  1. David won't remember me, but I sure do remember him. A few summers back I was visiting SDD and making some FF jumps. I made nine that day. Eight of them solo. At the end of the day David noticed I'd been around all day doing solos. He offered to jump with me and give a coaching lesson on FF. He did so at his own cost. Then he dubbed over his footage onto my camera. David, I sucked back then, but I'm a lot better now (thanks to guys like you). I fly video for our DZ. I appreciated your generosity that went beyond the call of duty. I have made it my mission to give back to young flyers and I often give them shots at no cost. The reason? Following the example you gave me. Now does tha mean I must give them all away? I hope not. I depend on this for my livelyhood too. Your price was more than fair. As I said, I bet you don't even remember me ... but I remember you ... thanks!
  2. Dang! D license with ONE jump! Must have been a #$%&*@ of a jump!! Devil jumper 666 (head down 999)
  3. Offended??? You must be very easily offended.
  4. Chuck: What video camera do you have?
  5. Forget the MINDWARP -- put it on Ebay -- and use the money to help buy a FTP or at least an OPTIC. You won't be sorry you did.
  6. Uh, beer will be at my DZ. You're welcome to join us!
  7. Thanks. Sue said she has one ready for the May issue. If people comment to her I'm sure she'll see the value in running every month. Thanks for reading.
  8. Jumped video on a tandem where the lady said she was a past "Mrs. America" She signed my log book as "MRS. AMERICA". She was certainly pretty enough to be one, but I searched all over the internet and never found her listed in either Miss America or Mrs. America.
  9. My best suggestion is talk to the rigger at your local DZ. They will take care of you, and help you find the appropiat gear. I know mine did.
  10. Hey guys, SKYDIVING magazine is running their own special color DZ comic made especially for them. It is on page five (5) of the April 2005 issue. You won't see that DZ cartoon anywhere else. If you like it -- let Sue know.
  11. That may depend on how your video concession works at your DZ. At our small two cessna DZ, the DZO allows me to charge and keep whatever I want for stills. I get $25 for each video, and as of date I sell a disk of stills to the student for an additional $20. About 90% of the students want the stills (they see them when we land). So in my book I get $45 a video jump instead of the normal $25. Doesn't take long to pay for itself that way. Good luck, be safe and have fun!
  12. Okay, funny but true story. In the early 80s I was recently out of the Green Berets and attending my brother's church. In walked three uniformed guys (no weapons). They said they were part of a large group of people taking over the state and organized religion would be outlawed. I thought it was all bogus and sounded like something my brother (the pastor) would do to prove a point. But my dad and another older gentleman were getting upset. My dad had heart problems. Then one of them slapped my brother. Joke or not, illustration or not, I dove accross the pew and took out two of them. While wrestling with them on the ground my brother and the guys were saying in veiled whispers "Steve, Steve, it's okay! It's all a set up!" I guess I ruined their "illustration" Next time you think that might be a good way to illustrate a point, remember about 10% of SFers are believers,
  13. I have a Sony HC20 and I'm very satisfied with it, but since my edits are linear (I shoot only what I want to see on tape) I though of purchasing a PC109 that I "believe" has built in fades. This would make my video better without having to edit a bunch with Premiere or any other program I have. In your OPNION do you think it is worth switching to a PC109 when I have a good working HC20?
  14. probably has - -I don't frequent BONFIRE very much. /limping back to the photog forum/
  15. I need a favor !! Our friend has a puppy he's giving away (FREE!). It's a Dachshund, it's house broken, and it's great with kids. He's giving it away because his wife says the dog 'stares' at her, and that gives her the 'Heebie Jeebies'. If you're interested, or know someone who is, let me know. to see a picture of the dog. go here: www.dzcomic.com/heebiejeebies.jpg
  16. Well, I'm not sure what to do. My son the geek, says I need a new computer. He says partioning the HD would not be an answer to my current situation. Another HD maybe. I don't know the type of video card as it came with the computer and I don't have that info any more. I also no longer have a windows 2000 disk if I wanted o go back. Right now I guess I'm stuck until I can buy a bigger computer. Dang! I hate being so computer illiterate.
  17. It says: READ: 25mb/s WRITE: 14mb/s Now what?
  18. JP, you kill me! I wish I knew of a way to put that in a comic strip for DZ!
  19. Well, I got the "enditall" program. I even printed the project back as an avi fil. Ended all unnecessary programs but still got same problem. I guess I'll try the partioning solution. I'll wait until my "geek" son can help as I'm clueless on how to do that. BTW. I have 6.0 and I recently changed from Windows 2000 to XP. Could XP be any of the problem?
  20. I'm not sure what is going on here. Previously I've not had any problem printing to tape on my computer. But now when I do, I keep getting blank (blue screen) portions. The local audio electronics guys said to defrag my computer. That made sense, but even after defragging it I get the same results no matter what size file it is. (even for a simple 40 second unedited clip) I know my system needs upgrading (Pentium 2, 40 gig hardive (13 gig available) 512 RAM, but it was able to do it until recently. Any ideas?
  21. I was trying to edit, it but deleted instead -- funny, but sometimes others want to screw ya because they didn't get what you got. Not referring to your post -- just people in general. I suppose someone could read this and look into it and determine my claim was wrong. That would be a bummer as I told the agent EXACTLY what I do and how it coud potentially go down. ie. cut away, hit, dropped, etc.
  22. State Farm replaced my digital Rebel that was whacked on a tandem jump Saturday. I'll have my new Rebel today (Thursday) GREAT service. FYI: It was a separate rider on my home owner's policy - $3000 worth of equipment for $40 a year -- $0 deductable!
