    Reminds me of way back when ... I was at Wrightsville Beach in NC. This was shortly after Jaws (1977 maybe?) My wife and I were in the water and we both saw a dorsal fin. We looked at each other and both of us said, "You see that?" We lookedaround and EVERYONE else was out of the water except us. Don't know for sure, but my best guess says it was a dolphin. Phew! Took a while for our hearts to stop racing!

    There's a guy at Skydive Dallas (dang if his name doesn't escape me, but others will know) who uses a beach ball in a swimming pool and swears he will have you sitting and dock after one lesson in the pool with him

    One reserve ride. I dropped the cutaway handle -- landed with D ring and everything else landed nearby (within walking distance)

    My GUESS is TIMING ... When the chicks said it we were either on the verge of starting the war on just had (I'm old -- my memory fails me) -- Now, even though we are technically still at war -- the American people have moved on with their concerns (right or worng) Just my $0.02 worth.

    I have bench pressed 360# when I was lifting every day ... today? I MIGHT get up 300#, but hey, I'm almost 50! NOt bad for a "has been"!

    I love to watch new students and their excitement... Whether you like it or not that is what you must do to work with Pre A jumpers. So, I go it!

    Relax -- know the rig well, so you can spot gigs, relax, have fun and relax. Did I say relax? On my first eval jump I was so tense, I passed but failed to remember the signals I gave to the "student". I was much more relaxed on the second jump and it went real smooth. RELAX! HAVE FUN!

    Couldn't have these in my particular SF unit back when I was active. (didn't want to be able to identify us as Americans, let alone American soldiers). But now it's okay. Colors are fading, but it is still pretty cool.

    Combat gear, Keith -- huh? Hard to imagine that many jumpers getting out with rucks between their legs and no one (but the major) getting injured (ESPECIALLY broken legs with a ruck still strapped between them!) (You didn't say anything about deploying the ruck to its lowering line, which if my memory serves me correct it was to be done at 200' or no lower than tree top level). The few severe injuries I tended to on jumps as an SF medic was guys landing with rucks. Your stick was @#$% lucky! Doc Phelps

    One simple rule at our small DZ. We tell all of the students to ask a yellow shirt staff person for advice. They will give it (if qualified) or refer to someone else. You'd be surprised at some of the "advice" I've heard gieven before that rule was instated.

    Why not? The odds you are left with are what you actually have right now. One life to live -- what are you going to do with it? I love to skydive!

    hook knife, Special Forces coin (in case I get challenged) rubber bands (so I don't have to go dig in my bag when I pack) pull up cord (see rubber bands) Never used the hook knife, been coin checked once, and use the pull up and rubber bands all the time. Oh, yeah, I keep extra gaffers tape on my camera helmet.

    I have to agree with Aggie. The preemie is just life ... As far as "no one" coming, yeah, I'd be pissed, but you said two came, one friend, one "coerced" How many should come? Just curious.
