church all the time. No problem. Again, this would be a place for people to go if they want or avoid if they prefer that -- no chasing people down preaching at them. You just gotta see a similar ministry at biker rallies to know what I mean. Believe me, there is nothing that happens at \skydive boogies that doesn't happen at biker rallies. Everyuone is free to do what they chose -- Ain't this a great country! -

Well, it was interesting to see the views. About what I expected I might add. I hope those who objected would stop by and say hi, but if not ... no problem. Its hard to convey what I desire to do in a few short sentences. Going around preaching is not it. Its been my experience that many seek me out at DZs because they hear I'm a pastor (most don't believe it -- could it be the tattoos or I was once a Green Beret?) they come to me to talk about issues. Yeah, we're skydiving and that is why we're at the DZ, but every now and then other questions come up -- I'm there for them. I wouldn't want anyone preaching to me so I don't do that to others. BTW no kin to Fred Phelps! Thanks God! -

Somehow, I fail to see where I'd be in "competition" . I simply want a ministry there IF someone desires it. Although I pastor a church (theROCKchurch) in Tulsa, i'm not there to "preach" to anyone. Hope to see you at the boogies. Blue Skies Steve -
Christian Ministry to Skydivers
StevePhelps replied to StevePhelps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm interested in starting a ministry to skydivers at boogies similar to what Tribe of Judah does at Biker Rallies. I know there is a Christian Skydivers Association, but I'm not looking for a club for Christian skydivers, rather I desire to have a minsitry of "presence" at Boogies. A real, non-judgmental, "where there if you ever need us" type of ministry. In other words a tent with free literature and free bibles, an ear to listen and maybe a short 2-30 minute service on Sundays. Anybody think this is a bad idea or a good idea? Blue ones ~ Steve
