open corners

thanks Tom for the quick, informative reply! one more question... Do most manufacturers offer retrofits to the containers they produce to make them open corners? Is this something I can have a local rigger do or am I best off contacting the manufacturer and having them do this? Thanks! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

open corners

I know its a good idea to have open corners for WS base rigs, but if you plan to make a lot of BASE jumps where you will be opening in a max track do you think its a good idea to look into open corners? That said, is it a good idea to open in a max track at all, in your opinion? Thanks! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

4. its both! A calculated risk is inherently risky. Skydiving is inherently risky. It comes with the territory. I lot of people like to fool themselves by saying things like, "skydiving is safer than the drive on the highway to get there". I think thats just trying to fool yourself. Skydiving carries a great risk (splatting into the ground upwards of 100mph). Of course the return is very great. That's why people do it. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

6. congrats bikerbabe. Hopefully I'll get to jump out there one day. Have fun!
7. hey now, while it may not be a huge adrenaline rush landing a nice bass is a great feeling. Plus, I've had dreams about fishing beautiful mountain streams on a fly rod and they almost rival my flying dreams. Not quite though! p.s. I do not wear a helmet during fishing so don't ask! hehe --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
8. oh my, condolences. At the very least she was part of some (from what it sounds like) awesome last skydives. I'm very sorry to hear this. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
9. Is there anyway to remove the slider and the PC and instead hook up going off the bridle a peice of breakcord static lined to the airplane so that when you jump out it immediately pulls the pin and then pulls the locking stows off and then breaks off leaving you with an open canopy and simply a bridle where you would have a bridle/collapse PC. I am aware of the design to remove the PC/slider while youre under canopy that PD is researching, but wouldnt this be a lot simpler? Just a thought, many people have probably had it before! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
10. write up a review, for some reason I see a cobalt in my distant swooping future. I'd be curious to see what you think about it.
11. nice pics, i liked the under the bridge one, the video of that would be tight. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

13. I tried a mindwarp on the other day and loved it. I'm trying to test as many helmets as possible so I can make a good decision. Im happy you like your helmet!
14. spiders are cool looking but them and centipedes (i guess flies and miskeeters) are the only things I'll kill on sight. I love em, but being stung or bit sucks. Fuck them little fuckers. Word up. There was a spider at out DZ that was huge that we'd throw live grasshoppers into his web and watch him suck the juice out of em and wrap them up. Crazy! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
15. if youre checking out DZs in NC might want to check out the skydiving place. Granted its the only DZ i've been to, but the people there ROCK! And the DZO is a great guy. I hear CSS is awesome too though, I need to make my way out there to check it out! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
16.
On a side note: In the history of human beings, has anybody ever efficiently max-tracked totally naked at terminal without a rig on? Perhaps that is one of the few remaining frontiers of true human flight….ha ha.
hehe, you first, bro! Great post man, I think I'm gonna have to read that once or twice more to really get everything you talked about. Rock on.
17. whew, in that case wear a low cut top and hit on as many guys as possible. You'll go far. [/kidding around] Again, seriously, be proud of yourself for doing this (skydiving). Don't worry if your friends drop away (theyre chicken!). You rock, sistah!! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
18. it helps if youre a girl, but even a guy can find people willing to help and work with them! But like I said it helps if you have boobs. Dressing up in drag would probably be your best bet. Seriously, you'll find the dropzone (mine at least, and probably yours) is a very friendly environment (most of the time) and welcomes new comers. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
19. I would recomend looking around for someone to help you out. Maybe someone has a 190 they dont often jump. Usually a beer or two is a fair trade for the chance to jump a canopy to see if it would be good for you. Rather than jumping from a 230 to a 150 you could step down slowly with friend's gear. Save some cash and maybe some femurs. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Tower Fun

damn blair, looks like you guys had fun. nice vid.
21. wouldnt if you had both end cells closed this just make for a softer opening? I can see how one closed would make for a diving opening until corrected. But both would just make the canopy open staged? Or am I wrong? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Smoking Pants?

I think someone spoke of sewing grommets onto the pants as holes. That's what I intend to do with my rain pants I have collecting mildew in my hiking backpack. I'm not that great a tracker, but after I make them I'll give ya'll a report! Will be good to see how a "newbie" can handle them. (strictly in a skydiving environment at this point ) --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

24. I was having trouble planing out a bit too high, it would get me freaked out and scared if i was maybe 4 feet off the ground when I was supposed to be stepping up to the ground with the finishing flare. Then someone told me just to ride it out and make sure whatever I did was SMOOTH and no releasing the toggles thinking that will help. Compensate smoothly and slowly and ride it out. Otherwise you get dropped like a sack of shit just what I've been told, hope it helps... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
