Got my new Digital Rebel! Need help w/ settings
StevePhelps replied to StevePhelps's topic in Photography and Video
I did that (sport/auto) Saturday for nine tandem videos -- whew, I'm tired, and they were all great!!! The last jump wa sundet or past and I switched to night/auto and it was great too! I LOVE this camera!! I sold the digital stills to 8 of the 9 tandems! In one day I have earned over 1/3 the cost of the Rebel! -

I just got a new Canon Digital Rebel. I did a search for settings but only found film settings. Any of you flyers have favorite settings for flying a DIGITAL Rebel on tandem jumps? -

State Farm will give me a separate policy from my Home owners to cover $2500 worth of camera equipment for $40 a year. That is is with $0 deductable! It was considered a business policy since I make money (yeah, right) as a freefall videographer. -
The techies at Ultimate Electronics where I bought the camera say it is the N.S. as well, But the switch is okay -- They "figure" the wind may have caused it?? Whuffos answer to all camera problems when skydiving. However, they may be right, but how do I fix? Gaffers tape? They don't make a condom to fit the TRV 19. Their main man thinks it was a fluke. Easy to say when you aren't the one charging someone. They have a PC 101 for $750 -- Should I buy it?

The outer switch would be impossible to turn on/off without knowing. It was definetly off --- but when checking the inner menu I discovered the N.S. was clicked "on" -- I have no clue how THAT happened!! I put it on "off" and I will hope for the best Saturday. Most likely will make a test jump early that AM

well, actually, if I switch it to night video then it is green, but as you can see from my video -- the green went TOTALLY green, not just slightly green as it does when filmed with night video switch on.
-
It "feels" real solid - switch -- The problem is I can't get it to repeat (the green image) with videos I've taken on the ground.
-
Thanks -- I'll take it in tomorrow, but what about this weekend?? We have 15 tandems!!!

Here is7 seconds of video that shows it better than a frame grab. http://www.skydivevideo.info/green.wmv

Help! I just did a tandem video tonight and about pull time the video turned green! Like a white out, but green. It stayed green during the filming of my descent.. I film a 360 before I shut it off. When I turned in on for the landing it was okay but went green again as they landed. I filmed a few seconds of other footage over the green part to see if it was the tape. That footage was fine. It has to be the camera (Sony TRV 19) Any clues??? I need a camera for this weekend -- I may have to buy another one. Many of Aultimate Electronics' cameras are on sale.. What would be a good one?

Thinking of you, and praying for you as well.

Any thoughts on this being legit and reputable? clicky -
What is needed for a digital camera to be able to work with a bite switch? A lanc? Is there other camera's you might recommend besides the Canon Rebel?

I was 22 in 1977 when I first tasted the sky courtesy of Us Army Special Forces. After getting out of the army and having 4 kids, I laid off until they were grown. I was 46 (2001). THAT WAS WAY TOO LONG OF A DEPARTURE!! But I've been trying to make up for lost time. edited because my punctuation sucks

skydiving is full of surprises!

Pentium 3, 40 gig HD - 512 RAM not sure on the processor

Gonna use that one -- I occasionally tell the tandem (after they have hooked up) that our TM is the only narcoleptic TM I've ever jumped video for. Then they hear snoring behind them.

through monitor -- Premiere 6
-
I did a search here and didn't find anything exactly like my problem. Premiere seems to play the video fast for no reason. Often by a transition, but at times just when a AVI file is played. Any ideas???
-
If Adobe pro is like Adobe Premiere you can >capture frame > of your AVI file of the jump and then on Adobe Photo go to filter > video > deinterlace > even You can get a nice still that way.

C23:00 errors, raindrop icons, etc...

I had a riser slap knock off a wide angle lense (actually ENTIRE lens) I was forced to sell on Ebay and begin again. -
This is what I do on all tandem videos, might work here if you edit out the break at the landing and then put it in the complete jump at the end. 1) PROMO (1 1/2 minutes) 2) PREP BEFORE JUMP 3) AIRPLANE SHOTS 4) JUMP WITH MUSIC (edited -- TAKE OUT MY OPENING ETC.) 5) LANDING 6) SLOW MO OF JUMP WITH MORE MUSIC 7) COMPLETE JUMP FROM DOOR OPENING TO END OF TAPE W/O EDITING 8) CLOSING CREDITS

Something I downloaded a while back puts folders in my favorite Places. The folders are: -autos -business & home offices -dating -fitness -sports etc. Any idea how to PERMANTLY get rid of what ever is loading them when I reboot? -

actually, all it requires is anything to depress the click portion. I put a small piece of metal (end of old ear piece for cell phone) in and covered with small plastic click end of a ball point pen. Works and looks like the original. Move over McGiver!
