  1. Most people do a strapectomy. Where the strap is sewn together, pull apart and cut the threads with an exacto knife, then you can simply pull the strap out without cutting the strap. Later if you desire to put it vack you could although it may be hard to to resew in that tight of a place, (but you could easily tack it)
  2. Yep, I got one -- wanna buy it? I'd sen you a picture or tell you the brand, but I have it at the DZ. If you are interested, PM me. They run about $100 on Ebay.
  3. A HP canopy at 37 skydives??? Why the rush? Was it worth it?
  4. I've had two chows. Back in the late 70s I had a red chow that I took off an SF buddy in the Army. The chow was agressive to non-family members and could no longer live on base. So, I took him home and he was fine with me, the wife and her two chihuahuas, but anybody else ... look out. I had a black chow from 1989 to 1999. He was very laid back for chows. Our neighbor was a dog catcher and she was scared of him just because of the breed tendancies. My thoughgts are if you get a puppy that has NOT come from a puppy farm and socialize him early he should be okay. Just remember, they tend to a be a one man/family dog.
  5. Anybody know if there is a setting on Adobe Premiere 6.0 that you can simply create the same transition in every video A video / B transition? Or do you have to add the transition at every transition break individually?
  6. In THIS is a reply about DZ comic??? I'm losing touch!
  7. I hope to do more in the Fall/Winter when our DZ slows down a bit. I have another strip (NEIGHBORS) syndicated for mobile phone distribution. I'm clueless on what iut is about, but here is the link: http://www.fulltiltmobile.com/ftm05/ DZ comic lovers, hang in there! I'll be back!
  8. I added DVDs this Spring and have not had one returned to me (150 DVDs). I use Sony +R
  9. What JD said. I have 2-3 cards with me at all times.
  10. Most of my jumps are tandem and AFF videos. I love it! I like fun jumps and all but you can't beat jumping with people who are experiencing a skydive for the first time. their expressions are priceless. The bonus is I make money doing it, and I get a creative outlet in making the videos for my artistic expressions.
  11. All Harleys are not equal - THAT is for sure. I liked my Dyna, but I love the Fat Boy!
  12. ya gotta be kidding?? Wouldn't be caught dead on one ... no offense.
  13. Now, THAT is a nice sportser!
  14. Same problem here, so I put a locker in the video room and keep my gear there. I take the cameras out to the DZ in a pelican box strapped on the Harley. I hope the vibration doesn't ruin them.
  15. I lived in Seattle from 90-95. My buddy and I were looking at Harleys there in 2000 while I was visiting. He bought the FB. I told him IF he ever sold it I wanted first dibs. He called me last month and said he was moving to Montana and selling the Fat Boy. I sold my Dyna and bought the FB. I had it shipped down.
  16. Well, I'm old (50) but not much gray ... yet. Attached are couple of pictures the marble paint and the old and gray BTW, I didn't trade up -- I sold the 92 and bought the 93.
  17. ... and bought another one. I sold my '92 Dyna and bought a '93 Fat Boy. BTW, the 92 had 83,000 miles on it -- I put most of them on it. The '93 has 22,000 miles. How did I do?
  18. I wear Gatorz (radiators) and love them. I can use them with helmet and without. I do have a craokey to help hold them on. BUT, know this ... I bought a smaller style (bat ray, I think) and while looking extremely cool, they allowed more air on my eyes and being a ozone alert day with a lot of brush fires, my eyes were burning. I switched back to my Gatorz radiators and no more tears. So, I suggest Radiators, IMHO.
  19. I agree, the herc shot and the first flag shot are awesome!! VERY artistic! Way to go man!
  20. I'm 225lbs BEFORE gear and currently jump a Sabre 190 and a Sabre2 190 and I occaisionally borrow a Sabre 170 (I like it a lot). As you can see by my profile I have about 750 jumps. The Sabre 190 is on its last legs, and I'm THINKING about a new canopy. I'm NOT a hot shot canopy flyer -- actually, I'm quite conservative. My main priorities are SOFT openings. Any suggestions?
  21. It was heavy at first. I guess you get use to it.
  22. Flat Top Narrow, Sony HC20, with Bonehead D Box, Digital Rebel, and oh yeah, cam eye 2, tongue switch, and ring site -- total weight: 6 lbs and 10 ounces.
  23. I'm new to the sport, but it sounds like you're letting the need to make more loads sacrifice your saftey. Whether it's your job or not, you don't *NEED* to make the next load. You listed yourself two choices, and mentioned that you chose wrong - implying that you should have gone with the canopy that was smaller than what you were used to. You had a third choice, and that was to repack and jump your own rig on the next load. If your job requires you to make back to backs, maybe you should think about saving for another rig. How much did you make durring that single jump that it was worth raising your risk of injury? Yes, it is obvious you are new to the sport. In what post did I say I used a smaller canopy? I DO have TWO rigs, BOTH are Sabre 190s. My packers are jumpers with 4,000 3,000 & 5,000 jumps. I trust them to pack the ENTIRE rig. At small DZs we often help each other out when we need to -- such as packing for a vidiot when he is the only one available and there are a lot of tandems to get done before sunset. Having people with 1,000s of jumps and 15 years experience pack your entire rig is hardly a safety issue. Its done everyday -- even at your DZ, Skydive Chicago, at least with student rigs. We all can't jump at big DZs. /rant
  24. Okay, I think what we have seen here is there are a LOT more varibles besides #s and time in sport. A guy with 1000 hop n pops so he can swoop is less experienced that someone with less #s and less time in sport that has been doing "tall falls" that include RW, freefly, video or another disciplines such as being an instructor. Simply put, you never know where a person is if you simply go by #s and or time in sport alone.
