I wonder how many points a good 4 way team could turn on that dive? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

I'm curious to hear your average breakoff alti for a "normal" freeflying dive? Thanks. edited to add: I guess it depends a lot on how many people are on the jump, so if you feel like you want to, go ahead and state how your alti for breakoff changes as you add more people. I appreciate it!! Thanks!!

sorry to butt in but if spectra closing loops provide faster deployment why isnt it standard convention to have spectra closing loops for ANY base jump? I imagine even freefalling something hundred or two hundred feet higher you'd still want a fast deployment. Is there more of a chance of premature deployment with spectra? Thanks!

delete your cookies, THEN change the avatar. The avatar thingy is stored as a cookie, and even if you upload a new one while the old cookie is still in place it won't change! You gotta delete them cookies! Or eat them, that sounds more fun!

what is the picture of? Just curious...

I want my own closed off section though, what if the planets align and I get a girl to spend the night? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

whatever dave offers to pay add 3 pennies and that's what I'll pay! Seriously, why don't you look through classifieds and check out compareable canopies with compareable jump numbers. Ain't no big deal, what are you comfortable selling it at? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

How Long Did It Take For Your "A"?
andy2 replied to Fireflyer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I started in march this year and got my A in july. edit- hey, who really cares though man? You're having fun arn't you? That's what counts, not some stupid USPA license. (I hope USPA doesn't spank me for that) --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
I just wanted to add something from a beginner (me). I've done quite a few 2 ways, 3 ways, etc, but also I've done quite a few solos. When I do a solo and I'm wedged between freefliers, a 4 way, and then tandems out next I usually get out and immediately track perpendicular to jumprun. Since I'm by myself it doesn't matter if I max track and zoom out of the jump run path. Usually 7 seconds of tracking will get me CLEARED out of everybody, and while it eats up a little freefall time its good practice, and then I'm safe and confident to try whatever manueveur I want (within reason of course ). What do you all think about that? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

How do you define a High Performance Landing?

or when you kill someone else doing it. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
This type of thing has never happened to me, but I think if it did I would calmly (try to at least) walk back to the packing area and at least set down my gear, stow brakes, etc etc before approaching trying to resolve the problem. Theres no reason to get mad, whats done is done, working from a docile standpoint you can prevent the problem from RECURRING. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

0:3:0 3 nice jumps today. I wish I had more money. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

ok, thanks buddy, thats what I was using, a dullish needle. I was just being anal though cause I doubt it seriously or even at all effects the velcro's performance. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

weekends... although soon I'm gonna start jumping weekends + one day during the week if money holds out... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

You know what I mean, little bits of whatnot, hair, dust, etc, gets caught in the hook part of the velcro. Is there anything I can do to clean it besides just manually plucking it from the velcro (pretty time consuming). I'm not against doing that, if that will give me a little additional strength to my velcro, why not.... thanks --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

im loading my monarch (similar to a sabre1) at .95 with 50 jumps and thats more than enough speed for a beginner, imo! I would feel like I was putting myself in danger if I jumped on a 1.2 or 1.4 now. YMMV but I think you're thinking along the right lines, go conservative right off your layoff and then you can step it up as you see fit. Who else is stuck at home/work and not jumping?
andy2 replied to freeflygoddess's topic in The Bonfire

To downsize or not to downsize?
andy2 replied to freeflygoddess's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I second that, wendy. Chuck's (SkyMonkeyOne) advice is consistently good and he offers it whenever he can. As a beginner we'd do well to listen to people like Chuck when they talk to us about our skydiving. There's a lot you can learn yourself in this wonderful sport, but also just as great is the knowledge that experienced skydivers can pass onto us. blue skies Andy --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
How do you define a High Performance Landing?
andy2 replied to lawrocket's topic in Safety and Training
Get rid of purposely and I'll agree with you. The added speed does not need to be intentional for a high performance landing. Just my $0.02 USD.
So you would say a newbie who buries a toggle below 500 feet and starts spinning and somehow manages to slide it in and not break bones is doing a "high performance landing"? That's silly, Jim. The key word in the phrase is "performance", meaning purposefully executed, high modifies the entire phrase by bringing in skill and finesse (imo) blue skies --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... -
I've heard sometimes you can flare the rear risers or the brakes (or both) and the line will "slide" off. But probably for people like us who dont have that many jumps the best thing to do is recognize a potentionally fatal situation and do what we were trained to do, cutaway and pull reserve. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

not to be smart alecky but to start I think you should read the the photography forum on this webpage. Understand thats a little more daunting than the other forums cause its 90% equipment oriented, and a little frightening to budding camera men like ourselves. But its good, eventually you'll start understanding what theyre talking about, and of course nothing beats talking to the video guys at your dropzone, that REALLY helps. But once you have a better handle on the entire subject you'll be more prepared to make a purchase and ask intelligent (not that your questions in this post wernt intelligent) questions. blue skies brother! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
