  1. Truth is, I feel a lot of profanity is a sure sign that one lacks the intellect to express themselves properly with using one word and its derivitives as nouns, adjectives, verbs and adverbs. But on the other hand I do remember hoping the video camera on my head was not recording me when I had a slammer, after the packer packed my rig and didn't uncollapse the slider.
  2. Are you saying they DO require rendering before you could export to tape, though?
  3. Is there a version of ADOBE PREMIERE that allows tranitions in the A/B line WITHOUT rendering? I have 6.0 and you have to render. Someone said they believed 6.5, 7, PRO or some other version automatically rendered the transitions of video on the A/B lines. Anybody know?
  4. I prefer the NLE myself, plus we don't have a linear mixing board. It takes us about 25-30 minutes to make a complete digital DVD with all the the thrills only a NLE system can give you. The formula ... SIMPLIFY. 1-2 mintues intro 2-3 minutes jump (includes right before door to final shot of canopy going up) 1-2 minutes landing Add in slow mo and stills along with DZ promo and credits you a have a complete digital video in aabout 20-30 minutes. Works for us in a small single Cessna DZ
  5. I had about 250+ with 50+ camera fun jumps before I jumped tandems for pay. I lurked a few tandems that were getting veideo and jumped video on several no video tandems. When the DZO and customers saw my videos, the customers bought them, and I was put in the rotation. After a few months I made chief videographer. (big fish in small pond)
  6. Well first you have to get the DVD burner to see the image on screen (whether rendered or not I assume) Right now I can't get any image to come up on the TV (hooked up to the DVD burner). My DVD burner is capable, as I record from the camera via firewire all the time. I'm just trying to hook up so it will record from Premiere.
  7. That's what I thought too, but although I can play out to my camera via firewire, it won't play to the DVD burner via firewire. Anybody out there actually do this?
  8. I have Adober Premiere 6.0. Anybody know if it can export straight to external DVD burner using the firewire? If it can ... how?
  9. One of the best customer services out there! Dick stands by his work!
  10. No, but I have my resource now, thanks everyone.
  11. Me too! One day I'll publish my "once in a lifetime shot" I got of George Bush on a tandem with John Majors, and Anna Nicole Smith lurking ...
  12. Thanks, Jarno. By the way, nice website! (airrebels.com)
  13. So why worry about erasing? If it's an export to tape for a final, you shouldn't have any timecode issues, just burn over the previous final. Because, once or twice --- in several hundred, I've had a glitch where the previous tape showed through. PLUS, I not only shoot video for my DZ but also edit. One videographer reuses tapes on every jump -- saves nothing. That is HIS choice not mine. Again, once or twice I get a glitch that shows the previous tape -- I thought I'd help his quality of video too.
  14. Okay, here is what I do ... I use original new tapes on all paying videos (tandem,AFF, coach, etc), BUT I edit on a computer and "export to tape" the final product. Yes, tapes are cheap if bought in bulk, which I do, but why not reuse the tapes for the "export to tape" procedure? The other suggestion -- taping with lens cover on, is too much of a waste of time and subjects the heads to more use. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ There are tape erasers out there -- I simply wanted to know if you guys found a decently priced used one any where.
  15. I was wondering, is there a good DV tape eraser (tape deguasser?) out there at an affordable price that will erase DV tapes? I did a Google search and not much help was received.
  16. What type of video? Freeflying? (most use side mounts cameras) tandem? (many prefer top mounts with still capabilities) MOST everyone uses SONY camcorders. They are more airworthy than many other popular brands, like JVC, Panasonic, etc. Sony has a "flavor of the month" quite often so what many of us use is "old stuff" in a short period of time. The good news about that is you can find Sony HC 40s on Ebay real cheap. If you are really serious, do as advised and search the photog forum. When I first started filming tandem I went and read most posts from the beginning. I found a lot of good stuff as I was reading. Good luck, be safe!
  17. I gotta ask, why would anybody record 15 minutes of video for a tandem or AFF? I shoot 4-5 minutes (1 - 1:30 prejump interview) 2 minutes plane and out the door (1-2 minutes landing and post interview.) With that we turn out an eight (8) minute video with slow motion and stills added along with the music and credits. Are you sure you need 15 minutes of footage?
  18. Oh, gawd is he telling that "there I was no, @#$%, story" again?!
  19. On my HC 20 I use the "mountain" focus. Everything is ALWAYS in focus. Love it!
  20. I think your photos are VERY artistic! I bet they will be a big hit around the DZs you visit. Is your purpose to sell the pictures to the jumpers or to other outlets?
  21. Bonehead's --retailed about $170 http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/cammount.htm
  22. I like my gold memeber on my FTN very much!
  23. On my first few camera mounts I "engineered" mounts, using aircraft aluminum and later modifying a D-box, built for a different camera that I purchased one Ebay ... cheap. However, While all the above saved me some $, I've never been as happy as I am now with my Bonehead D-box. The HC20 just slides in like a glove and looks a lot more professional as well. When you can afford it -- buy the D-box for the camera. You'll be glad yoiu did .. I was sure was!
  24. As said earlier -- for expressions like this.
